To all who are planning to move their pet dogs or cats to Australia from Malaysia

Australia have changed their regulations and effective 1 March 202e:

On 1 March 2023 we will be implementing revised import conditions for dogs and cats. The step-by-step guides reflect the revised import conditions.

If your cat or dog will be imported to Australia prior to 1 March 2023 you will need to refer to your import permit for the applicable import conditions.

See more about changes to rabies virus requirements for live dog and cat imports. We will contact permit holders and applicants directly to advise how this affects you.

If you intend to import cats, dogs or frozen canine semen into Australia you must comply with our import conditions.

We provide step-by-step guides to help you understand the import requirements. You can find links to these guides under each country group. Use them as a guide only. Your import permit will contain the definitive import conditions.

If your country of export does not appear in the list of Group 1, 2, or 3 countries, you’ll need to move your animal to a Group 2 or 3 country and prepare them using the step-by-step guide for that approved country. From 1 March 2023 the non-approved via Group 2 or 3 country pathway will no longer be available for the import of cats and dogs to Australia.

So there will be no short cuts available, whichever country your client's pet moves to, the pet will have to complete 180 days in that country, and follow the regulations of moving your pet from that individual country to Australia.

Bringing down your cool weather clothes from the attic? Beware of mothballs. The ingestion of just one mothball can cause significant problems. Naphthalene - an offending chemical found in some brands of mothballs - is toxic to dogs, cats and other animals, and if ingested, can cause serious illness, including vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, swelling of the brain tissue, seizures, damage to the liver, kidneys and blood cells, coma and even death.

Unfortunately Facebook feels the photos of the dog being treated for TVT are too graphic. TVT is spread from dog to dog during mating, and is entirely preventable by neutering pets. This dog has a guardian angel who rescued her, and is funding the entire treatment. God bless. In Punjabi, we say Rab Rakha. God bless you / watch over you

Many pets don’t go to their recommended annual vet visit, forgoing the benefits of preventive medicine.

One significant reason? Stress—from wrangling your cat into a carrier, from sitting next to yowling cats in a packed waiting room, and from watching your precious feline friend lash out in fear. It’s no wonder so many pets skip their veterinary visits.

The good news is that with some time and training, you can help your cat go from fear-full vet visits to fear-free vet visits.

Here are seven steps to calm fears and turn your furry friend into a pet who loves the vet... hopefully 😜.

If your dog gets something stuck in its throat and is choking, you can use the Heimlich Maneuver that's used on humans on your dog too.

Vets are no strangers to pressure, but Covid and the huge boom in pets means they have never been busier – or experienced so much stress. Will Coldwell hears why so many are now turning their backs on the profession they love
