Tips to EAT HEALTHY - Know the source of your food.

By purchasing direct from your local farm, you’ll know exactly where and how the food has been grown.

When food is fresh, it generally tastes better, and it can even provide more vitamins than similar food that take longer to get to the us.

Eating locally also means your food doesn’t have to travel as far to get to your plate. Less travel means less carbon emissions negatively impacting the environment.

Most of the food available in supermarkets now, has a considerable amount of air miles. It’s likely the food will have been grown hundreds, maybe even thousands of miles away, and then flown into the local area.

Why Aquaponics??
Aquaponics is a natural ecosystem where we rely on the nutrient-rich water from raising fish to provide natural fertilizer for the plants.

The nutritional value of vegetables grown in aquaponics tends to be higher than vegetables grown in the ground

It is absolutely an organic process. In fact, it doesn’t work unless it is organic. If pesticides are applied to the plants, the fish will suffer. Conversely, if growth hormones or antibiotics are given to the fish, the plants will suffer.

Every element that we add to our system must be plant-safe, fish-safe, and definitely nothing that’s anti-bacterial!

What is Aquaponics??
Aquaponics is a sustainable farming system that combines raising fish in tanks (recirculating aquaculture) with soilless plant culture (hydroponics). In aquaponics, the nutrient-rich water from raising fish provides a natural fertilizer for the plants and the plants help to purify the water for the fish.

Aquaponics is a completely natural process that mimics all lakes, ponds, rivers and waterways on Earth. The only input into an aquaponics system is fish food. The fish eat the food and excrete waste, which is converted by beneficial bacteria to nutrients that the plants can use. In consuming these nutrients, the plants help to purify the water. You cannot use herbicides, pesticides or other harsh chemicals in an aquaponics system, making the fish and plants healthful and safe to eat.
