We are so glad and relieves that all outstanding bills from EngChi's shelter were cleared before entering the year of 2022. Many thanks to Charlotte & Chelsea + Family , they have paid off our furry kids medical bills, a total of RM 903.50 (Outstanding bill from February 2021 to October 2021) + RM200 cash donation to the shelter. Thank you very much for your kindness and support towards EngChi's shelter and our furry kids.

Towards the end of 2021, we would like to thanks all donors and volunteers who came help and support EngChi's shelter throughout the year. Along the way, we've had our ups and downs but we are glad that we have made it through.

Tua Bak got into a fight and lost an eye. He was sent to Cuddles hospital on Sept 7 2021, as his eye was yanked out and dangling. It happened in midnight, luckily our landlord noticed it and contacted our volunteer immediately.
TuaBak is also old at age and has cataract on his right eye. Sadly, now he can't really see well. Our volunteers have to attend to Tuabak twice daily on rotation, to his care for the past weeks and so.
His total bill has come to a total of RM814.20 We need help with his medical bill.

Through the recent Facebook post (link below), We just found out that the number that was used for our shelter is still active. we have removed that number from our page after she has resigned as a volunteer in late March 2021 (evidence attached below). We understand she registered the number and might need it for her own use, BUT the profile picture belongs to late Aunty EngChi’s photo and her urn, so as the about listed: "ONLY ONE MISSION re-home and relocate all Eng Chi's dogs."

NOTE: 2 of our full-time volunteers: Fion and Sharmaine (myself) received a legal letter from her in the month of April 2021, due to that, both parties are no longer in contact. She rarely comes to the shelter when she volunteered and didn't show up since February 2021 and has 0 communication with our volunteers, how would she knows which of our furry kids are suitable to rehome and relocate? Secondly, since then, we did not receive any funds from her side to clear off the balance medical bill (during her volunteer period) owed to the vet till today (Bill attached below).

We lost one of ours on June 19th due to tick borne disease. Even though FMCO, our volunteer went to feed them daily. He had a seizure attack on Saturday morning and were rushed to hospital. Did a blood transfusion and still couldn't make it. He is the strongest pup among all. You will be missed 大沙 (big sharpei)

We are so proud of our three furbabies as they have done their blood donation two days ago. Our volunteers didn't face any hardship while transporting them and they were all well behave while sitting at the back of the car. The only issue occurs was the doctors having hard time to find one of their veins because he's too fat 😅.

Can't emphasize enough how grateful we are to be able to give back to dogs in need of blood transfusion. Just like human, a simple task as blood donation can save lives.

Thank you everyone for your continue support towards EngChi's shelter since aunty's death. We can't do much but we will try our very best to give back to the society/dogs in need.

We took 3 of our furry kids for spaying ! They are not happy with it but it's for their own good ! Huge thanks to all the staffs and doctors in Cuddles clinic for their patience with our furry kids.

We would also want to express our gratitude to SAMA - Spay Adopt Manage Assist - Society as they have been very supportive towards aunty Engchi's rescued work. Unfortunately, aunty Engchi has passed away last December and leaving her legacy behind. Regardless, SAMA continues to support aunty's furry kids till today. Thank you for your continuous support and effort in emphasizing the important of neutering strays.

UPDATES on EngChi's Furry Kids at the shelter.

Some of our dogs and puppies were very sick and some were at the brink of death. We volunteers have been instructed to feed them medication without doctors' approval and their condition got worse which then volunteers decided to get a house call doctor. We are deeply appreciate the help from the doctor as we didnt lost any of them during the process and they are back to their normal health!

A lesson to learn for all Furry Kids parent's, unless you are familiar with the medication you are feeding them, make sure to check with your vet before giving it to them. Just like human, medicine have its side effect as it will compromise their wellbeing. You can definitely start off by giving them more natural food products such as pumpkin and carrot.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE From Engchi’s Shelter.

A volunteer who has been with Engchi’s shelter for 3 months period has decided to leave. We are thankful for her service but there are few issues we must clarify upon her resignation as a volunteer.

