No More Failure In Planting!

"It's so easy to take care of this. We think we can open a farm already," said one of the form 3 student in SMAPK . Its so good to hear this. One of the objectives for Skylego is like to achieve. About a month of hard work in taking care of the plants, the results have been overwhelming.

From Skylego's side as a player and with experience in the industry, we're trying to share everything we know. So that all parties can get the correct information related to the fertigation, hydroponic, aquaponic and plant management systems.

The sharing session in the classroom and the practical had a huge impact to ensure that all the right informations and learning be delivered correctly. Students also shared a lot of their experience in maintaining this.

And here the results. Very satisfied. They are really excited with their own vegetables. They can do this easily and the important thing is they are success.
Once again praise to all the teachers for their cooperation.

“Senang je nak jaga ni bang, kami dah boleh buka ladang ni”, kata salah seorang pelajar tingkatan 3 ni. Senyum je team Skylego dengar ni. Selama sebulan bertungkus lumus untuk jaga sistem ni, finally hasilnya sangat menggembirakan.

Dari pihak Skylego team sebagai pemain dan ada pengalaman dalam industri ni, kami cuba kongsi segala maklumat yang kami tahu. Supaya semua pihak dapat maklumat yang betul berkaitan dengan sistem fertigasi, hidroponik, akuaponik dan juga pengeurusan tanaman.

Sesi sharing yang di dalam bilik darjah beserta amali selama 4 jam ni memberi impak yang besar bagi memastikan segala maklumat dan pembelajaran yang betul dapat disampaikan. Pelajar juga banyak ceritakan pengalaman diorang jaga ni.

Modern Agriculture Practical For Students.

The start was due to the efforts of this teacher. Their passion for teaching them to understand clearly for this ‘reka bentuk’ subject is impressive. At the same time, this kind of planting system can be as a modern garden at school. Its like "kill two birds with a stone".

Skylego team's pound fertigation installation makes 2 types so it's easier to learn.

The process will be easier as the teachers already knows everything about the system. And they will split the duties to the students. Mean, the students will take care the system. Even so, the Skylego team still updated with them and follow SOP planting from Skylego.

‘Reka Bentuk’ subject is one of the government's efforts to introduce agricultural technology in Malaysia at the school level. Another very impressive effort that can attract young people to venture into agriculture to ensure food security as well as to be competitive with foreign countries in the future.

Permulaannya adalah disebabkan oleh usaha dari Cikgu ni. Semangat dia untuk ajar anak-anak muridnya dalam memahami dengan lebih jelas untuk subjek reka bentuk ni sangat mengagumkan. Dalam masa yang sama, dia cakap boleh cantikkan kawasan di sekolah. Its like “kill two birds with a stone”.

Pemasangan fertigasi pon Skylego team buat 2 jenis supaya lagi mudah untuk proses pembelajaran nanti.

Yang untungnya, cikgu ni dah tahu semua dah untuk pengurusan sistem ni. Just tinggal untuk dia bahagikan tugas penjagaan je nanti kepada pelajar-pelajarnya. Walaupun begitu, Skylego team tetap akan update dengan diorang dan diorang pun nak guna SOP penanaman dari Skylego.

Kelas reka bentuk ni merupakan salah satu usaha kerajaan bagi memperkenalkan teknologi pertanian di Malaysia pada peringkat sekolah lagi. Satu lagi usaha yang sangat mengagumkan bagi menarik minat golongan muda untuk menceburi pertanian bagi memastikan sekuriti makanan terjamin di samping dapat berdaya saing dengan negara luar pada masa hadapan.

Siapa lagi peminat salad?

First soalan yang ditanya, “boleh ke dia nak tanam salad saja?”

Memang untuk sistem hidroponik ni, salad sangat sesuai untuk ditanam. Dan dengan cuaca kita di Malaysia juga, banyak jenis salad yang sesuai.

Masalah beliau yang kedua ialah beliau tidak selalu ada dirumah sebab banyak outstation. Sistem kami ni memerlukan sekurang-kurangnya seminggu sekali untuk penjagaan. So, dia bagitahu seminggu sekali dia ada masa untuk tengok ni. Selesai masalah kedua.

Selepas penerangan, untuk tempat yang sesuai berdasarkan design yang beliau nak tu, beliau bagitahu yang rumah beliau ada kawasan macam tu. Okay, lengkap 3 kriteria penting.

Dah siap pemasangan semua, penerangan dan 40 hari penjagaan. Haa boleh tengok hasil dia. Amazingg kan? Sekarang beliau dah ada 40 pots salad untuk dihabiskan. Tapi jangan risau, boleh ambil mana yang nak makan je kemudian selebihnya tinggal kat situ.

First question asked, "can i just grow salad in whole system?"

Indeed, for this hydroponic system, salads are actually perfect plant for planting. And with our weather in Malaysia, many types of salads are suitable.

