🎁 Christmas in July 🌲

A huge thank you to Dano at Micca Agri who arrived at our Groot Aub clinic at 9am this morning with gifts and donations galore!

🐶🐱🐎 Hearing that we assist communities and their animals with life saving veterinarary services for free, he wanted to meet NAWA's vet team himself for the handover.

Every single act of kindness and generosity is appreciated (big or small), we make use of it ALL.

NAWA hopes to see you again soon dear, kind Dano and many thanks to your generous team🙏

Are you ready for THIS post? 😁

NAWA's vet team together with NAWA's Project Donkey team travelled to Gobabis and Witvlei on an outreach trip for 2 days, 19th to 21st July 2024.
🐶🐱Gobabis Animal Rescue and FOUR PAWS Namibia were assisted with sterilisations of 25 cats and dogs and Witvlei community received 10 sterilisations.

🐎🐴Project Donkey had a weekend of note at the same time with 61 equids receiving vaccines and antiparasitic to get them through winter plus sets of NAWA's humane bridles and harnesses for all. 9 equids received corrective farrier TLC too!

📍 155 dogs and 10 cats received tick, flea and worm treatment to last for the next 4 months and many received wound care treatment for fly bitten ears.

📚 One of NAWA's core pillars is Education which meant that handouts and booklets, along with the children's valuable Pako Kids Magazine were distributed generously. 'Hands on' advice and wound treatment was given and received well by the 3 communities our teams visited.

The exhausted team of exceptional animal lovers arrived back in Windhoek late this evening happy to have been of assistance to Namibia's people and their animals.

Another wonderful days work!

NAWA's vet team led by Dr Courtney Geyser towed our surgical trailer to Beverly Hills (Oshakati not Hollywood 😄)

Quietly addressing the issue of unwanted litters in the communities we work in, by spaying and neutering where ever we go.

🐎Today the team treated an eye infection in a horse and helped with a dog's broken foot and a PARVO puppy.

💉Always vaccinating against zoonotic deceases
📚educating about a more humane way to live with animals...
but enough said, pictures of today will explain better!

Thank you FNB Namibia
Thank you SS
Thank you Brookes USA
Thankyou Lafrenz trust
Thank you AGRA (Agriculture Namibia)
Thank you SPCA Windhoek
Thank you Pako Kids Magazine

We get ...and then we give!

NAWA's team handing out some of the 22 wonderful dog houses that were donated to us for our Steri clients.
😨Perfect timing for the cold winter nights.
Community members who make the wise health choice for their companion animals by spaying females or neutering males are treated to...

👉A small bag of pet food
👉A locally made NAWA dog collar (thank you Loini)
👉Pre loved clothing, bedding and a pair of shoes donated by the wonderful IWAN members and other 'city folk'.
👉A Pako Kids Magazine
👉And now in winter, a dog house!

NAWA encourages all community members to care for their animals in a humane and responsible way and that starts with addressing the overpopulation of unwanted animals on the streets.

🤩Thank you to our main sponsors FNB Namibia, AGRA (Agriculture Namibia) SS, SPCA Windhoek, LaFrenz trust and to every person who donates what they can.

You are the reason NAWA make this work!

🏳️Most we win, some we lose.

👉🏼Meisiekind was used as a hunting dog and was punctured by a warthog a month ago.
🕐After NAWA's vet sent her to Windhoek for a 2nd opinion and dealt with the extreme apathy of her owners, we then sent the broken, defeated body of a once beautiful girl to UNAM this week.
💔Meisiekind was sent to rest with as much love as our vet team could give her in her final moments yesterday.
🕯️She joins Mami and a handful of animals who WILL be remembered always.
R.I.P. Meisiekind and please forgive us humans.🙏🏻

🤩 A superb donation from an 'angel' at GENMED Pty Prosperita!
Thank you Rudiger Louw for thinking of NAWAs vet team and their needs.
🐶🐱 Through your generosity we can stretch NAWA's Sterilise to Minimise project even further.
The spaying and neutering surgery for companion animals is costly and high risk. Absolutely any and all support is really, really appreciated by NGOs and animal welfare groups.
📌Since October 1st 2023 NAWA's vet Dr Courtney Geyser and her team have sterilised 302 pets conducted 23 lifesaving emergency surgeries and vaccinated 991 animals in communities in and around Windhoek.
😇 Thank you again to Rudiger and his wonderfully professional and kind team at Genmed. You are a true partner in our project which aims to provide a better life for rural community animals.

What a great way to spend a Sunday!

NAWA's Project Donkey team had extra helping hands today. Thank you to a new volunteer, Willem and our new committee member, Vivienne who joined us on another Dordabis outreach.

A special thank you to Dr Samantha Zealand from the SPCA whose collaboration with NAWA just makes our working animal project stronger!
It was donkeys, donkeys and more donkeys today!
Education booklets, harnesses and humane tack handouts plus general basic health care and advice.

Thank you to our Project Donkey sponsors; the AAEP and Brookes US. Without you, not possible!

What a wonderful Surprise!!