1. Donation and funding:
For those who have directly donate items or funds for Engchi’s shelter to Ms. April, we have only received an RM500 cheque from her so far, since EngChi’s death. Although she claimed that she is just a volunteer, she is controlling the expenditure of the shelter's account. She chooses not to clear off current debt, for what reason? We do not know. There are times where volunteers were unable to make claims as she didn’t approve.
From our understanding, when aunty passed away, she contacted aunty’s usual donors but so far, we hear nothing from them at all.
We only have a bank account for Engchi’s shelter, which is registered to Lau Voon Chen -aunty’s son. In the future, if you wish to do an in-kind or cash donation, please contact us directly at FB messenger or direct deposit to the account below.

2. Regarding Food cut:
She reduces the budget for food supply without discussing this matter with other volunteers. There are two volunteers who come in daily to feed the dogs. According to them, the previous amount of food prepared is just enough for all of them, including the 10 dogs that are still located at the old shelter. As she decided to reduce the food, since then, the landlord helps us to cook extra food to feed the dogs for the past few weeks. We are very thankful for his act of kindness as he didn’t ask any favour in return.

3. Vet visit and medication:
Since day 1 she managed the shelter, she rarely steps into the shelter. For any dogs that are unwell, she will instruct volunteers to feed antibiotics, without proper diagnosis and without doctors’ prescription. Due to that, it has caused a lot of health issues among the healthy puppies as we suspected those medications have compromised their immunity. There are times where the medication is given wasn’t recommended by vets and she argues that her method will work better than vets. Furthermore, when the dogs are sick, she restricts volunteers to bring them to the vet.
The past few weeks have been a living hell for the volunteers as some dogs are suffering from excessive coughing and fever, lethargy, and loss of appetite. Volunteers then decided to do a house call and pay on their own, the total cost is RM 540. Today, all those dogs are very active and healthier after a doctor’s visit.
She has too, promises a volunteer that she will vaccinate ALL Engchi’s dog before she leaves. As of today, no vaccination is scheduled, and some dogs are still recovering hence unable to vaccinate.
“Whichever survive, then will do the vaccination” – Ms. April.

Prior to her “OFFICIAL” resignation, she has caused many misunderstandings and arguments between volunteers, Engchi’s family members, and the landlord. We manage to straighten out everything with all the key person, therefore this post is made.

一名已我们一起打理收容所的义工即将要离开我们了，我们很感激她对收容所的付出。但是，在她离开之前，我们必须在这澄清几个问题。

1. 捐赠和资金
对于直接向英姐收容所捐赠物品或资金给April女士的人，自英姐去世以后，到目前为止，通过她的，我们只有收到一位捐赠者的RM500支票。她声称自己只是一名义工，但她控制着帐户的支出。当户口里还有资金的时候，她选择不还清当前债务是出于什么原因呢？我们也不清楚。
有时其他义工们买了东西给收容所，她不让她们索取费用。
据我们了解，当英姐过世时，她亲历亲为的联系了英姐电话里的捐赠者们，但到目前为止，没有一位英姐的捐赠者来联系到我们。

2. 减少食物量
在没有与其他义工们讨论此事，她自作主张减少了狗狗们的食品供应预算。每天有两名义工来收容所。根据她们的说法，之前的食物量是足以满足所有的狗狗，包括仍然留在旧收容所的10只狗狗们。自从她决定减少食物以来，收容所的房东一直在过去的几个星期里都帮忙煮给它们吃，也不和我们收钱。我们很感恩有这位屋主的帮忙。

3. 医疗和药物治疗
从她开始管理收容所，她几乎都没来。凡是有出现轻微生病症状的狗狗，她没来确认病情也没有医生的指示和判断下，她吩咐义工们喂抗生素。因此，很多收容所里的幼犬引起了很多健康上的问题。义工们怀疑这些药物损害了狗狗们的免疫系统。这些药物兽医都不推荐服用，但她认为她自己的方法比兽医更有效。此外，当狗生病时，她限制义工们带去兽医那里。
过去的几周，义工们都很忐忑不安。因为有些狗狗患有咳嗽，发烧，昏昏欲睡和食欲不良。因此，义工们决定自行付费请兽医到收容所替狗狗们诊断，总费用为540令吉。今日，被诊断过的狗狗们都恢复了食欲，还很活跃。
她也有答应一位义工说到在她离开前会为收容所的每一只狗狗接种疫苗。直到今天，尚未进行此计划，一些狗狗仍在恢复当中，也因此无法接种疫苗。
“只要幸存下来，就接种疫苗” – April女士对那位义工说的。

