Beldi Refuge Morocco

Beldi Refuge Morocco Dog Rescue located in the wild Rif Mountains. Rescue/Shelter/TNVT Our work is necessary and precious. Thank You!

I'm Eyleen aka Leeny from germany and since 2019 I have helped the lowest society members in Morocco - stray dogs. Together with an international Team and changing Volunteers from all over the world, we see and experience unspeakable things on our daily mission to rescue sick, injured, abused and abandoned dogs in a forgotten place - the wild Rif Mountains. Under harsh conditions but with loving

hands we're taking care of our rescues on a daily basis untill they travel to their furever homes. We try to give our Refugees the feeling that they're home

Our circumstances are hard and Dog Welfare is new in Morocco, our mission is pioneer work- sometimes we reach our limits- but the wheel keeps turning and dogs keep getting mistreated and killed on the streets. Due to the lack of Vets and no existing Emergency Animal Clinics we have to treat new emergencies (who are mostly in a horrible condition) ourselves and care for them untill they can reach the next clinic which is hours away. Somethimes it takes an army to rescue dogs, without the support of our local community and our online community our hands are tied! We want to share our experiences and the sad stories behind each dog with you and give our rescues a voice. We hope we can spread awareness about the complicated situation for stray dogs in morocco and we hope you value our work. With your help we can continue rescuing our friends in need - Beldi Dogs. Today has been a beautiful day - especially for two of our animals with special needs. 🥹

Both, Suri and Pumpkin are blind. Despite their tragic past they made it to find courageous and lovely people who fell in love with them. Today they traveled out to france to meet their new families. 😍

We hope that all our rescues will find loving homes and if you’re interested in adopting please send us a message! Beldi dogs are truly special and they all deserve the comfort of a caring home 🏡🐕❤️

This is to all the female dogs. Dogs like Valentine.🌸

On we want to celebrate not only the visible women in our society but also those who live in the shadows and are often overlooked: the female stray dogs. These brave beings fight against unimaginable hardships every day and are often victims of exploitation and abuse. Their strength is tested when they involuntarily live in perpetual pregnancies and yet give everything to protect and support their puppies - even they’re mostly dying. Their suffering often goes unnoticed as they are forgotten by society. Today, let us honor not only women but also the invisible heroines of the streets who fight every day to survive.

Valentine has been one of them. She survived the distemper virus. A neurological disease that is killing most of the dogs that are suffering from it. Valentine was left with neurological damage, shifferint in a corner on the busy market street in Chefchaouen with thousands of people passing her by. It is unimaginable how she made it to survive, suffering alone and in silence. I admire her, her strength and resilience.

Dogs like Valentine are a true inspiration for every women - she is definitely an inspiration to me!

A new emergency just entered our doors…😞

This poor boi was brought to us by his owner who’s seeking help. He told us about his dog and how he used to look (picture in the comments) and that he don’t know what to do as he doesn’t have a car and can’t pay for a vet but he can’t let his dog down.

We have to help and need to bring him asap to the vet on monday when he opens the clinic again!

We stopped rescues but of course poor people keep bringing their dogs in need of help to us and we can’t send these dogs who are mostly on the edge to die home again.

We’re grateful for every help.
He need to see the vet on monday until then our dedicated team will do everything to provide him with the best care possible 🙏💔

Every donation is helping us to cover his costs

A LITTLE HERO NEEDS US!

Today, a tiny puppy was entrusted to us, with its leg broken in multiple places. Our team immediately took him in, providing initial care. Tomorrow, a vet visit is crucial, but we need your help! 💔 We hope that he doesn’t need an amputation but it’s not looking good…
Every penny counts to ensure a pain-free future for this brave little fighter.

And there’s a touching twist: The local man who brought him might want to keep him.

Together, we can ensure his healing! Please share, donate, and give this little hero a second chance! 🙏❤️

You can donate to our PayPal to help him.

This is little Boosa, a stray puppy living in Chefchaouen, next to the .triana restaurant. Boosa was lucky! Boosa underwent treatment, sterilization and vaccination, thanks to a generous sponsor

Sadly our shelter is overloaded, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t help puppies like her on the streets. Boosa found a spot in our spaying/neutering program, which greatly aids in improving the lives of street animals. (Check our instagram post to see how Boosa looked when we found her)👀

Now, Boosa enjoys her street life, cared for by compassionate helpers like Elena
Her ear tag assures that she’s protected against rabies, that she won’t reproduce and that she won’t be overlooked. Every contribution to our spaying/neutering program shapes the destiny of street animals like Boosa with more compassion. 💕 Together, we offer glimpses of light and security!

Boosa is as as all our tagged dogs up for adoption to have a chance for a loving home!

Peanut got picked up by her adoptants!

