Since our founding we have been determined to make an impact reducing the massive stray dog population in Mexico using a multi strategy approach. The foundation of our efforts is in our team’s three core initiatives we believe are most crucial to ending the stray dog crisis in Mexico. Rescue for dogs living on the streets and placement in forever homes through our adoption network. Reduction of th

e homeless dog population proactively through spay & neuter surgeries. Providing free and low cost medication and veterinary services to strays and families who can't afford it reducing the number of dogs who are abandoned. By combining these core elements into one unified front we can provide relief to the dogs who need help now while making a difference in reducing the stray dog population in the future.

On Wednesday we gave a presentation at the Benito Juarez school to two groups of 350 kids each covering topics from common diseases, to the importance of spay/neuter, to the importance of vaccinations, how to train your dog and more. Special thanks to veterinarian Antonio Cobos, C.A.R.E and Norma Hurtado, Guerita Castro and Punta banda Esteros, The k-9 team, Kris Szlakowski for the photos and video and of course the Benito Juarez school for working together with us to make this happen. It’s the smiles on the kids faces that does it for us. 🐶🐾❤️📚🎓

Today we went back to check on the puppies, with the really bad case of mange that the military has been taken care of. Today we gave a second dose of worming, their first vaccine, and we were happy to see that almost half of their hair is grown. 🙌🏻

Snowball and el ratón now have a home to call their own forever. when we first got el ratón she didn’t have a hair on her body. After over a month and a half in treatment and a 5 month stay with us she got better. Special thanks to our friend Norma Hurtado for making this happen. 🐾❤️🐶

Looking for a foster to can provide a place for the newest member of the pack Alma. Alma is a super sweet dog with people. Calm, happy and with lots of love to give. She’s having trouble integrating into a shelter type situation and with our current set up it isn’t an ideal place for us to work with her. We are looking for someone with no current animals or a smaller dog (she likes smaller dogs) that can give her a home while we work with her. It would be awesome if you could drop her off here every other day to work with the other dogs but we can pick her up if needed. Thank you!

**I am a cancer survivor and successfully beat cancer by undergoing chemotherapy. I’ve been living here at the rescue for over a year now and I have made SO much progress from the day I first got here. I am the most senior resident of Baja Dogs and although I am loved DEARLY here and will be GREATLY missed the staff here would like nothing more than to see me get a shot at having a forever home. I am FIERCELY loyal and I will stick with you for better or for worse. I’ve had a hard life up until I was rescued by Baja Dogs and even though I have been through unimaginable struggles I have persevered and managed to maintain a sweet and loving temperament. Please give me a shot. I promise you I’m worth it.

Benji who’s been with us for almost 6 months and is the worlds greatest cuddler find his forever home today as well. This one is bittersweet because we are going to miss all the cuddles but we couldn’t be happier with his placement. 🐶🐾❤️

Hi! I'm Matilda, I'm 7 months old and I’m an Black Lab Mix. I like to live life on the wild side. It doesn’t matter if we are going on a walk or to the end of the driveway to take out the trash, everything is an adventure! I love making new friends, play time and squeaky toys. When I need a nap to recharge my batteries I like to find a little slice of sunshine and sunbathe on my back. It doesn’t take long before I’m recharged and on the go again. So pick me and let’s go wild together!

Hi! My name is Terry, I'm 6 months old and I'm a Fox Terrier Mix. I’m just brimming with intelligence, I’m super corky and sometimes I’m too smart for my own good. You will have to earn my trust but when you do I’ll stick with you for better or worse. I love to nap and I look like an angel when I'm sleeping. My kennel mates tell me I snore but I'm not so sure. Bring me home and We can be corky together. I have had all of my vaccinations and I am sterilized.

Nothing makes us happier than updates about the pups we rescue as they grow. This is Mila a dog we rescued from the dump and treated for mange who is now living a wonderful life with her new family. ❤️🐾🐶

Picked up this lovely lady from the Calimax today after getting a call that they were trying to put her in the dumpster in a trash bag. One of the best parts of dog rescue is seeing the smiles after they realize they are safe. She’s got the sweetest temperament and is going to make a family very happy soon. Anyone have any good ideas for names? ❤️🐾🐶

We had an interesting idea today and we are putting the idea out there to see if anyone can help. We are wondering if anyone has an RV or Mobile Home that they don’t use (doesn’t even need to be nice) and would like to donate it for a tax deduction in the United States. This way we can purchase a plot of land on a payment plan and still achieve our goal of having a completely off grid farm and dog rescue. Please reach out if interested. Thanks! 🤞🏻🐶🐾❤️

Finding places to rent is difficult with one or two dogs never mind a whole pack. We are looking for a place to rent where we can continue to help the animals in our community and continue our work. Ideally we are looking for something with lots of space for the dogs where we won’t bother the neighbors but not so far that we are too isolated either. We would like to be able to build some kennel spaces for the dogs (nothing too serious, we don’t believe in cages and most of our dogs enjoy community style living) but enough that we can have some sort of control over the space they inhabit. With a space that is inhabitable for people as well (We don’t require much and we are willing to invest in the property as well!). Just putting some good vibes out into the universe and seeing what’s out there. We are ready to get back to work! Thanks! 🐶🐾❤️

Bruna’s sight AND hearing has started to return. This is what we were hoping for and gives us much hope for her and her future. Next we will start to explore options for fixing her leg and hopefully regain complete mobility. Stay tuned. ❤️🐾🦴

Baja Dogs in partnership with Cantu Animal Rescue Effort are pleased to announce that we are launching a program starting with the schools in El zorillo to educate kids about the importance of and how to better care for their pets. We will be discussing things like the importance of vaccines, spay and neuter and how to identify health problems and diseases and what to do about it. We are also looking for prizes to give away to the kids during our presentation. Update on the stray pup we are tracking with mange in maneadero. She disappeared for a bit but we found her again. Her spirits were high and new fur has started growing. Second treatment. Big improvement. 😁
