Gracias a veterinaria Leo Λεοντίνε Σχότελ, hoy esterilizaremos a Lumpy. Y luego buscaremos un nuevo hogar para este hermoso perro que se marece una buena vida.

Yay! Thank you Carolin Lila for working alongside Dogs of Puerto Angel to trap these stray cats in Zipolite this morning. One of the cats is pregnant, so we will be aborting the pregnancy humanely today. We're preventing countless of kittens from being born on the streets of Zipolite and giving these three cats a chance to live healthier lives. Together we make the coast of Oaxaca a better place for the animals and our society.

We have a HUGE weekend ahead. On Saturday and Sunday Dogs of Puerto Angel will be sterilizing animals in San Pedro Pochutla and Puerto Angel. I never do two sterilization campaigns on the same weekend because they're long and exhausting. But I wanted to help both communities before the end of the year, and these were our vets' only available dates. Please keep us in your thoughts this weekend. One of the hundreds of animals we'll be sterilizing is this kitten who was recently abandoned in Pochutla. We will also be treating his eye infection and looking for a forever home for him.
This is the magic of animal rescue that I live for. Transforming lives one beautiful animal at a time.

This puppy was found this morning in Mazunte with maggots eating him alive. The vet says he was cut several times with a machete! Oh, how I hate the human race at times.
But the vet also says that he has a high chance of surviving as long as he receives the necessary care. The puppy is with Centro Veterinario del Valle Mazunte. I was quoted 1190 pesos (60 USD), which I'm dreading as I'm already knee-deep in debt with my local vets 🙈.
Please stay tuned for more news about this puppy. And, as always, any donation towards his vet care would be received with our utmost gratitude.

Today is about celebrating Bobbi Brown, a dog who was spotted lying outside the Municipality Building of Santa Maria Tonameca for over a week. Neither the authorities nor the citizens did anything to help him. He was left to suffer alone.
But thanks to team work between Dogs of Puerto Angel and a group of sympathetic rescuers including @Nati Gil, @Nina Malazzo, and @Ana Samano, we worked together to get Bobbi Brown the help he needed.
Unfortunately, the only way to save him was by amputating his leg as expert vets confirmed that saving his leg wasn't possible.
Thank you to vet @Christian Martínez Zamora and her assistant @Terre Xtra for doing an excellent surgery to remove Bobbi Brown's leg and neuter him at the same time. Now Bobbi Brown has the chance to live a healthier life going forward.
And thank you to @Laura Alberto for offering a home for him. Without your generosity to give Bobbi Brown a safe place to heal, we wouldn't have been able to rescue him.
We love you Bobbi Brown. We're sad that we couldn't save your leg, but we know you'll be okay now. Sending you all the love and healing energy you need to make a quick recovery. 🙏🏽❤️🐾
There is not one day that goes by where I'm not grateful for the dog mobile that a few friends donated a year ago to Dogs of Puerto Angel.
🐾❤️🙏🏽
This vehicle is used regularly to transport animals all along the Oaxaca coast. Today, we helped this dog with a severe ear infection get to a vet because her owner doesn't have any way to transport her. Now her ear is clean and has been properly treated.
We're looking forward to a quick recovery. 🥰
Please donate to Bobby's eye surgery today. We need to remove Bobby's rotting eye as soon as possible. The vet will charge us 1200 pesos (60 USD) to remove his eye. He will also need 30 days of doxiciclina (450 pesos or 23 USD) to treat his tick-borne diease which has caused him to lose so much weight. Thank you so much for your support. If you donate, please feel free to leave a comment in the comments section. We so appreciate your support for Bobby!

🎁🎄We need collars!🎄🎁 If you're coming to the Oaxaca coast this holiday season, please consider bringing us some strong large and medium collars. We've run out, and we can't live without them. Below is a link to our Amazon Wishlist. Any items sent before Christmas to our friend in Greensboro, NC will be brought to us here in Puerto Angel
This new dog at Casa Claudia is Delilah. I met her on the Zipolite beach on Sunday. I discovered she was abandoned and has no owner. I found her walking on the main road last night, so I picked her up and will get her spayed today. She's so sweet, and I hope we can find her a good home soon.
Thank you to all for your love and support for the beautiful Cats and Dogs of Puerto Angel 🐾❤️🙏🏽

I feel like a hamster on a hamster wheel when it comes to animal rescue on the Oaxaca coast. Before I can breathe after the rescue or death of one animal, another one comes my way.
Now it's Macho, a dog in Colonia La Mina in Puerto Angel. If you've ever visited Playa La Mina or anywhere else on the Oaxaca coast as a tourist, I urge you to help us with a donation for the animals here. We cannot possibly help all these animals without you working alongside us.
Thanks to Stanislas who lives in La Mina for raising funds, we will be sterilizing and treating Macho's sister, Camila, for the sexually transmitted disease called TVT.
But we need help for Macho and the cat who is also featured in this video. Both are starving. We'd like to deparasite and sterilize this female cat on Thursday this week before she starts reproducing. This will cost 600 pesos (30 USD). We also need to treat Macho for mange, internal parasites, and erlikhia, a treatable tick-born disease that makes dogs anorexically thin. This will likely set us back another 600 pesos (30 USD).
Even though being on this hamster wheel of animal rescue is physically and emotionally exhausting at times, I'm not complaining! I actively choose to do this volunteer work because I want to help these animals and the community. I want to create consciousness and a society that works together to build compassion towards other sentient beings.
With your donations, you help us continue this vital animal rescue work which is making a positive difference one animal at a time.
Thank you for all your love and support for Macho and the other beautiful Cats and Dogs of Puerto Angel. 🙏🏽❤️🐾

Update: the puppy has died. 💔 Vet Garcia in San Pedro Pochutla attended to the puppy. He said she showed signs of severe dehydration as well as internal and external parasites. He gave her an IV, treated her for the parasites, and cleaned the wounds on her face that were full of maggots. But her little body gave up. He will be sending me the vet bill by WhatsApp shortly as I'm at work and not there in person.
Another innocent animal that was let down by a human who abandoned her in the bushes and left her to die in pain.
💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔
Warning: graphic footage. I'm glad that people have my phone number. But it also means that I have a lot of pressure on my shoulders. Lack of funds means I often have to turn away animals in need of help. 🙈 Today I was sent this video. Someone in Pochutla found this puppy. He wants to help him, but he doesn't have the funds to pay the vet bill. What would you do in my situation? Turn him away because I can't possibly be in more debt with our local vets? Or say "yes" to helping him and have the faith that someone out there will help us pay our vets? This is the issue I face every day, and it's hard on my soul.