Peanut is an incredibly cute and very special dog and we’re so happy that these lovely people gave her the chance for a loving home. They waited a long time for her because Peanut did not pass her first serology, but the wait was worth it, they didn’t give up on her! 🥰

We’re wishing the little family of 3 all the best! Thank you for adopting a beldi dog ♥️

We’re still having over 120 beautiful dogs who are searching for a home - if you want to fall in love please check our website www.beldi-refuge.org and send an email to [email protected]

Meet Hope, a brave dog rescued from the streets when she was just a tiny puppy. In her early months, she endured unimaginable mistreatment and was in a critical condition. Today, Hope is an affectionate companion around 4.7 years old, standing at 58 cm and weighing 22 kg. With her lively nature, she loves long walks and gladly joins you on bike rides.

Please note that Hope needs time to adjust to a normal life. At times, she may react bewildered to new people, but her curiosity and willingness to learn are impressive. With patience and love, she will surely make quick progress and become a loyal companion.

Hope not only brings joy but also a great sense of humor into your life. Her well-behaved manner makes her a reliably responsive dog. Despite past hardships, she loves children and gets along well with cats.

Fully vaccinated, chipped, and spayed, Hope eagerly awaits a family to provide her with love, security, and a home. Could you be the one to bring Hope’s life story to a happy ending?

Hope is currently in foster care in France, in Bordeaux.

If you’re interested in Hope please contact us here on Instagram or send an email to [email protected]

🎄Urgent Christmas Appeal: Rescued Paws in Peril!🎄

Dear Beloved Community,

In the spirit of the season, we reach out with a heartfelt plea for our four-legged friends who need your urgent assistance. Our shelter is home to over 120 rescued dogs, and right now, we are facing a critical shortage of dog food. As Christmas approaches, we find ourselves at a crossroads, desperately needing your support to ensure our furry companions have enough nourishment for the weeks ahead.

Our food supplies have been depleted, and without your compassionate intervention, we fear we won’t be able to provide for our beloved dogs during this festive season. We turn to our incredible community on social media, understanding the strength that lies in unity and kindness.

This holiday, let’s join forces to make a significant impact. Your generosity can be the lifeline that keeps tails wagging and hearts warm. Your donation, big or small, will directly contribute to securing the well-being of our rescue dogs.

🎁 How You Can Help:
- Share this message to spread the word.
- Donate to our cause and be a hero for our furry friends.
- Tag friends and family who might be willing to make a difference.

Our rescued dogs depend on us, and we depend on you. Together, let’s ensure a brighter and warmer Christmas for these innocent souls who have found refuge in our care.

We got a call for help from locals to rescue „small, severely injured puppy on the streets in Chefchaouen!“

His trembling body revealed the loneliness and suffering he had endured. Compassionate hearts united to grant this innocent creature a rescue. Through collective efforts, we provide the puppy with much-needed assistance – a warm refuge, medical care, and, above all, love. Despite his impaired ability to walk, hope now gleams in his eyes, for we are giving him the chance for a new life filled with warmth and care. This story serves as a reminder that animal welfare is not just an ideal but an action that transforms lives. As he currently cannot move, the uncertainty looms over whether he will walk again. 😞

However, we urgently need your support through donations to ensure he receives the necessary medical care. Your generosity can be the key to transforming his story from one of pain to a testament of compassion and healing. ♥️

‼️Urgent Call for Help: Sammy, Hope and Leyla need Foster Home in Germany, France or Spain – Your Support Matters‼️

This is a wonderful opportunity for the three dogs, Sammy (3 legged), Hope and Leyla, to have a new chance at a loving home. I will personally bring them from Morocco to Germany, France or Spain and then accompany them to their foster home. It’s noteworthy that Sammy, Hope and Leyla are already travel-ready, neutered and fully vaccinated, allowing us to save on many costs by bringing them ourselves. This journey will not only change their lives but also touch the hearts of the people providing them with foster care. The bond between humans and animals is something special.

We’re setting off in just a few days, urgently seeking a foster home!

If you can give one of these beauties a place on your couch until they found a furever home, please send me an email to [email protected] or email me on Instagram mir Facebook!

Wishing Sammy, Hope and Leyla all the best, and hoping to find a wonderful foster home for them in these few days!♥️

This cute shepherd girl needs a home asap. She can travel in a couple of months, neutered and fully vaccinated. We will take her next week for x rays to the vet to see how we can help her with her fail posture and walking disability. She has no pain and is super sweet and playful. We’ve seen her mama on the quarry who’s a beautiful and sweet shepherd dog. Dogs with disabilities need chances as well. They’re not much different from „normal“ dogs and deserve a loving and caring home as well. If you want to give her a chance and a furever home, please send us an email to [email protected] or email us on social media. ♥️

If you want to help us with her veterinary expenses please donate to our PayPal: [email protected]

Rambo (now Rainbow) and Nakia (former tagged dog from Chefchaouen) arrived with their families in France! 🥰

A new chapter is starting for both and we can’t express how happy we are!

