This week I passed through the heartbreak and pain of losing a cat for the 5th time. Every loss gets harder and the grief is deeper. So why do I keep choosing to be surrounded by these beautiful creatures?

Cats leave paw prints on our souls. They teach us about love in the quietest ways—a head bump at the end of a long day, a gentle curl up in your lap, a soft purr vibrating through your veins and tiny paws kneading your heart. They always seem to know when we need comfort, the silly little quirks that make them *them*. And when they’re gone, the grief is deep because the connection and love was too.

It’s not "just a cat." It’s a best friend, a confidant, a tiny light that made life brighter. And though they may be gone, the love they gave us never really leaves.

If you’ve ever lost a cat, you know this pain. And if you’re grieving one now, I hope you find comfort in knowing you gave them a beautiful, loved life. They may only be part of our world for a little while, but to them, we were their whole world. A Love That Never Fades 💔🐾

Thankfully I still have Pejxu and Pepper warming my heart ❤️ If you are lucky to still have cats in your life, enjoy your moments with them, give them all the love that they deserve, because the love that they show you in their short lives is unconditional and true and will stay in your heart forever ❤️

You might have noticed that I didn't post much over the past two weeks. Sadly I spent most of my days nursing Fessuda, the matriarch of the clan. She had been showing signs of ageing for the last couple of months, but two weeks ago, as I went to feed them I noticed that she had lost the strength in her hind legs and was sliding herself on the ground. After a number of blood tests, xrays and medication, the vets suspected a stroke combined with sarcopenia and arthritis. I took her inside and tried my best to keep her as comfortable as possible, but sadly she was not showing any signs of improvement and was deteriorating rapidly. I couldn't bear to see her become a shell of the great cat that she once was, watching over us, the clan and our home for the last 11 years, so I had to take the heartbreaking decision to let her go.

I am grateful that I was around when it happened, and at least she spent her last two weeks in our care, but her loss is deeply felt.

I will post a proper tribute that is befitting for her in the coming days, as its too hard for me to go through the hundreds of photos I have of her at this point. For now I just need to grieve the loss of a loyal, loving companion who stole my heart by just being present everyday.
