🌭Cat of the Month!! 🚨

Hotdog is a DSH male, estimated to have been born in October, 2020.
​
Hotdog was found extremely sick on one of our feeding routes. He was suffering from a severe upper respiratory infection resulting from calicivirus, and was on the verge of death. We took Hotdog for immediate veterinary care which resulted in him staying in the ICU for a few months of round-the-clock treatment. It was all worth it in the end -- Hotdog pulled through!

Hotdog is an extremely fun-loving cat who loves to play with his shelter siblings. He acts like a kitten stuck in an adult cat's body. Even his meow sounds like a kitten's! Hotdog is no longer the fearful cat he was when he arrived. Now, he is a confident, sweet, cuddly boy who gets along with everyone. If you're looking for a cat who will greet you when you get home and hang out by your side all day, look no further!

Due to his friendly and sociable nature, Hotdog would do best in a loving home where he had another cat around to hang out with.

*Because of the calicivirus, Hotdog has had issues with his teeth from a young age. At the moment, he is really in need of dental care. If you choose to donate to Hotdog directly, those funds will all be be put towards his dental treatment.*

URGENT HELP NEEDED

Our food supplies are running low!

We desperately need to restock food for both the indoor cats and the street cats. It costs us about 25 USD a day in wet food alone to keep all of our cats fed. As of right now, we only have enough food to last us a few more days. We need your help.

Charlie’s surgery went well! He is now home with us recovering nicely at the shelter. He is happy, healthy, warm, and has a full belly. The vet is also quite happy with how his jaw is healing so far. The vet decided against vaccination at this time so as to not further stress his system. However, Charlie did receive flea treatment, which will hopefully provide him some much needed relief while he recovers. Additionally, Charlie was given more medication for his respiratory symptoms.

I want to thank you all for the support you’ve shown him. Because of you, we were able to cover all of his medical care in full! That almost never happens! Charlie does not have a single bill left to be paid 🥹
Thank you, thank you, thank you! You all saved him! We even had a small amount leftover, which we used to pay a portion of Mo and Romeo’s ICU bills.

Romeo and Mo also came back home with us to continue their treatment at the shelter. Romeo is still not doing well, as is clear in the photo, but he seems to be happy and keen to keep fighting. Mo has shown quite a bit of improvement, so we are very hopeful! We will provide more updates on them further into their treatment regimen. Please keep them in your thoughts🤍

Our cat of the Month this month is Mo, and it is with a heavy heart that we explain why.

This past week, Mo and Romeo were admitted into the ICU at our vet. Like many of our cats, they have both been suffering from cat flu for a long time. Unfortunately, the health of both of them has recently taken a turn for the worse. Without intensive treatment, we worried they would not be able to fight for much longer.

The good news is that both of them have improved a bit since being admitted. Mo has began eating again and Romeo is breathing much better (he was eating okay before being admitted and is still eating fine). The bad news is, this is far from over. Despite improving, the boys are still very unwell and will need to stay in ICU for as long as the vet will allow them.

We’re going to do everything humanly possible for them on our end. We’re not going to give up. We’ll keep fighting with them for as long as they want to fight.

Mo is cat of the month because we need help getting him and Romeo the care they need. Both of their vet bills will be expensive and we can’t do it on our own. I know we ask you all for help a lot, and I’m sorry we have to ask again. All I can say is thank you. We appreciate you more than you could ever know!❤️

In other news, we also have an update about Colonel Mustard. If you remember, while removing a polyp in Mustard’s ear the vet found a suspicious mass in his neck. We went back in for a recheck appointment this week where the vet informed us that she believes the mass to be cancerous. If it is cancerous, the mass needs to be removed as soon as possible in order to prevent any metastasis, though there is no evidence of spread at the moment.

I’m sorry to have to give you all such bad news all at once, and again i’m sorry to keep asking for help but with the vet bills. Hopefully we can get the cats the care they need to get them better so that they have a chance to find their forever homes!!

Meet Charlie 🤍

During our recent feeding tours we’ve noticed a cute little grey cat that clearly needs our help. He is missing his right eye, appears to have a broken jaw, and has a snotty nose suggesting an upper respiratory infection.

Despite all the pain he must be in, he is such a sweet boy whole sits patiently when he sees us coming, politely waiting for his dinner. He lets us pat his little head and is nice to all of the other cats eating around him. He is so special! We can’t imagine how sore it is to eat with his jaw injury.

He deserves to have his ailments seen by a vet. Unfortunately, at the moment we know we will not be able to afford any of his medical care. So, we are asking you all for help to get this guy to the vet ASAP. Will you help us?! The reality is that, without donations, we will not be able to get him any medical attention at all. We really, really need you. He needs you!

As you all know, this is our founder, Hajar. What you may not know is that for more than a year Hajar has been suffering from a severe and unknown chronic illness. An illness which recently became life-threatening.

After today's appointment with the gastroenterologist, Hajar was finally given some answers. She has been suffering from a GI tract full of stones. Additionally, she was informed that she will be needing emergency surgery.

Hajar does not want to leave her shelter cats for the few days she will be in hospital. However, we know that it is necessary. So, we are asking for help.

If you have volunteered with us in the past and would like to help care for the cats while Hajar gets this desperately needed surgery, please reach out! We currently have 51 cats and kittens in the shelter, so the work will not be easy. We will need help with feeding, medicating, and cleaning.

Nous cherchons des bénévoles motorisés d'urgence.
Nous devons faire face souvent à des urgences pour emmener des animaux d'urgence au vétérinaire....pour les stérilisation et pour les vaccinations et aussi hospitalisation.
Nous n'avons pas de voiture pour tout ça....
Et cela fait des jours qu'on doit emmener notre champ pour sa deuxième vaccination.
Et récupérer deux chats de Hay salam et les déposer à Hassan.
Qui peut aider nous n'y arriverons pas seule.

Bichou and Guizmo has been neutered on saturday and Glue had few Blood tests ..WE were suspecting renal deficiency but its his liver which is not doing well... further examinations will be made as soon as l'iav will open its Doors on september.

Le 26 juin 2018, Mama est arrivé en Belgique.
Ma petite aveugle qui a été abandonné plus d'un an ds l'un de mes points de nourissage ...avec bcp d'acharnement et le soutien de deux merveilleuses personnes et de notre vétérinaire qui l'a gardé pendant 6 mois le temps de la preparer...on y est arrivé..et depuis elle vit la belle vie avec sa merveilleuse maman Nicole qui s'est bcp investi pendant des mois pour notre Mama et que je remercie du fond du coeur et chaque jour de lui avoir donné la chance d'avoir un foyer aimant.

Update: Pippolino is no longer reserved and is available for adoption!

Pippolino is a male DSH, estimated to be around three years old. He was found abandoned in a park in 2019, suffering from a spinal injury as a result of physical abuse. He remained a stray for a few months until Hajar had an open space in the shelter for him. Initially, Pippolino was very afraid, likely due to his past trauma. However, over time he warmed up and has blossomed into a very sweet cat who loves to cuddle with both humans and his shelter siblings.

As a consequence of his injury, Pippolino does not walk to or act like a stereotypical cat. However, he does not let his handicap slow him down. He loves to run and play as best he can with the other cats in the shelter. Sometimes his legs or claws stop working correctly and he may get stuck, but with a little help he is back to having fun again.
