MISTAKES POULTRY FARMERS MAKE ON ARRIVAL OF DAY OLD CHICKS!👇😊🐣🐥

Brooding refers to the period immediately after hatch when special care and attention must be given to chicks to ensure their health and survival.

It’s up to you to assess the situation and make the right management decisions to give your chicks the best start possible.

OKAY, LET'S LOOK AT THE MISTAKES THAT FARMERS MAKE! PLEASE READ this till the END and READ CAREFULLY! 👇😊🐣🐥

1. Not heating up the brooder in advance:
Chicks need a warm place to live, so make sure to heat up the brooder a few hours before they arrive. This will give the room time to warm up to the right temperature.

2. Feeding the chicks too soon:
Chicks need to drink water before they eat food. This will help their digestive system get started. Give them water with glucose and vitamins for at least 2 hours before giving them food.

3. Using big feeders:
Chicks can't reach food in big feeders. Use trays for the first week, then switch to baby feeders as they grow.

4. Using tarpaulin instead of brooder paper:
Tarpaulin is a breeding ground for coccidiosis, a deadly disease for chicks. Use brooder paper instead.

5. Using feed with big particles:
Chicks have tiny stomachs. Make sure to use starter feed with tiny particles that are easy for them to digest.

6. Not covering husks with brooder paper:
Chicks can't tell the difference between food and husks. If the husks aren't covered, chicks will eat them and get sick.

7. Too much heat in the brooder:
Chicks can get dehydrated and constipated if the brooder is too hot. Make sure the temperature is just right.

8. Not enough space:
Chicks need enough space to move around and grow. Make sure the brooder isn't too crowded.

BONUS TIP: Use Local Herbs for them if You know how to use them.

This will help them stay healthy and strong during the brooder stage!

By following these tips, you can help your day-old chicks get a good start in their growth.

PASTY VENT IN CHICKS

It is a condition where faeces or droppings stick to the vent or bottom area of young growing chicks, forming a pasty or sticky mass.

Some possible causes and ways to address pasty vent in chicks:

✔️ Poor hygiene: Dirty beddings or an unclean environment can contribute to pasty vent. Ensure that the brooding pen or coop is clean, dry, and well-ventilated.

✔️ Incorrect diet or feeding: Inadequate nutrition or feeding practices can lead to digestive issues, causing loose stools that stick to the vents. To prevent this, ensure you correctly formulate or buy a well formulated feeds so that chicks can access to a balanced diet that's appropriate for their age and breed.

✔️ Stress: Chicks may experience stress due to overcrowding, extreme temperatures, transportation from the hatchery or sudden changes in their environment. Stress can affect their digestion and increase the likelihood of pasty vent. Provide a comfortable and stress-free environment for the chicks.

✔️ Coccidiosis:This is a protozoan parasites infection in young chicks that can lead to diarrhea (in severe case it can be a bloody diarrhea) which will eventually leads to pasty vent. Coccidiosis drugs like (kepcox, totrazuril, amprollium, Embaci-forte can be used or consult a trained poultry farmer or vet doctor.

✔️ Dehydration: Insufficient access to clean drinking water can lead to dehydration, resulting in concentrated stools that stick to the vent. Ensure that chicks have constant access to fresh, clean water and use drinker suitable for their age.

To address pasty vent in chicks:

➡️ Monitor and clean: Regularly check the vent area of chicks and gently clean off any visible accumulation of f***s. Be cautious not to damage the delicate tissue around the vent.

➡️ Warm water baths: If the pasty vent persists, you can give the affected chicks a gentle warm water bath to soften the f***s and aid in its removal. Ensure the water is not too hot and gently pat dry the chicks afterward.

➡️. Dietary adjustments: Ensure that chicks are receiving a balanced diet appropriate for their age and species. If necessary, consider adjusting their diet or feeding practices with guidance from animal nutritionist
