Nilai's Brief

Remember Nilai with the vehicular accident?

Nilai was discharged with an unfortunate amputation to his beyond save limb.

The veterinary bill totaled RM1,724.60. A huge thank you to MR Chin of THANKQ donation of RM2,000. Miss Stacey Wong contributed RM500 too. Francis will purchase rice for our home with the balance funds.

Again thanks to MR Chin of THANKQ and Miss Stacey Wong for enabling Nilai's rescue.

Can A Dog Love Again After Having Been Abandoned?

This is Ampang boy from Ampang market.

A senior citizen and a cast aside. His feather brained owner ditched him with nary a care, expecting him to fend for himself on the streets. Subjecting him to hunger, thirst and skin disease.

Left on his own in an unfamiliar and unfriendly place, he is confused and distressed. A threat looms in the horizon: the usual unfeeling council threatened to remove him aka kill him.

Francis sent him to Veterinary Clinic Mayo for the necessary medical process i.e blood test, sterilisation etc.

Another Day, Another Rescue 💁🏻🐕🤕

Answering an urgent distress call, Francis dashed to Nilai Industrial Park Nilai 3，

There, he saved a two year old boy, a victim of a severe vehicular accident.

We named him Nilai. The poor soul suffered an extensive leg injury with a protruding bone. Terrified, lying on a makeshift bed of cardboards, he could only moved his scared eyes helplessly.

Francis sent him to Veterinary Clinic Mayo to be treated.

We request God's healing touch on our beloved Nilai. May he bathe in comfort and love during these difficult times.

Today 9 June 2024 is our home's mass vaccination day so ouch! 🧑🏻‍🔬💉🐶

While the sun hangs low over our home, Dr Khor and his team from Veterinar Klinik Mayo arrived.

The clinic's and Francis' care teams corralled us ensuring no residents were left unjabbed.

This year's mass vaccination drive was enabled by Miss JC Lee and pet owners boarding their pets with us.

Grateful thanks to Miss JCLee 🙏🏻 and Dr Khor clinic for their efficiency.

Three Years Now, 现在三年了

Hei Zi 黑子, fiercer than any dog 😠🐕 in our home, since his dramatic rescue in 2020.

Trying everything under the sun, Francis extended care, love and time to Hei Zi. But the boy did not respond in kind. He did not return Francis' favours.

He still does not accept head pats and walks from Francis. All day, he glares suspiciously at Francis, his care team and his kind.

Sigh... looks like his anger management issue is still an issue. Have you any counter anger management issue ideas? Please do let us know

*World Animal Day in our Home 🌎🐶🏡*

World Animal Day is an annual international event to celebrate animal rights and welfare. This year, it falls on a Wednesday, October 4th, 2023.

A day which brings together people who are advocating for the improved treatment and welfare of animals.

Miss Deepi's group, our devoted patron arranged their customary grooming session on that day. Three groomers ably groomed 17 dogs out of which her group sponsored 11.

Francis prepared a clean and dry area for the groomers to work in. Out came all the dog grooming tools, coveralls, while some of us stared with fascination and anticipation. Believe you us, some of us done it before.

So, the full works started: remove mats and tangles, pre-bath nail clippings and trimmings, bathing, drying, combing and brushing, ear cleaning, Oh Lord, it went on for ages.

At long last, 17 of us were spanking clean, shining brighter than the sun with sparkling eyes and gleaming coats.

Dear Miss Deepi's group, we know you have a lot of choices when it comes to donating and supporting. We are so grateful that you chose us. Thank you

*Ol' Sammy 萨米 🐕 Is Back In Shape Too*

Sammy too, is back in business after his lump removal surgery on his left stomach.

He is with us in Lucky Dogs Home, living an easy and laid back life.

Though rescued dogs like Sammy have had a rough start in life, they are lost souls looking for second chances.

Animals suffer as much as we do. True humanity does not allow us to impose such sufferings on them. It is our duty to make the whole world recognize it. Until we extend our circle of compassion to all living things, humanity will not find peace.

Let not the droopy, long face fool you guys.

Ah Huat Ge's recovery is a triumph! He beat his nasal cancer, for the present. He breezed through his sixth shot of Vincristine.

