Are we able to eliminate strays?… yes, we can. Netherlands has done it. In order to do so, we need to change our attitude on one hand and on the other, systematically follow measures proposed. Catching n killing is definitely not a measure to eliminate strays.

Until we achieve zero strays, we need to Co-exist with empathy!!!

Rescued & Loved Story 6 - The Gang from Concubine Lane.

My mama-san left me and my brother one day while we were living in a pub. Months later, my brother Socks walked out of 27 @ Concubine Lane and disappeared too. My buddy JoJo got hit n killed by a reckless human, I then got myself a new buddy - Ginger.

We eventually became the symbol of 27 @ Concubine Lane. We greeted guests when they checked in, said ‘Good Morning’ to them the next day, and wished them well when they leave. At times, Ginger got invited to stay in their rooms while I accompanied papa at the loft. Those were the good old days when we get to roam in Concubine Lane and everyone knows us.

We eventually moved and stayed in papa’s house. We get to have a room with attached bathroom for ourselves! The environment looks nice and clean from the window. Yes from the window as mama prohibited us from roaming outside due to our un-friendly cousins - four legged barking dogs!! Darn…

As days gone by, I was taken ill due to a deadly disease I got while in Concubine Lane… I now play with Socks, JoJo, Charcoal and Charlie at the rainbow bridge looking down at Ginger and that white fluffy snob - Snowball. Be good you two. Keep papa company n take care of Tasha… until we meet / play again…

Rescued & Loved Story 5 - Tasha

Although the longkang provided shelter, it was dark and dirty. It stands a chance of being flooded too. Despite all these, it was a safe place for both mom and I.

We were given scraps by the uncle at the guard house … but my life changed when one day, an auntie who lives in the guarded community saw me and my mom running to our safe place whenever a car drove passed. She started to give the uncle guard packet of cat food every month until I’m used to the uncle.

One morning, when I was happily enjoying the cat food, uncle grabbed me n put me in a cage. He tried to get mom but mom ran away. I was sent to auntie’s house n next… I was adopted by auntie.

Yes… I do miss mom but I have adopted siblings to keep me company. No more dark and dirty longkang… I share a room with bathroom attached with my other adopted siblings. I’m loved.

Rescued & Loved Story 4 - TJ

TJ short form for traffic junction or Tambun junction. Yes, I was picked up in this location. I guess I was lost and didn’t know what to do. I stood in between two cars that were waiting for the lights to turn green. I should have crossed the road but I didn’t instead I stood there n wondered…

When I turned my head, I saw a lady walking towards me, stopped n picked me up. Next I realised I was in the back seat of this lady’s car. This lady became my mom.

I was sent to the vet for checks and skin treatment. I stayed in mom’s backyard for a while until my other siblings accepted me. Since then… I’m spoiled rotten… I guess you can understand why by looking at me now…

Rescued & Loved Story 3 - Tarzan

Yes, I’m given the name Tarzan simply because I was rescued and brought out from Kledang Hill.

For those who hike in Kledang Hill, will know there’s a stream that one needs to cross in order to access the various jungle routes, yes … I was found just after the stream.

My auntie went hiking one day and saw me there. She couldn’t rescue me then but vowed she’ll come back for me the next day. I waited patiently at the same spot and was so glad to see her the next day. She brought a slice of bread and a leash. I was so hungry and cold, did not put up a fight and in fact, I gladly let her put on the leash and followed her out from the jungle.

She put me in her car and drove straight to the vet in Ipoh Garden. I spent a few days in the vet - checks, medication and most of all regain my energy, until one day, auntie’s sister came and brought me home. Yippie!!!

I now live with two other siblings in my mommy’s house. No nasty jungle animals and certainly no harsh condition. I get to run in the garden. Dad feeds us and most of all, I can be me…mischievous! I love barking at auntie’s husband as he loves to tease me…

Yes… I’m Tarzan in my own way…

Rescued & Loved Story 2 - Snowball

‘Na… it’s just a plastic bag. Just pick it up’, hello uncle (now my papa), i’m not a plastic bag! I’m a fluffy Persian look-alike cat wondering in Ipoh Old Town.

Don’t ask me where I come from? Who’s my owner? … I simply don’t know or rather don’t want to recall.

Mama brought me back to my present home. She’s worried that I’ll get kidnapped if I stay in Ipoh Old Town. Yes… I’m different from the rest of them. That makes me special…

Since 2014 / 15, I’m staying with papa n mama in a big house. I have a room with attached bathroom all to myself… but as days went by, some Garfield looking short hair fatty and his gang invaded my space and I’m forced to share my room…. @$(&(

Why? Oh why? Don’t you think I deserve a room to myself? … don’t you think I’m different aka special?

