As 2025 approaches, I want to thank you for trusting me and my team to care for your beloved pets. Each patient and case this year has taught us something new, and we’ve loved every moment of learning and growing alongside you.

Looking back on 2024, there have been so many wonderful successes—helping pets heal, thrive, and bring joy to their families. But it’s also been a year of goodbyes. To the pets we’ve lost, you will always be remembered.

A huge thank you goes out to my family, friends, and the incredible team at Atlantic Vet. Your support makes everything we do possible, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

As we step into 2025, there are exciting changes ahead! We’ll soon be announcing a new schedule that allows us to provide even more personalized care. I’m looking forward to another year of working with you, learning from your pets, and sharing in the joys (and sometimes challenges) of their care.

I recently visited the beautiful gardens of in The Hague 🇳🇱 and stumbled upon these tombstones, lovingly created for the dogs of Baroness Marguérite Van Brienen. What a special find! Dogs are just a (wo)mans best friend throughout the centuries!

⭐️ Meet SURVIVOR ⭐️ He is one of my patients since almost two years. We got to know each other so we’ll! The moment I walk in I get greated with a loud and deep bark, he lies down during his acupuncture treatment , licks my hand and is just the sweetest senior dog. The moment I get up after his treatment I get barked at again. As if he wants to say “Where are you going? I wasn’t done yet!”
Survivor suffers from arthritis and back pain and we have navigated our way through anxiety, an oral tumor, chronic diarrhoea episodes as well as ear infections throughout the years. His owners are just so committed to making his life as comfortable as possible, he gets his own baby sitter, non slip flooring throughout the whole house and home prepared food. Did I mention that I love working with senior dogs? 🐕 🐾 ♥️

Last night I met with my good friend Barbara Paterson and her fabulous colleague Julia Hawkins for a Q&A session about reactivity and why medical check ups are so important for these dogs, how we can make it easier for the patient, owner and vet to get answers 🐕‍🦺 and how we can support them with nutrition 🫐🥦🥩and supplementation. It was such a great interactive evening with all the wonderful students of these two! Let's do this more often!

Farewell , Korgi! This special old boy passed the 🌈 bridge yesterday. He will keep a special place in my heart and I will always remember how he happily walked into my practice, lying down for acupuncture and just enjoying his one on one time! We helped him through several episodes of severe pain and managed his interrupted sleep with herbs and acupuncture treatments. He was very loved by his family and will leave a big gap 💔

5 top signs of pain in pets:

❗️Changes in Activity Level: Pets experiencing chronic pain may show a decrease in activity. They might be less willing to go for walks, play, or engage in their usual physical activities.

❗️Altered Behavior: Chronic pain can lead to changes in behavior. Pets may become irritable, withdrawn, or exhibit signs of aggression. They might also seek more solitude, avoiding interactions with other pets or family members.

❗️Decreased Appetite: Pain can affect a pet's appetite. They may eat less or show disinterest in food, leading to weight loss or malnutrition over time.

❗️Changes in Posture or Movement: Pets in chronic pain may exhibit changes in posture or movement. They might limp, favor certain limbs, or have difficulty getting up, lying down, or climbing stairs.

❗️Increased Vocalization: Some pets may vocalize more when they're in pain. This could include whining, whimpering, or even yelping, especially when they move or if pressure is applied to the affected area.
