Every day we work with our patients, we believe we are making a difference, we believe that we understand them, through their demeanor, through their symptoms, through their history, and we treat them with the best of care with absolute love.

We have a wheelchair available for medium to large dogs. It was donated by a client of the Clinic who lost his beloved companion. Unfortunately she didn’t get a chance to use it. We thought we should share…

⚠️We have noticed an increase in calls recently regarding Efudix ® 5% cream⚠️

Efudix® contains the active ingredient Fluorouracil which is used for the management of certain cancers in humans. It is incredibly toxic to pets and carries a high mortality rate if treatment is not initiated promptly.

Fluorouracil causes gastrointestinal signs (vomiting) rapidly followed by neurological signs such as wobbliness, tremors and seizures. If animals survive the first 48-72 hours, there is a risk of bone marrow suppression.

We want to ensure that anyone who is prescribed Efudix® is aware of the risk and keeps it locked away and out of reach from pets. If your pet comes into contact with this cream, you must seek veterinary attention immediately.

Poisonous if ingested:
🍫 Chocolate
🥧 Christmas desserts (mince pies, christmas puddings etc. - can contain ingredients like xylitol, sultanas etc. which are very harmful)
🧅 Onion
🧄 Garlic
🌰 Macadamia nuts and other types of nuts
🌺 Plants associated with Christmas (Ponsietta, Mistletoe, Ivy)
🎄 Tinsel (can cause serious intestinal blockage if ingested)
🍷 Alcohol

‼️We should also be very careful of christmas light decorations 🎄. We all know our pets can get curious and try to chew or bite these flashing lights, but this can cause very serious injuries from electrocution. This is why our pets should never be left unsupervised when these christmas light decorations are switched on!