NAWA's Project Donkey Team was out buying materials for a new order of harnesses yesterday when Ryno Coetzer of Ropetech CC in Windhoek, Namibia chose us for his Random Act of Kindness.

Thank you so much to the entire Ropetech team for your wonderful service to NAWA over the last 2 and a half years but now also for the very generous donation!

Without the support and kindness of each individual follower, we could not 'do what we do'.

At every turn we thank our sponsors, and often it seems like it is only the big names that keeps the wheel turning, but the reality is, that we cannot make a success of what we so passionately do, without every single donation we receive.
Today, we humbly ask that our absolutely amazing followers help us make a difference by nominating NAWA under the Animal Welfare option.
Thank you!

🤩 NAWAs vet team would like to give a shout out!

To our fantastic community supporters and our generous sponsors. A special thank you to FNB Namibia who saw the potential in us and has been our loyal donor for 3 years now.
Together with donations from our 'anonymous sponsor' who funded the building of NAWAs surgical trailer, our vet team was able to start our sterilising drive 6 months ago.

Since the 1st October 2023, NAWA's awesome vet team led by Dr Courtney Geyser...
👉🏻 has sterilised 289 companion animals (x 6 in a litter = approximately 1800 'un-borns')
👉🏻 has conducted 23 emergency surgeries
👉🏻 has assisted 212 carers
👉🏻 with PHC for their 983 animals (a couple of chickens, goats and others included)

Imagine the impact that FNB's generous donations together with our passionate vet team will have on the future welfare of community animals and their carers!

On the 20th April, NAWA’s Project Donkey team visited the Resettlement Farm Welgemoed after reports reached us just a few days earlier, that the community was in dire need of some assistance.
The team jumped into action and administered primary health care, vaccinations and replaced ill-fitting tack. One of the pillars of our project and the only way our project can ever be sustainable is education, which was provided and welcomed with open arms by the handlers.
15 equines were treated - and with just a little bit of faith may live a more humane life with the new acquired knowledge in future. 🤞we thank our sponsors Brookes USA.

NAWA's Project Donkey will kick into action on Saturday!

The team received disturbing pictures from a concerned follower on Monday.
🐴They show of complete negligence and suboptimal equipment knowledge and use.
🐎After contacting whoever would pick up on farms along the C26, we secured a communal area for horses, donkeys, mules and carers with carts to meet.

📌We will have a vet for vaccinations and minor wound care; education booklets on APA regulations and basic care of working animals plus humane tack and donated numnahs, girths and grooming items to swop for confiscated tack.

👏👏Humungous Thank yous to:
- NAWA's new sponsor Brooke USA
- our generous sponsor AAEP (American Association of Equine Practice)
- local sponsors AGRA (Agriculture Namibia) and Pupkewitz.

Every donation of tack, new and old, is appreciated too. Thank you to all private donors🙏

Dear NAWA followers.

The Donkey team is on its way to the Rehobother plots this Saturday to assist owners with their horses, donkeys and mules. We will do free vaccinations and healthcare as well as replacement of harnesses and tack. Our plan is to go to the areas around Farm Welgemoed. We desperately need a local person on the ground to round up owners. Please contact us urgently if you can assist and leave your number.

🔊 Another NAWA milestone!
Meet Aaron, our unbelievably gentle and kind Groot Aub animal champion.

📌 Today marks the start of his dog dipping program.

NAWA's vet, Dr Courtney, tested him on active ingredients, mix quantities and precautions and Aaron passed with flying colours👏👏👏

9 dogs were dipped today as a start, but we couldn't be prouder of his passion to curb tick bite fever in his area.

⭐ Well done Aaron!

📚A NAWA fairy tale.
Once upon a time there was an abandoned young labrador named Golden.
She was handed over in February to our Aaron who is NAWA's animal champion and hero!
NAWA's vet, the beautiful and talented Dr Courtney, vaccinated, spayed and treated Golden with TLC and love.
Soon after, a gallant Swakopmund family of 3 young boys and their wonderful Mom and Dad called and asked if they could adopt Golden to love forever.
How could we say no!
NAWA volunteers drove Golden in relays from Groot Aub to Swakopmund on Tuesday, and by Wednesday we were receiving stories and pictures of Goldy, sleeping on beds and enjoying her new found love.
And so princess Golden and her 'forever humans' all lived happily ever after!
THE END

A massive thank you to Azille and her familly of boys for opening their hearts and home.

We KNOW Goldy will be happy with her new family...on the beach and on their beds...

❗ RISHI SUNAK MUST ACT NOW

The upcoming Animal Welfare (Livestock Exports) Bill MUST protect all animals and prevent the live exports of millions of day-old birds and thousands of large animals who will be exploited for their breeding abilities abroad.

A live animal export ban is NOT a ban unless it is inclusive to all!

The NAWA team is warning sensitive viewers, followers, animal lovers and members (cattle farmers) to only watch this video if you are ready for the reality.
What NAWA and collaborators succeeded in doing in 2021 was to prevent Namibia from getting involved in this by signing a petition which was well received by our Ministry.
We applaud our decision makers for listening.

What we all need to do is stay on top of this!!
Please support the NSPCA and SPCAs in their fight to END this.
