A local pet store presented one of their young ballpark pythons for Dr. Alex Kintz-Konegger to evaluate. The snake was suffering from a pr*****ed re**um associated with defecation efforts. Its TCVM diagnosis was prolonged Spleen Qi Deficiency. The snake was currently shedding and weighed 70g. The snake received sutures and was prescribed Baytril. The sutures were removed 2 weeks later and acupuncture was performed with Korean hand needles in GV-1 and CV-1.

Unfortunately, the snake suffered another episode of re**al prolapse within a month. More sutures were placed, acupuncture was repeated, and the herbal formula Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang was prescribed. Half a teapill was crushed in a garlic press and administered orally each day until the snake sold 3 months later, with no recurrence of symptoms.