Soon, he will run with the other furry chums in our shelter and become active again. He will be royally spoilt and live a fine life.

Ah Huat Ge's veterinary bill of RM1,155.00 with Klinik Veterinar Mayo was picked up by a nice individual. With great gratitude, we thank you.

Another boy with nasal cancer 😭.

Via an anxious informant, Francis undertook to receive, treat and absorb Ah Huat Ge.

The wretched woof was happily making his pad at the front of a kind Malay shopkeeper's shop in Taman Saujana Jati, Klang. Down on his luck with a swelling profile ...

Now at Veterinary Clinic Mayo, attending veterinarians confirmed Ah Huat Ge's nose cancer.

For dogs, nasal tumors make up about 1–2% of all cancers and about 80% of the nasal tumors are malignant.

Because these tumors are hidden inside the nasal cavity, they are more difficult to detect. By the time signs are noticeable and a diagnosis is made, nasal cancer is typically at an advanced stage. Nasal tumors are locally aggressive.

Nasal tumors can eat away at the surrounding tissues, bone plate and even into the cranial vault that the brain occupies.

Ah Huat Ge, still chipper, is very sickly, out of sorts and hugely terrified. He does not have a mini clue what is going on around him.

His treatment gets off the ground today. The first step of action is pain management. He will likely be prescribed anti-inflammatory drugs and opioids to relieve pain throughout treatment.

Then, he will receive administration of Vincristine injections, a drug commonly used to treat malignant cancers in cats and dogs.

As with any cancer, the earlier it is diagnosed and treated, the better the chances that treatment will be successful.

Please everyone reading this, send the prayers of power, love and abundant healings to Ah Huat Ge. Help him find deep healing in both modern medicine and the power of your prayers. Thank you 🙏🏻.

*小聪明 Xiao Cong Ming aka Smarties Is Really Smart*

Smarties 🐶👨🏻‍🎓, our smart-aleck...

Heartbreaking 💔 story. But Smarties' day finally came when Francis got wind of him.

As he gazed at the people whizzing by, the abandoned boy wearing a chain hoped someone might spot him and bring him somewhere warm.

Someone spotted him journeyed across an LRT rail track spilling onto a busy marketplace. Wandering, searching, waiting for his owner 😭.

Smarties is around five or six years old, a sweet dog who did not deserve to be cast aside by his family. But boy, he is a clever Dick, seeking humans' help to help him.

Aside from the sadness in his eyes, Smarties is a handsome dog. An animal's eyes have the power to speak a great language. He is purposeful but patient.

Smarties was very nervous but not aggressive when he was finally brought to the rescue.

It took some patience, love and dedication to get this dog to understand that we were there to help him. Sadly he was still holding out for his family. His family let him down. We will not.

Every year, millions of animals end up in shelters all across the globe. These animals are either rescued from the streets or dropped off at the shelters. Though a lot of these shelters provide outstanding care and attention, there are still limitations to what we can do.

As an individual, you can contribute to these efforts in a lot of different ways. Running a shelter involves a ton of work and they will need all the help they can get.

Offering even a small donation or volunteering a short amount of your time can make a huge difference.

Helping animals in need is one of the most rewarding things you can do. Even the smallest things can have significant effects on the lives of animals in the shelter. If you are not able to volunteer or foster, you can still help.

You make a huge impact when you donate to save animals. The funds will be used to buy supplies like food and medicine, and to improve the shelter’s facilities. Remember, every little bit counts.

Smarties will spend a short period of time at the veterinary clinic, where he will receive the medical attention he needs after being neglected for so long. Though he was skittish at first, Smarties soon grew to love the friendly staff at the clinic.

Soon, he will be neutered and make his forever home in our shelter. And then he can finally put his tragic past behind him.

We love you, Smarties. There is no looking back now. Onward march to a great dog life 🐶🏝🍧!

*Paw Salutes 🐾 To Our Taiwanese Saviour 😇🇹🇼*

Saved by grace through faith!

Just as our shelter's feed supply 🦴 was running dangerously low .....

We were languishing around our homey shelter one daybreak, each sought to find each's cool spot. It was like an oven out there. Absolutely boiling out there! It is the dog days of Malaysia's tropical climate. Roasting with high humidity!