Rescued and Loved Story 1 - Poocha (Part 2)

Life in Ipoh had been good despite some shifting and adjusting. As days gone by, from having one brother to having another brother and 4 sisters, I was overwhelmed. Grumpy n easily agitated. Age was not helping either.

All 6 / 7 of us live amicably except that BB. I just can’t stand that blackie… she often annoyed me n when I snapped back, she would attacked me. Mom tried to discipline her but she just won’t listen.

One day, mom and dad went out for dinner. Blackie attacked me n this time round, I lost the battle completely. When mom and dad returned from dinner, mom saw me lying in pool of blood n she yelled n went hysterical.

I had 13 wonderful years with mom. Thank you auntie Kay for rescuing me. Thank you to all the aunties and uncles whom have loved and took care of me. My life had changed.

While waiting for mom at the rainbow bridge. I met my other sisters and brothers. We play and have fun. At times, I whisper to mom n she too whisper to me.

That’s my story…

怡保的生活一直很美好，尽管有些变动和调整。随着时间的流逝，从一个兄弟到又有一个兄弟和四个妹妹，我感到有些不知所措。我变得脾气暴躁，容易生气。年龄也不再帮忙。

我们6/7个人和睦相处，除了那只BB。我简直受不了那只黑猫……她经常惹我生气，每当我反击时，她就会攻击我。妈妈试图管教她，但她就是不听。

有一天，妈妈和爸爸出去吃晚饭。黑猫又袭击了我，这一次，我彻底失败了。当妈妈和爸爸从晚餐回来时，妈妈看到我躺在血泊中，她尖叫起来，陷入了歇斯底里。

我和妈妈度过了美好的13年时光。感谢凯姨救了我。感谢所有爱过我、照顾过我的阿姨和叔叔们。我的生活已经改变了。

在彩虹桥等待妈妈的时候，我遇见了我的其他姐妹和兄弟。我们一起玩耍，开心快乐。有时，我对妈妈低声说话，她也对我低声说话。

这就是我的故事…

Rescued & Loved Story 1 - Poocha

Mom told me quietly that my aunt has started a group for the strays / abandoned. Here’s my story.

I was living in Cheras with my 4 children but my mommy n daddy then didn’t love me. I wasn’t given any food hence I got to sneaked out and looked for food n bring them for my kids. It wasn’t my fault that I created a little mess in the neighbourhood and it certainly wasn’t my kids’.

When neighbours told my mommy / daddy then, one of my kids was kicked to death n thrown out. I was so heartbroken…until one day, auntie Kay and her friend came n rescued me and my remaining kids. She waited for me to sneak out with my kids n caught all of us.

Although I was sad that I can’t be with my kids, I know they have gone to good n loving homes. As for me, I was sent to my new mommy who has lost her daughter Princess tragically.

Mom n I had jolly good time. Every morning we went for walks and eventually one day, di di joined us. When mom worked long hours, di di n I stayed home. We played. We slept and we ‘fought’.

Later mom decided to move back to Ipoh n brought us along. Di di n I started our new lives in Ipoh…

关于救助与爱的故事分享-1 【Poocha】

我是Poocha，是一只被主人抛弃的流浪狗。曾经，我和四个孩子宝宝住在Cheras，但那时我的前主人并不爱我。他们没有给我任何食物，所以我不得不偷偷溜出去寻找食物，然后带回给我的孩子宝宝们。由于经常饱受风吹雨打及挨饿，对附近的邻居们造成骚扰，但，这绝对不是我的错…也不是我孩子宝宝们的错…

在最恶劣环境生存之下，我其中一个孩子被踢死了，然后被扔出去。我心碎了…

直到有一天，凯姐和她的朋友来了，他们救了我和剩下的孩子宝宝们。虽然，我很伤心不能和我的孩子们在一起，但我知道它们已经去了一个好，而且充满爱的家庭。

至于我Poocha，也被送到了一个新的家庭生活。

在一个新的家庭环境，我和妈妈度过了快乐的时光。每天早上我们都去散步，最后有一天，弟弟也加入了我们。

当妈妈工作很长时间时，弟弟和我就待在家里一起玩乐…

后来，妈妈决定搬回怡保，并把我们带回去。弟弟和我开始了在怡保的新生活…… 【未完待续】

Love for the homeless / abandoned strays need no age boundaries. A group of UTAR (Kampar campus) students took some time off from their studies and volunteered to help / improve the shelter’s facilities and most of all, love / play with our four legged kiddos. Kudos to this group of young adults…