Rainbow is a senior dog who’s suffering from leishmania. Once abandoned by his former owner to the streets he was rescued 3 years ago by the Beldi Refuge Morocco who nursed him back to life! Thanks to a great association in france he found a lovely, elderly couple who adopted him. It is amazing that they’re opening their hearts and home for a sick senior dog! Rainbow found the best home possible! Thank you so so much, merci! ♥️

Nakia has been a part of our neutering campaign. When her new pawrents traveled to Chefchaouen she followed them and wrapped them around her finger. Thanks to her eartag her adoptants easily found us and adopted Nakia right from the streets! Of course we took care of her adoption process and now she’s spending the rest of her life with awesome people who truly love her to the moon and back!

We love happy endings!
Thanks to our kind community on social media these dogs once had a chance. Without the help of you they would have died on the streets, they would have never be seen. You’re writing these beautiful stories!

To a new life!

Thanks as well to the flight volunteer Andriy (husband of one of our teammates, Elena) who traveled only for the dogs to France and directly back to Morocco. 🫶

We’re drowning again in bills and debts. 😫

We are in desperate need of help. Yesterday we’ve been to the vet again with 3 of our dogs and the vet handed us our debt bill. We have to pay a part or we can’t bring our rescues to the clinic anymore. We also need to pay our loyal team their weekly wages since tuesday, our water bill from the last two months and we need food! We don’t know how to go on at the moment, we need support!

Please if you can donate anything we would really appreciate it! We know you’re helping us already as much as you can but we have no other choice then to ask our kind social media community.

Please donate via PayPal: [email protected] or send us a dm for bank details. Any help is needed!

Please share and spread the word!

Dearest supporter, please read.

The first word that comes to my mind when the end of the year is near - F !

Because end of the year means we will have to pay the rent for our two lands in only two months. November and december. It means struggle while we hustle already to pay food, wages and simply everything.

We have to pay each year 2900€ rent for both lands that are next to each other and that belong to different landlords. Yikes.

Thanks to our teaming (link in bio) we collected 1350€ over the year and thanks to and Elena this adds up to 1700€. Wow! But, there are still 1200€ left that we have to pay in the coming days and weeks. If we don’t pay we’re risking that our dogs get kicked out of the lands, their home - the

Now we’re coming to the tricky part! We need 1200€ asap and we need a new ton of kibbles to feed our 129 rescued dogs in the refuge and many on the street. We pay for one ton of kibbles 950€ which is lasting for almost 3 weeks, depending on how many strays we feed (and trust me we wish we could feed more strays but we can’t).

To all of this we need to renovate our kennels for this winter and we want to neuter some strays that need our help - yes, F !

We stuck, but we hope we can somehow make it through this awful time, the end of the year.

I’m asking you now if you can donate this month for our rent and for dog food. We know it’s a lot but we need you now more than ever (I know I said this many times and this time it’s again for real!)

ANY, yes any donation is very helpful and helps us to survive and to operate for one more year. To keep our mission and this beautiful cause going!

You can join our teaming (you donate 1€ a month if you’re from europe) https://www.teaming.net/beldi
or you can donate through PayPal https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/beldirefuge
OR you can simply share. Honestly anything is helping, even if you just like and comment this post.

You can also send us a dm for bank details and you can donate via Western Union or Wafa Cash.

Anything is possible if we stick together in these hard times!

Thank you very much for reading and for helping. ♥️✌️🫶

!Help needed!

Old Fatima (you know this beautiful human being if you follow us for a while) called us to help one of our taggy dogs from Chefchaouen.

The dog got hit by a car recently and is in horrible pain. She will need x rays tomorrow to determine the location of her pain.

Fatima kept the dog in her small apartment under the roof and waited for us. This lady is a blessing for all the stray dogs in her area. Fatima is an old lady who is selling herbs on the market every day, surrounded by stray dogs who don’t even trust me. She’s collecting every day food rests for the strays to feed them after her work. She lives alone but shares her home with injured cats and sometimes dogs. Fatima is poor but she even shares the blanket on the floor that she sleeps on with the animals. This lady is an angel.

|| Please check our comments to see more videos ||

When I’ve seen how Fatima lives it broke my heart and I would love to help her in the future (by neutering her cats and by bringing her a bed she can sleep on). But first, let us help this poor dog who can’t even walk because of her pain. 🙏🤍

Any donation for our vet visit in Tanger tomorrow is appreciated and needed!

