Holter Monitoring of CKCS Dog with Advanced Myxomatous Mitral Valve Disease

Arrhythmias are a common finding in dogs with MMVD and Holter monitoring is a reliable tool for both HR monitoring and diagnosis.

Harry had daily syncope episodes and thanks to holter monitoring performed by Dr Nadia, we got to know that there were two problems which will be now tackled accordingly.

Our clinic is happy to introduce to you our new heart diagnostic test to give the best care to your pet ❤️

The HOLTER machine

In a nutshell, the HOLTER machine is:

A 24-hour (or more) ElectroCardioGram (more known to many as an ECG) recording that is carried out while the animal is "wearing" a recorder. This allows the cardiologist to analyze the rhythm and rate of the heart throughout the day and night of the pet, whether it's a cat, a dog or a horse, with activities documented in a diary by the owner.

It is a very important diagnostic tool especially for certain breeds like Boxers and Doberman pinschers that might have occult DCM with no clinic signs and symptoms.

In other breeds with arrhythmia finding during routine vet visits, those being treated with antiarrhythmic drugs, pets with unexplained fainting or those with heart conditions that could increase the risk of arrhythmias, HOLTER monitor could be a very important tool.

A busy day of echocardiography...❤️❤️❤️
Today a lot of MMVD cases, an heritable cardiac disease, very common in older small medium sizes dogs with higher risks in particular breeds like Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Dachshunds, Chihuahuas, Terriers, Schnauzers and Poodles.

We are looking for a highly organised, motivated nurse/receptionist with or without experience as a veterinary assistant. (Training will be provided)

The ideal candidate must be a good communicator, computer savvy, and comfortable working with animals in a busy environment, handling and restrain animal with care and knowledge.

Duties will include front office work such as welcoming clients, taking appointments, answering phone-calls, give medication prescribed by the Doctors, billing and invoicing, sales, promotion, stock taking and management, patient admission/ discharge, cleaning and disinfection and basic nursing duties.

Working hours will be mainly on weekdays from 9 till 13 and from 16 till 19 and Saturday from 9 till 13.

Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience and qualifications and will be revised periodically.

We would like to advice our customers that tomorrow the clinic will be closed all day.

To improve our imaging diagnostic services a new state of the art ultrasound machine will be installed and set. This new 'toy' will help us improve our diagnostic accuracy during cardiac and abdominal ( amongst others) examinations due to its enhanced usability and improved image quality.
