Jaw wiring, also known as mandibular fixation, is a surgical procedure performed to treat lower mandibular symphysis fractures in cats.

These fractures often occur as a result of trauma, such as being hit by a car (HBC) or experiencing a fall from a height (high rise syndrome).

Jaw wiring helps to regain stability in the fractured mandible, allowing the cat to resume normal eating and drinking behaviors. It is crucial for ensuring proper alignment of the jaw bones, facilitating healing, and preventing complications associated with untreated fractures.

Regular follow-up visits with the veterinarian are essential to monitor the cat's progress, remove any fixation devices when appropriate, and ensure optimal recovery.