Soon we eavesdropped on Francis talking to a shelter help that a Taiwanese animal sympathizer donated RM5,000.00 to our home.

Yay! 💰🐶🦴

Thank you for your timely gift, dear helping hand! The funds you provided, we will move forward and make every possible effort to provide excellent care and fill the tummies of the residents in our home.

With your help, we will continue to feed, rescue, shelter and medically care for the animals from the streets, the storms and the spill.

*The First Few Days - Lone Ranger 🦮🤠 Is Set Up For Success 🎈🎉🎊*

There she is! All fine and dandy now. In our shelter, her new and eternal home.

After a session of Methycobal 500 mcg tablets for nerve ailments and supplement, she is happy, healthy and carefree plus limp free!

At a later time, Francis will deworm 🪱 and vaccinate 💉 the little babe 👶🏻.

When you introduce a puppy to a shelter, remember that we are not best mates yet. We are virtually strangers. The first few days in a new home are really stressful for a young' un.

But Lone Ranger was having none of those. She fit in well like a glove 🧤.

Yet, Francis the worrywart introduced Lone Ranger to her new home by showing her around, indoors and outdoors, with a happy voice, treats and play. Showed her where her food bowls and sleeping areas are and laid out her toys for her. She must be giggling from within.

From day one, she was already in normal puppy play mode: bowing her head, wagging her tail, darting back and forth, emitting high pitched barks and growls and spontaneously 'attacking' new friends and objects. Ears up with an open mouth and relaxed.

Next step: to sterilize the young' un in 4 to 5 months' time. Meantime, carry on with your puppy play, dearest Lone Ranger.

*Hey, I Got My Nose Back 🦮👃🏻 - 小鼻子*

Nosey is recovering from nasal cancer after three doses of Vincristine. Left two doses 💉💉.

Six million dogs will die of cancer this year alone. That is a lot of dogs and the number is rapidly growing each year. Canine cancer comes at birth for some dogs but may be preventable for others. Cancer is the number one cause of dog deaths in the world, yet has some of the harshest and least effective treatments.

Canine cancer is widespread and more should be done to prevent such a deadly disease.

*Where Are You Going, Lone Ranger 🐶🤠🐎 - 独行侠?*

She was spotted one awesomely breezy morning 🌞🌬 - racing and greeting every folk in a park. Her left limp did not deter Lone Ranger from making her presence felt!

Most dogs just love to go out 🐕⚽🏞!

They can feel the vast space around them and regardless of being on a leash or not, they feel that they can roam free and explore the world. Dogs enjoy being outside because to them it is where everything interesting happens!

By late evening, Lone Ranger was still straying in the council's recreational park.

Sadly but wisely, Francis removed her from the high risk area to protect Lone Ranger. So her freedom was curbed for her own safety. This is her reality!

Francis swiftly de-fleaed, de-ticked her.

Soon she will make a medical trip to our vets to have her limp looked at.

Dearest Lone Ranger, wishing you a speedy recovery! Feel better soon. You will be feeling healthy and strong again soon! 🐶🦵🏻🙏🏻

Francis Saves Klangite, Little Nose 小鼻子 🐶👃🏻

Nosey has a delightful appearance that makes you smile in amazement. It shows how pretty he is. His warm as the sun look melts our hearts 🌞🫰🏻❤.

Xiao Bi Zi hails from Solok Selat Selatan 21B, Pandamaran, Port Klang! To some folks, that is a faraway land. Nonetheless, through a dog feeder tipster, Francis came to the lad's aid.

Nosey is with Klinik Veterinar Mayo right now. You see, he has nasal cancer 🐶👃🏻🤕.

Nasal adenocarcinoma is the most common type of nasal tumor (cancer) found in dogs. This type of tumor can occur anywhere in a dog's nasal passage, including the sinus area. Nasal adenocarcinoma is typically aggressive in the nasal area, but it rarely metastasizes (spreads) to other areas of the body.

With us earnestly praying for a miraculous recovery and pinning our hopes luck is on Nosey's side, his veterinarians got the ball rolling to test his 🩸 plus initiate Vincristine treatment 💉.