His second problem is that he's not always at home because of outstation. Our system needs at least once a week for care. So, he tells me once a week should be no problem for him. Solved the second problem.

After the explanation for the right place based on the design he wanted, he told Skylego that his house had such an area. Okay, complete 3 important criteria.

After completed installation, description and 40 days of care, now can see the results. Amazing! Now he has 40 pots of salad to be finish. But don't worry, you can take which one to eat and then the rest stay there.

Boleh Berjaya Ke Kebun Komuniti Yang Semua Peserta Busy?

Setelah exactly 35 hari sistem ni berfungsi, dengan minima penjagaan dari komuniti dan juga pengurusan, sekarang tiba masa untuk harvest. Ni lah hasil penat lelah (betul ke penat ni?) diorang. Sangat berbaloi.

Sepanjang musim penanaman banyak juga la soalan2 yang ditanya dan mereka banyak belajar. Sekarang untuk musim kedua, diorang dah boleh buat sendiri. Tapi sekiranya mereka ada soalan pihak Skylego masih sedia membantu. Jangan risau.

Memang betul, semua orang boleh buat ni. Just ready atau tak je nak balajar dan terus praktik. Jom sama-sama kita mudahkan penjagaan tanaman.

After 35 days the system is working, with minimal care from communities as well as management, now it's time to step up. This is the result of tiredness in them. Full of bloom!

Throughout the planting season a lot of questions were asked and due to that they learn a lot. Now for season two, they can do it themselves. But if, there is a question Skylego is still ready to help. Do not worry.

Aktiviti Penanaman di Tingkat 4, Kondominium

Diorang bagitahu kami masalah diorang sebelum ni ialah:

1) Kawasan untuk buat tempat tanaman mesti nampak kemas dan cantik.
2) Nak invest banyak tapi takut tanaman tak naik.
3) Tak cukup masa nak tengok setiap hari.

Pada meeting yang pertama, kami tunjuk gambar projek yang kami dah buat sebelum ni. Then, diorang terus setuju. Cukup kriteria untuk maslah pertama. Tapi, diorang masih lagi ragu-ragu sama ada penduduk komuniti situ boleh uruskan sistem ini ataupun tidak. Yelah, yang duduk di kawasan tu semua busy. Diorang mungkin hanya ada masa pada hari minggu sahaja.

Setelah kami buat penerangan macam mana penjagaan ikut SOP kami, berapa kerap nak kena check sama ada pokok/sistem ni elok ke tak, berapa lama sistem ni boleh bertahan kemudian mereka bersetuju sepenuhnya untuk buat ni.

Jom tengok post seterusnya, macam mana hasil tanaman diorang setelah diorang tengok sayur diorang seminggu sekali sahaja.

They told us the problems they had in planting:

1) The area of the crop planting must look neat and beautiful.
2) Fear of lost in high investment as the crops don't grow.
3) Not enough time to watch the vegetables every day.

At the first meeting, we showed them some projects we had done. Then, they kept agreeing. Solved for the first problem. However, they are still skeptical whether the community can manage the system or not as most of them only have free time during weekend.

After we did a description of how to take care the vegetables based on our SOP, how often you have to check the system to make sure it works properly and how long the system can last. Then due to this they fully agree as it can solve all their problems.

Kenapa first timer boleh terus berjaya untuk menanam?

Firstly, beliau nak manfaatkan tempat belakang rumah beliau ni dengan sedikit tanaman. Dan kat sini sebenarnya beliau jadikan tempat gathering minum petang bersama keluarga. So, tempat ni mesti kemas dan cantik. Ini antara request dia.

Selepas kami suggest design untuk tempat beliau dan terangkan macam mana penjagaan sistem ni, beliau terus tertarik. Sebelum ni memang dia nak letak hidroponik kat situ tapi dia was-was takut tak sempat nak jaga dan pokok tak naik. So, dia cakap bila kami akan guide, tu je yang buat dia terus confident nak start tanaman sayur ni.

Setelah harungi sedikit sebanyak selama sebulan penanaman ni, now tengokk hasil dia. Kami bangga dan happy tengok beliau berjaya. Tahniahhh. Sekarang, dia dah takde masalah nak buat tanaman seterusnya.

Firstly, he wants to make use of his backyard with a beneficial crop. And there he actually made an afternoon tea spot with his family. So, this place must looks neat and beautiful. This is exactly one of his requests.

After we suggest suitable design for his place and explained how to take care of the plant, he continued to be intrigued. He had previously wanted to start hydroponics there but he was afraid he wouldn't have enough time to take care of it and the trees didn't grow. So, he said when we were going to guide, that's what made him confident to start the hydroponic vegetable planting.

After going through a month of planting, now look at his produce. We're really proud and happy to see him succeed. Congratulations. Now, he's got no problem making the next cycle of vegetables.

