Dear Sir/Madam,
Seeking shelter for street dogs
I am Saman Samarawickrama and am living on rent basis in a house in Ja Ala Royal Park Housing Scheme from 2020. When my family including me came to live in this house, there were 6 dogs around this house and they were very emaciated due to lack of food, so I gave food to those dogs regularly.
There was one pregnant dog when I arrived and she gave birth to three puppies in May 2020. Since those puppies were also females, I sterilized each dog at my own expense.
At present, there are 9 street dogs around my house and since they know that I feed the dogs, some people come and leave the puppies near my house. Almost 20 puppies that have been abandoned like this have been given all the vaccinations and distributed to homes for adoption. I will do that service at my full expense.
But now I have a terrible problem. The street dogs near my house try to bite the locals who pass by this house. The electric meter reader and the water meter reader also try to bite. For these reasons, the local residents are angry with me. They threaten me not to feed these dogs and to take them somewhere.
I have been bearing this pressure for years but now the situation has become severe. The Electricity Board, Water Board and Public Health Inspector have written to the owner of my house to remove these dogs.
The owner of the house informed me to find another house as soon as possible and to remove the dogs immediately.
I am in a very helpless situation. I already spend around Rs. 30,000/- per month on these dog food.
So is there a place where these dogs can be delivered or where they can be adopted.
THE COST CAN BE PAID MONTHLY.
Kindly help me.
Or the police or the municipality will kill these dogs. Or the locals will poison them and feed them or kill them.
Kindly pay attention and give relief to these poor people.
thank you.