If you want to help old Fatima, please send me a dm 🫶

We can’t thank our volunteers like Hubert enough for helping us 🙌

But do you know who’s doing the „heavy“ work in the refuge? Our relentless working team! They are working day and night to ensure that our dogs are fed and cared of. They’re the ones that are picking them up from the street when they need us the most and they are the ones that are holding their paw when they’re taking their last breath.

All of them are moroccons who are supporting their families as well with the small salary they have. Yesterday has been our weekly pay day but sadly we couldn’t pay them yet.

We also need to pay for our helper houses. Every month on the 01. we have to pay our landlord or we risk being kicked out.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! Please donate for our super hero team who are giving all they can to ensure that our dogs are well! 🫶

Every donation is appreciated and needed.

Thanks to your help we could help this little stray puppy in Chefchaouen today.🤍

As you might know our doors are closed at the moment for new rescues due to our financial situation but that doesn’t mean that we can’t help dogs on the streets to recover with our help in their territory.

This little girl is suffering from severe mange. Today I found her and took her to the vet where she received her first round of vaccinations and a treatment against worms and scabies. In two weeks she will need this treatment for parasites again.

Luckily she’s in a good place in a quiet side road in the city. People there told me that they will watch out for her and call me if she
needs help. A shop owner gave her a little space with cardboard for her when it’s raining. who’s helping us and the dogs and cats in Chauen will have an eye on her as well! When she’s old enough we hope we will be able to neuter and tag her so she won’t have to go through a life of permanent pregnancy and hustle.

And thanks to her rabies vaccination she will protect her territory in the future against rabies dogs and she will help us to eliminate rabies once and for all in Chefchaouen.

Thank you for making her life a little more worth living and a huge thanks to all of the people who understand that it’s important to take care of our most vulnerable ones. 🥹🥲

I named her Kay - it’s the second name of my sister Anna - Kay.

We’re always in need of help to help our rescues and new dogs on the street. We’re having daily costs and rents to pay- please don’t hesitate to donate through our PayPal: [email protected]

Eaten alive by maggots 😩

Someone from the village brought us his dog. He’s having a horrible wound on his site and it’s full of maggots. The owner tried to treat it with antiseptic blue spray but of course that won’t help to eliminate the maggots.

We cleaned the wound with peroxide and gave him a shot of antibiotics. Sadly the clinic is far away and closed. Tomorrow he need to see the vet. 🙏

We bound his mouth so he cant bite during the peroxide treatment but realized fast it isn’t necessary. He’s a really humble and timid dog.

Can you help him to visit the vet tomorrow? Every little donation is doing the trick 🤍

This is Johanna and Johanna is truly something like an angel. I never met her before but we’re both coming from the same town in Germany. When Johanna heard that someone “aus de Palz” opened a dog rescue in Morocco she took action and cycled 3000km from Germany to Morocco all by herself. Not only did Johanna cycle to us she also combined it with a fundraiser to help the refuge. Johanna made it to collect more than 2500€ for us from which we could order two tons of dog food over the last couple of weeks! From the rest we paid wages to our loyal workers for one week and bought food for the helper house. Johanna is a blessing! Without her we don’t know if we would have survived october so far.

Sadly Johanna had to leave us again after she volunteered for several days with us but after two months on the road it’s safe to say that she’s missing her loved ones and she’s definitely ready to sleep again in a comfortable bed and having a hot shower!

Johanna is a friend and a companion and we’re so happy we’ve met her!

Thank you for all the hardships you went through just to help us! I’m sure we will meet again ♥️ You’re a one in a million!

21/10/2023

I know we stopped our neutering campaign and rescues due to our financial struggle but I came across this beautiful small pack of stray dogs in Chefchaouen that I want to help.

I would LOVE to neuter, vaccinate and tag them so they’re a part of our tnvt campaign in Chefchaouen. I had a talk to the shop owner in this corner and he would have an eye on them and feed them for us.

Stray dogs who are vaccinated are not a danger anymore for society as they’re safe from rabies, which is still a threat in Morocco. Neutered dogs are much more calm and won’t group up which scares many people. They also don’t reproduce so people won’t get rid of them because they don’t want to deal with many new born puppies two times a year.

Would you help these ultra lovely doggos? We’re having two females and two males here. (One male is not in the videos sadly, he has been a little scared)

The costs to treat them for parasites, neuter, vaccinate and tag all four of them will be 410€.

I hope we can make it this time! If you want to help them please donate to our PayPal: [email protected] (mentioning TNVT)

We will thank everyone in our stories and keep you updated if we get the money together for them!

Thank you for everything you’re doing already for the dogs in Chefchaouen and Akchour. We can’t thank you enough!
