If you noticed and are wondering why your dog eats their own poop or any other pet's poop, here are the top 3 common reasons that we have found!

Here are some solutions which can help you too!

For reason no. 1, you may want to provide more mental and physical stimulation for your dog by considering using a dog walker to provide them with company during the day. Sometimes when your dog is stressed when they’re apart from you, eating poo may help soothe them.

For reason no. 2, this one is tricky but we would advise you to provide a coprophagia deterrent supplement that can be bought from your local pet store and incorporate into your dog's diet. The coprophagia deterrent will kind of cause the poop to be less appealing to your dog. 😅

For reason no. 3, if you are suspecting something more serious, it is best to bring your dog to your local vet to have a health check just to cover all of your bases.

If your dog starts eating their own poo, it's important to understand that you must not punish them. Punishing them won't solve the problem and it might even make things worse. You should always try to solve the problem at its root by first understanding that it is not unusual for dogs to eat poop and there is always a better way to solve the issue.