Vincristine, a plant alkaloid, is a chemotherapeutic agent that is widely used to treat various neoplastic disorders, such as lymphomas, leukemias and sarcomas in dogs and cats.

Without treatment, the median survival time for dogs with a nasal tumor ranges from three to five months 😢😥.

Finding out a dog is sick is difficult and it can make you fearful that you are going to lose your best friend.

Folks, we need all the prayers for Nosey and get well soon wishes you can possibly muster!

*3 Legged 3️⃣🦵🏻🐶 - So Alive And Beautiful*

Though a dog may be missing a leg, they can live a long and healthy life without it. Dogs with three legs can certainly adapt to their situation and make for playful, loving and lifelong companions.

While they may have only three legs, they can certainly go on to live a healthy and long life. They usually do not require any specialized or ongoing care other than what is needed post-amputation.

*What Is a Tripod Dog?*

A dog with only three legs is called a “tripod.” This means either a forelimb or hind limb is missing because of trauma from a car accident, catastrophic event or amputation (surgical removal) due to infection, cancer, limb deformity or fracture.

Dogs can be very resilient and often a three-legged animal soon forgets the missing limb altogether. Three-legged dogs can live long, happy and healthy lives with minimal adjustment to their lifestyle.

*The Grand Old Man 👴🏻🐕🤕 Is Feeling Sick*

Choo Choo is sufficiently under the weather. He is one of the senior pioneering dogs in the time of Uncle Vin's days; Francis stepped in after uncle's death to manage and rechristened the shelter Lucky Dogs Home.

Dogs are not called ‘man’s best friends’ for nothing. They are lovably loyal and quickly weave their furry faces into our hearts. This is why it can get tough when your faithful furry friend gets sick or will undergo surgery.

Choo Choo is going through Vincristine treatment for the cancerous tumour on his right buttock.

Vincristine, also known as Oncovin®️, belongs to a group of medications known as vinca alkaloids and is obtained from the plant Cantharanthus roseus. It is often used for dogs and cats to treat malignant cancers of the lymphoid and blood systems. The drug is commonly used in the treatment of cancer.

Side effects of Vincristine can include a reduction in appetite, vomiting, and occasional diarrhea. Side effects of Vincristine typically occur in the first 24-72 hours after treatment. Francis and help are keeping an eagle eye 🦅👁 on Choo Choo.

Everyone, please pray for God's touch on Choo Choo. He knows our fears and worries for our furry buddies and will take them away.

How can you express love and concern over the loss of a beloved canine?

Regardless of intensive medical treatment and loads of TLCs, Lululala left us on 23 January.

When a dog dies, it is hard to describe the multitude of emotions you have. What can a few words do?

Lululala is gone but memories of her live on...

*Shrimp 🦐 Farm Paradise (Tian Tang 🌞🏞 天堂)*

A short time ago in early October 2022, through an ever supportive champion's recommendation, Francis ably rehoused 5 rambunctious residents to an expansive shrimp farm in Taiping, Perak.

A shrimp 🦐 farm is an aquaculture business for the cultivation of marine shrimp or prawns for human consumption.

The "as far as your eyes can see" wide open space, lush green attractive landscape bisected by cool silent shrimp ponds is hauntingly beautiful. Rolling hills backgrounded the farm. Small hills with gentle undulating slopes that extend a long way into the distance.

Adding to that, a delightful plus point is the farm owner with his helpers are all animal loving people. An ideal recipe for dogs to grow and have fun all day long.

A perfect "spot-on" spot for the reputable "terror 5", well known for their super explosive action and energy. These are high powered robo dogs 🐕🔋🔌!

A true blue animal rescuer with her friends took time off at the onset of this rabbit lunar year to look in on the shrimp farm dogs. She gave a lot of compliments. The conducive environment has a formative influence on the dogs' physical and mental development.

The "terror 5" are flourishing and in good shape!

They tucked their butt and took off running wild laps around their guests!

The benefits of dogs on any farm are numerous from controlling pests to increasing revenue, a dog may become essential to your operation!

Rabbit is a beloved animal, symbolizing grace, mercy, auspiciousness and good luck. We wish all these for the "terror 5".

They may not always have had the best start in life but they have lots of love and affection now in their furever home 🐶🏡.
