June 2025, has been quite a challenging month for us in Holistic C***s Cattery. From uninvited visitors, unpleasant event,.screwed-up arrangements & complications and handling a first time paw-parents.
Even so, we are always here striving each day to provide the best we could to our dear customers.
Holistic C***s does not promises an 100% perfect services nor cat. Instead, we promise to serve you and cater to you the best pet cat as possible. We are always gladly here today, tomorrow, months over and years ahead to hear you and advise you when needed. Most importantly is, you must have faith in us, and believe in our experiences and expertise. Else, the whole process is pointless and we have to put a Full-stop!
As much as we are not perfect, Veterinarian too is bound to make mistakes and may fall into an error in their judgment. Both of us did our best, but at times, either of us can make mistake.
Our advices are, be fair in your judgement and don't make blind accusation and just follow blindly.
In Holistic C***s we absolutely don't rehome contagious sick cats. We are always improving. That's why, it is always important to send them for medical checks/test, take pics and vids before their departure as a proof that they are healthy. But, please also learn and understand, that a long stressful journey can effect your kitten/cat and twist things around!
A healthy kitten can absolutely fall sick during a long, stressful journey. Kittens are particularly vulnerable to stress due to their sensitive bodies and developing immune systems.
Why Stress Can Make a Kitten Sick:
* Weakened Immune System: Stress releases hormones that can suppress the immune system, making the kitten more susceptible to infections it might otherwise fight off.
* Sensitivity to Change: Kittens are very sensitive to changes in their environment. A new place, unfamiliar smells, sounds, and lack of routine can all be highly stressful.
* Vulnerability: Kittens are generally more fragile than adult cats, and problems can escalate quickly.
Common Health Issues Triggered by Stressful Journeys:
* Gastrointestinal Issues:
* Diarrhea: This is a very common stress-related symptom in kittens and can quickly lead to dehydration.
* Vomiting: Nausea from motion sickness or stress can cause vomiting.
* Loss of Appetite: Stressed kittens may refuse to eat, which is concerning for their rapid growth and energy needs.
* Respiratory Issues: While not directly caused by stress, a weakened immune system due to stress can make them more prone to developing or worsening upper respiratory infections (URIs), which can manifest as sneezing, runny eyes, and nasal discharge.
* Urinary Tract Issues: Stress can contribute to urinary problems like cystitis (bladder inflammation).
* Skin Issues: Over-grooming due to stress can lead to skin irritation or hair loss.
* Hypoglycemia (Low Blood Sugar): Especially in very young kittens, not eating due to stress can lead to dangerously low blood sugar levels.
* Dehydration: This can result from vomiting, diarrhea, or simply not drinking enough during the journey.
Signs of Stress in Kittens During Travel:
* Excessive vocalization (meowing, yowling, hissing, growling)
* Hiding or trying to escape the carrier
* Trembling or panting
* Dilated pupils and flattened ears
* Excessive drooling or lip licking
* Aggression (scratching, biting)
* Litter box accidents (urinating or defecating outside the box)
* Changes in appetite (eating less or refusing to eat)
* Over-grooming
* Lethargy or increased sleep
What You Can Do?
* Acclimatize to the Carrier: Get your kitten used to the carrier before the journey by making it a comfortable, positive space.
* Familiar Items: Include a blanket or toy with familiar scents from home.
* Limited Food Before Travel: Avoid feeding a large meal right before the journey to reduce motion sickness.
* Stay Calm: Your own anxiety can transfer to your kitten.
Yes, we are no Vet expert, we need them. Give respect where it's due. But mind you, we do have many years of experiences dealing with hundreds of cats. At times, we understand what is happening even better. Everyone has their flaws.
