To eradicate cruelty and mistreatment of animals in the East Cape region through education and community support.
To achieve our vision by promoting responsible pet ownership in the East Cape region through the support of spay and neuter activities, educational and community-focused programs and the treatment and re-homing dogs where and when required.
Strategic Approach
Cortez Rescue’s mission is underpinned by three strategic pillars:
1. To support spay and neuter activities
By supporting existing organizations that already organize clinics across the East Cape.
When existing organizations are unable to provide activities, to establish ‘Cortez Rescue’ spay and neuter clinics.
To promote a culture of spay and neuter across the region through education.
To ensure that regular clinics are maintained by seeking financial support locally and further afield on an on-going basis.
2. To create educational and community-focused programs
To develop school projects that can be tailored to all ages of children in the different schools.
To seek out and develop new partnerships with other groups and work in harmony for the good of the animals.
To work as a community together embracing all nationalities in order to deliver change from within.
To seek out and utilize best practice learnt from other groups across Baja - and further afield.
3. To treat and re-home abandoned and mistreated animals where and when required
To accept into the care of Cortez Rescue those animals (dogs and cats) that are ownerless or mistreated or abandoned and care for them until they are healthy.
To re-home animals (dogs and cats) locally or further afield depending on local demand.
To seek the financial support of the local community and others across North America to achieve our mission.
To provide support to the local community who most need our help (in line with our Community Guidelines) in order to keep animals in their homes and cared for in order to avoid abandonment and mistreatment.
