ABOUT US

Our story began in 1991 with the establishment of KM Vet Pharm Sdn. Due to the demand of clients, KM Vet Pharm became the parent company of the KM Animal Clinic and Surgery, founded in 1994 and located near the original KM Vet Pharm office. In response to our growing number of clients and the rising need for the latest animal care technologies, the clinic moved to bigger premises in Marc

h 2014, which enabled us to provide better and advanced healthcare facilities. Besides clinical treatment and surgery, we are also committed to providing our clients with a holistic approach to pet care, which led to the formation of KM Animal Wellness Center. The Center provides services for both companion animals and livestock, and aims to give all animal owners a range of services that cater to all elements of their animals’ health and wellness. The Center houses the KM Pet Shoppe, a pet store that stocks a variety of pet-related products, and KM Pets Hotel, which provides pet accommodation, pet transportation and pet funeral services. A stray orange cat has been attracting all the attention at Malaysia's national zoo after it began residing with a group of capybaras. The cat has become a social media sensation, with videos of it leisurely resting within the enclosure and cuddling with the capybaras. Surprisingly, the capybaras appear undisturbed by their unexpected feline companion. Unused medication originally intended for human coronavirus cases will be repurposed to treat cats in Cyprus suffering from feline Covid, a strain of coronavirus known as feline infectious peritonitis (FIP). This decision, announced by officials on Thursday, comes after the government's approval aligned with a recommendation from the agriculture ministry.

The widespread outbreak of FIP has been causing a significant number of feline deaths in Cyprus. The island's cabinet stated that surplus supplies of medications that were formerly used to treat human coronavirus cases but are now no longer required will be made accessible. These anti-Covid pills will be administered through veterinary services.

Animal welfare advocates have raised concerns about the escalating feline mortality rate in Cyprus, suggesting that the disease might have claimed a substantial portion of the island's one-million-strong cat population. On the contrary, the local veterinary association disputes these claims, contending that the actual death toll is far lower, estimated to be fewer than 10,000 cats.

Concurrently, the Cyprus Veterinary Association expressed their support for the cabinet's decision, highlighting that their initial request for accessible treatment has now come to fruition. The decision holds historical significance, as cats have been a part of Cyprus for centuries, purportedly introduced by Roman empress Helena to combat venomous snakes around 1,700 years ago. Archaeological evidence attests to the island's longstanding association with domesticated cats, with remains found in burial alongside humans dating back approximately 9,500 years at the Neolithic village of Shillourokambos.
