SPCA Kajang SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS (SPCA) KAJANG
Registration: PPM-025-10-29012016 Our mission is important and urgent.
(3)

We are a 100% volunteer managed society started by our one founding member who recognized the badly broken animal welfare and rights in Malaysia. We need to help the hundreds of thousands of innocent dogs who are victims of ignorance, cultural misinformation and archaic protection and rights. We want to stop bad ownership, instill responsibility and educate owners, pet-shops and breeders. We hope

to stop back-yard breeders, promote spay/neuter and work with enforcement to update laws and enforce them. We strive to work hand in hand and collaborate efforts with other rescues and societies to form a strong and unanimous front in animal welfare and rights. Our vision and mission stretches far and wide and we plan to achieve and work towards it with the highest dedication and determination. Our success to assist, protect and ultimately change the broken animal welfare system can only be achieved with support from 'YOU' the mass public, generous donations and standing united with us to sustain a greater good.

JUSTICE FOR THE VOICELESS

I'm writing this incident with a heavy heart.

Last night I received a video from a witness who recorded a man abusing his Husky dog. So that means the witness is the complaint whose particulars are safely kept with DVS.

I shared it immediately with the Department of Veterinary Malaysia officer who looked into the case. He immediately started collecting information before they could proceed to take further action.

In the meantime, I shared the video with other NGOs and animal rescuers for help.

From what I know the authorities usually are very helpful and they do justice for the dog. Yes, everything has got procedures they need to follow and they do take action.

Sadly, today by the time the authorities from DVS Selangor went over to the place of incident, they came to know an independent rescuer by the name of Shima Aris took the dogs away from the place of incident.

The dog is the main source of proof for the authorities to take action against the owner.

Since I do not know Shima and her contact number, I went through another rescuer and told Shima Aris to handover the dog to the authorities so that action can be taken against the abuser. All she answered was NO, THANK YOU.

So how can the authorities get justice for the abused dog?

Don't you think the owner will abuse another dog again cos he was saved by Shima Aris from the authorities.

At the end of the day because of the independent rescuer taking action into their own hands, we NGOs can't be the voice for the voiceless.

She has stood as a barrier towards our Malaysian Animal Welfare Act.

She has infact not only interrupted DVS duty towards the animal abuse case but has also insulted DVS by stating that they are useless.

Sincerely sad that we NGOs and Department of Veterinary Malaysia couldn't do anything as evidence (the abused dog) has had been taken away by Shima Aris

The stray dogs are vaccinated and dewormed annually so that they do not contract diseases as well as to keep them healthy.

Our furry friends need your immediate help to make good the shelter's roofing. This is due to last Friday's strong wind that had cracked the Ardex roofing of 7 years at 3 parts of the shelter.

Temporarily we have stick waterproof plaster and placed temporary zinc sheets on top of the roofs that is of not much help during rain as there are leaks.

Plus the wind especially at our shelter is very strong cos we are surrounded by trees.

Your kind contribution is greatly appreciated.

An animal-centric initiative under the UPLIFT NGO, Pawsrescue.my, in collaboration with SPCA Kajang, aims to champion and raise awareness on the plight of the voiceless strays of Malaysia.
Our first ever panel discussion aims to spread awareness on the growing epidemic of neglected strays across the country.

Join us as we discuss the current status and protections for Malaysian strays (canine and feline alike) and how shelter volunteers (a.k.a behind-the-scene heroes) play a major role in helping to look after these furry pals with our panelists!

𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄: SPCA Kajang is turning off the comments on the Jalan Seri Budiman 3/1 Cheras issue. WE WILL NOT ᴄᴏɴᴅᴏɴᴇ ᴀɴʏ ғᴜʀᴛʜᴇʀ ʜᴀʀᴀssᴍᴇɴᴛ, ɪɴsᴜʟᴛs, ᴏʀ them ᴛᴜʀɴɪɴɢ this ᴘʟᴀᴛғᴏʀᴍ for sᴏᴄɪᴀʟ ʙᴜʟʟʏɪɴɢ ᴀɴᴅ ᴄʏʙᴇʀ ʟʏɴᴄʜɪɴɢ.

Our team member will initiate a private, polite, and civil conversation with Seri Budiman's representative in due course if necessary.

SPCA Kajang stands by its mandate that is to help animals, primarily innocent dogs and cats in distress, strays suffering from hunger and society’s ignorance.

Unfortunately, there is a wider population of dog/cat haters and in our process of trying to help these animals inevitably, feathers are ruffled. We try our best to focus on the animals because these are sentient beings - voiceless animals with a beating heart, red blood running in their veins who feel hunger, pain, and suffering like humans.

Dogs and cats did not choose to be born, to become strays, or even live a life of abuse, being hunted to be hurt or be killed.
Human irresponsibility, ignorance, and arrogance are the root of the stray population in refusing to spay/neuter as well as abandonment which results in it becoming a community problem.

If you are a community, you should educate yourself, all your neighbors, family, and friends to spay-neuter their cats and dogs. In addition, more and more animal habitats are being taken away for development, and animals are being left homeless and struggling. We just must learn to cohabit.

We hear a lot of people asking why not take the strays away? TO WHERE?

The truth is Malaysia does not have a housing shelter or any such place for SPCA or other rescues to take strays in. Malaysia’s animal stray management is the worst of its kind, archaic and non-progressive.

ALL the animal NGOs are self-funded with little to no support from the public or the government. All the team members of animal NGOs in Malaysia, including SPCA Kajang, were once corporate executives who have given up their professional careers to focus on helping the broken animal system in Malaysia. They made huge sacrifices to take care of society's problems the best they can with little support and help from the public.

They did not have to but these are the people who are doing more than others who sit back doing nothing but complain about everything.

The public does not realize the struggle SPCA Kajang endures daily to try and find a solution to help the dogs and cats. We do not have the best solution; we are humans as well trying to do the best in the worst situation.

Sure, dogs can become wild, but why? Most times it is because humans are hurting them, throwing rocks. It is an extremely hard world we are living in, and we just must learn how to share this planet, be a little kind, and have a whole lot of compassion.
Right now, in Malaysia, the struggling humans are signaling for help with a ‘White flag’.

The animals are suffering too, WHAT COLOR FLAG do they FLY for help?

Please be kind to the suffering. It does not take away anything from you. You will be blessed for being kind and compassionate
