🌱✨ Inspiring AgroSTEM Journey at Shih Chung Pusat PIBK ✨🌱

Today, We're honor to share a special moment from our recent AgroSTEM project at Shih Chung Pusat PIBK in Georgetown, Penang! We had the privilege of introducing our VGROW INDOOR HEXA Vertical Farming System to 30 special needs students, teachers, and staff.

The students may have learning disabilities were full of excitement and curiosity as they learned vertical gardening techniques, got hands-on with the setup, and even transplanted live seedlings into the HEXA system! It was heartwarming to see how engaged and enthusiastic they were, asking questions and diving into the experience with eagerness. 🌿💚

This project aligns with our commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in providing Quality Education (SDG 4), promoting Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), and fostering Climate Action (SDG 13). of our AgroSTEM Journey with PIBK SJKC Sacred Heart, Balik Pulau 槟城浮罗圣心小学! 🌱🚀
Today marked an exciting milestone as the students and teachers of SJKC Sacred Heart dove into sustainable farming with our VGROW INDOOR HEXA Vertical Farming System! Through this hands-on AgroSTEM workshop, students and teachers learned firsthand about vertical farming and the tech behind VGROW system, building knowledge that aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3, 4, 11, 12, 13, and 17.

The workshop started with setting up the VGROW system, followed by interactive sessions on transplanting live seedlings and maintaining the system. The conversation took place during the 5th International Social Development Conference 2024 at UUM, where innovative solutions for social and environmental advancement took center stage.

Thank you for sharing this update APPGM-SDG! VFARM and APPGM-SDG’s collaboration is truly transforming school education by integrating vertical farming into the curriculum, which brings both immediate and long-term benefits.

These 20-school projects go beyond simply teaching students modern agricultural practices. By introducing them to vertical farming, students gain hands-on experience with sustainable food production, fostering an understanding of environmental stewardship and resource conservation. This initiative supports SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) by enhancing food security within schools, and SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing innovative learning experiences. But the impact doesn’t stop there.

SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) is also positively impacted, as students learn the value of nutritious, locally grown food, encouraging healthier lifestyles and eating habits. Additionally, by promoting resource-efficient methods in farming, these projects contribute to SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and SDG 13 (Climate Action)—both of which focus on sustainable water usage and minimizing environmental impact.

The initiative’s alignment with SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) also prepares students for future opportunities in green industries, equipping them with valuable skills in agriculture, technology, and sustainability. 🌱📚 Program Pertanian Menegak di Sekolah - 28/10/2024

En. Gary dari VFarm, Rakan Solusi Kebun Komuniti APPGM-SDG, memberi taklimat tentang projek pertanian menegak (vertical farming) yang sedang dilaksanakan di 20 buah sekolah. Dua projek ini bertujuan memperkenalkan kaedah pertanian moden kepada pelajar sekolah.

Inisiatif ini memberi pendedahan tentang teknologi pertanian mampan dan memupuk minat pertanian di kalangan generasi muda. Program ini juga menyumbang kepada sekuriti makanan sekolah.

Mr. Gary from VFarm, APPGM-SDG's Community Farm Solution Partner, briefed on the vertical farming projects being implemented in 20 schools. These two projects aim to introduce modern farming methods to school students.

🌱 WHOA! Huge congratulations to 根登国民型华文学校 SJKC Kundang for harvesting their very first batch of mixed veggies and baby greens with the help of the amazing VGROW HEXA tower! 🌿

Thanks to the generous support of KLK Berhad KLK Oleo, this project is now bringing fresh produce and hands-on learning experiences right into the school.

During the long school holiday, no one was around to tend to the HEXA system, yet it didn’t miss a beat! When teachers and students returned, they were greeted with a lush growth of vegetables that continued to thrive, showcasing the power of this controlled environment agriculture (CEA) system. It’s a wonderful example of how innovative technology like HEXA can work independently, creating a steady supply of fresh produce.
