Ⓒ︎Ⓑ︎Ⓟ︎Ⓟ︎ is an infectious and highly contagious disease of cattle and other ruminants considered to be amongst the most important infectious diseases. Affected animals have difficulty in breathing due to damage to the lungs, lose condition and a proportion die.

☝️𝗖𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁:
It is caused by bacteria Mycoplasma mycoides mycoides, small-colony type (SC)

✌️𝗘𝗣𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗠𝗜𝗢𝗟𝗢𝗚𝗬:
Infection spreads by aerosol from cough, by direct contact with infected animals, or through placenta to the unborn calf. Fomites are not a major source of transmission

🤟 CLINICAL SINGS
The incubation period is one to three months. A few cattle may die of peracute disease with no symptoms other than fever.
☟︎︎︎Acute symptoms include
▪️fever,
▪️Nasal discahrge
▪️ lethargy, cough,
▪️ extended necks and laboured breathing,
▪️ and loss of appetite and milk production.
▪️Calves may develop arthritis and lameness.
▪️After initial acute faze, the infection often becomes chronic.

✌️CONTROL☟︎︎
Out breaks are eradicated with quarantines, slaughter of infected and in-contact animals, and cleaning and disinfection. Vaccines are available and have helped to control the disease in endemic areas.

TRYPANOSOMIASIS:

An important disease of cattle and buffalo caused by protozoa. It is transmitted mechanically by biting flies. Death may occur in 2 weeks to 2 months.

What disease does Trypanosoma cause in Cattles?
The disease is caused principally by three species of trypanosome (Trypanosoma congolense, T. vivax and T. brucei) which are transmitted by several species of tsetse flies (Glossina). Trypanosomiasis in cattle results in poor productivity and mortality

💢Symptoms of trypanosomiasis :-

_ infect the blood of the vertebrate host, causing

🔷 fever
🔷 weakness
🔷 lethargy
🔷 weight loss
🔷 anemia
🔷 severe headaches
🔷 irritability
🔷 extreme fatigue
🔷 swollen lymph nodes
🔷 aching muscles sickness
🔷 some People develop a skin rash
🔷 Progressive confusion

What 3 types of diseases does Trypanosoma
cause?

brucei, which causes sleeping sickness in humans and nagana in cattle. T. cruzi, which causes Chagas disease in humans. Trypanosoma culicavium, which infects birds and mosquitoes.

How do you prevent trypanosomiasis in cattle?

Trypanosomiasis can be controlled by treating livestock with trypanocides or insecticide – killing parasites or vectors, respectively. Mathematical modeling of trypanosomiasis was used to compare the impact of drug- and insecticide-based interventions on R 0 with varying densities of cattle

How is trypanosomiasis treatment?
The acute phase of trypanosomiasis (Chagas disease) is treated with nifurtimox or benznidazole. Cases of congenital Chagas disease have been successfully treated with either drug. A single case of successful treatment of an adult with posaconazole (after failure of therapy with ).

Our bus didn’t have a conductor so the driver asked us to pay line by line. Transport fare 300.

I had 300 naira with me and as I was about to pay, the woman behind me gave me 1000 for 3. Her change 100 naira.

I wanted to give her the 100 naira that was with me but she collected the 300 and said she has collected her 200 change.

What’s going on?

She then gave me another 1000 and said for 2 but at that point, I was already really confused. Madam, why you take the 300 instead of 100?

She began explaining to me but it wasn’t sinking in at all. At one point, I wanted to tell her to give me my money back so we can start afresh. She then said the other 1000 she gave me was for 2 so the 400 naira change is why she took 200 so the driver should bring 200 naira change.

I never think finish, another woman gave me 1000 and collected 500 from the money wey still dey confuse me.
