๐ A Recovery Against All Odds ๐
Meet Sasha, a brave 8-year-old Labrador who came to us at Vets and Pets Animal Hospital with a heartbreaking story and a mountain of health challenges. She was initially treated elsewhere for pyometra, a severe infection of the uterus, but after two weeks, she hadnโt improved. When she arrived, her case was much more complex than we imagined.
Upon examining her, we discovered Sasha was also struggling with hypothyroidism, leading to weight gain and obesity. This added strain on her joints, worsening her osteoarthritis, which made even standing and walking painful. To make things tougher, she had a cardiac condition that caused frequent panting and discomfort.
After running a blood test, we found her white blood cell count was alarmingly high at 48,000, a sign of a serious infection that needed urgent attention. Despite the odds stacked against her, we knew we had to act fast. Our veterinary surgeons made the decision to perform the pyometra surgery.
The operation was successful, and after three days of hospitalization, Sasha went home fully recovered and ready for a new start!
This was one of those cases where we honestly werenโt sure if sheโd pull through, but thanks to her fighting spirit and the dedication of our team, Sashaโs story has a happy ending. ๐พโค๏ธ