Betul ke hidroponik boleh menjimatkan penggunaan air?

Mudah je disebabkan kita tak perlu nak siram pokok ni hari-hari. Semasa proses penyiraman, tak semua air diambil oleh pokok. Banyak yang menitis keluar dari pasu atau diserap masuk dalam tanah. Hanya berapa peratus sahaja diambil oleh pokok.

Dalam hidroponik, air akan bergerak secara kitaran. So, akar akan ambil jumlah air yang diperlukan sahaja dan yang selebihnya akan masuk dalam tangki balik. Tidak akan ada air yang mengalir keluar kecuali transpirasi. Air yang sama digunakan untuk bagi air pada pokok selama berhari-hari.

Dengan hidroponik, kita boleh menjimat sekitar 90% penggunaan air dalam berkebun. (Research dari Arizona Universiti untuk penggunaan air dalam salad)

That’s only due to we don't have to watering the plants everyday. During the watering process, not all water is taken by plants. Some of the water drip out or seeps further into the ground. Only a small percentage is taken by plants.

In hydroponics, water will move in circulation. So, the plant’s roots will only take up the amount of water required and the rest will go back in the tank. There won't be any water running out unless evaporation. This means that the same water was used in watering the plants for days.

With hydroponics, we can save about 90% of the water use in farming. (Research from Arizona University for water use in salads)

Nak menanam tapi nak mudah.

Antara soalan yang beliau tanya sebelum decide untuk cuba:
1. “Perlukan water supply tak?”
2. “Berapa kerap kena isi air?”
3. “Ada yang tak perlukan sumber elektrik?”
4. “Apa nak buat kalau sayur tak naik?”

Selepas pihak Skylego jawab semua ni,
1. “tak perlu water supply sebab kita akan isi air dalam tangki tu”,
2. “biasanya seminggu sekali kena isi air”,
3. “boleh ambil pam solar tetapi hanya sesuai dengan design yang ada shade” dan
4. “kalau sayur tak naik, WhatsApp kami dan kami akan bagi jalan penyelesaian.

Kemudian, beliau boleh bagitahu “macam senang je ni” dan terus arrange untuk pemasangan. So, selepas 35 hari, ini lah hasilnya. Tahniah sebab dah jumpa cara nak dapatkan sayur segar dengan mudah. Sekarang beliau dah boleh tanam sendiri dah untuk pusingan seterusnya.

Among the questions he asked before he tried:
1. "Does it need water supply?"
2. "How often should water be filled in the tank?"
3. "Does any system need no electricity?"
4. "What to do if the vegetables don't grow well?"

After Skylego answered all this questions,
1. "There is no need for water supply because we will fill the water in the tank",
2. "Usually once a week it has to be filled with water",
3. "You can take a solar pump but only fits the design with shade" and
4. "If the vegetables don't grow well, just WhatsApp our agronomist , then we'll come up with a solution.

Then, he could tell "it's kind of easy" and directly arrange for installation. After 35 days, this is his result. Congratulation’s sir, on finding a way to get fresh vegetables easily. Now he can plant this by himself for the next round.

Boleh ke first timer berjaya untuk tanam sayur sendiri?

Pada permulaan En Iskandar ni ada tiga tempat untuk dia letak sistem hidroponik. Selepas consider faktor cahaya matahari dan tempat yang sesuai, beliau setuju dengan tempat yang kami cadangkan. Yang penting, bagi dia pokok hidup subur dan tempat tanaman dia nampak kemas.

“Part nak pilih tanam sayur apa, kena tanya mem”. Rupanya beliau beli ni untuk isterinya. Then, semua penerangan penggunaan sistem, penjagaan pokok dan after sale serrvice dari Skylego, kami update dengan isteri beliau.

Isteri beliau first time nak cuba tanam sayur, sebab tu beli sistem ni supaya ada orang untuk bertanya kalau tanaman tak naik.

Selepas 35 hari, finally dapat hasil yang sangat menarik. Tahniah kami ucapkan kepada mereka. Sangat komited untuk belajar sepanjang satu bulan ni. Sekarang, isteri beliau dah boleh tanam semua ni sendiri je.

First time in hydroponic planting.

At the beginning, there were three places for him to put the hydroponic system. After considering the sunlight factor and the nice place, he agreed with the place we recommended. The most important for him are his vegetables grow well and the place of the plants looks neat.

"When it comes to choose what vegetable he want grow, have to ask mem". Apparently he bought this for his wife. So, Skylego team explain how to manage the hydroponic system, how to take care of the vegetables and after sale service directly with his wife.

This is first time for his wife to grow vegetables, that’s why he buy this so that his wife has someone to ask if the she get a problem with the crops.

After 35 days, they finally get a very interesting result. Congratulations to both of them. Very committed in learning throughout a month. Now, his wife can plant all this on her own.