从她开始管理英姐收容所以来，她在我们（义工，英姐家庭成员和房东）之间已经引起了很多误解和争论。

我们和其他的人了解来龙去脉之后，决定发布了这篇文章来澄清。

Eng Chi’s shelter need YOUR help!

Due to lack of funding, essential supply for dogs HAVE BEEN CUT!
We have a total of 28 dogs in current shelter, feeding 10 more at the old shelter.
Every day, we cook 8 bowls of rice, 2 tray of eggs, 3 tubes of mincemeat and 5kg of chicken liver. Cost us about RM 750 monthly, not included rental and worker’s salary.

This puppy was found unconscious in the drain nearby to the shelter and wounded on his left eye. After spending several days in the hospital, his eye checks out fine and he is excited to be back with his friends in the shelter !

This is Blackie, a 6 years old black cat and he is missing since 31st of January 2021. Blackie was last seen at Jalan Salween area near to Maple Gold Restaurant, Penang.

We very sorry that to inform the public that, our shelter currently parvovirus outbreak threat, a virus that high spreading between dog,cat(but not human) and high fatality rate, sadly one pup already perish caused by parvo virus, 3 pups parvo tested positive and already admitted at vet, and another one adult dog name Mong on the way to vet for parvo testing, and 1 of the parvo pup that admitted also suffering from tick fever-babesia, a type of more dangerous type of tick fever compare with common tick fever , we expect our medical bill will be skyrocket since one and one pup falling sick cos of parvovirus and tickfever babesia, so we urgently need public help for our in coming skyrocket medical bills. When the volunteer get in the shelter in first day,some of these dogs already vaccinated but parts of these dogs not vaccinated. We cant start the vaccination plan at the first time because most of the shelter dogs suffering for tick n flea problem, we need to detick first and those dogs in healthy condition only can vaccinate, this is base on the vet advise. we are now starting to give medication and supplement to all shelter dogs as per vet advises.we also desperately need more volunteer or public help as we are currently facing lack of man power problem, and the lack of manpower problem will get those dogs in our shelter more vunerable to parvovirus outbreak attack, all of our 3 volunteers currently are working tirely to fight with the parvo virus outbreak, we do not how many pup will be fall parvo n tick fever-babesia sickness in the coming days..if you can help us contact

很不幸的通知大家，狗园现在面对着parvo病毒的威胁，一种在猫狗传播的病毒(人类不会感染)，高致死率，狗园的一只狗已经不幸被parvo病毒夺走了性命，三只小狗已经被送去兽医，正式都患上parvo,一只成年狗现在也正在送去兽医那里，其中一只小狗还被医生诊断出患上跳蚤病babesia一种比普通跳蚤病更危险的细菌。随着一只接一只的狗患上parvo virus,我们可以预料我们的医药费酱会暴涨,我们呼吁大众多多帮助我们的医疗费用，从第一天义工们进入狗园帮忙，一些狗已经打了疫苗，但一些狗还没有，我们不能第一时间为他们打疫苗，因为狗狗身上都有严重的跳蚤问题(义工已经第一时间帮狗狗施放除跳蚤药)，身体状况不适合打疫苗，兽医的建议也是在狗狗健康良好的状况下才可以打疫苗，义工们现在也购买一些药物和补充营养素来替狗园的狗狗增强免疫力。我们也严重的缺乏人手，人手短缺问题又会为狗园的狗狗面对parvo病毒的威胁，希望有义工朋友可以进来狗园帮忙我们，现在三个义工已经忙到焦头烂额，我们急需人手。我们也不知道接下来会不会有更多狗儿因为parvo virus或跳蚤病babesia而倒下，越多狗儿生病送院，我们的医药费将会暴涨，如果您可以帮忙我们请wasap +60176323066
