"Laying paralysis" refers to a condition in poultry where hens or birds experience a loss of function in their legs, rendering them unable to stand or move properly. This condition can occur due to various factors, including nutritional deficiencies (such as calcium or vitamin D), infections, metabolic issues, or injuries.

It's essential in poultry farming to ensure a balanced diet, proper living conditions, and hygiene to prevent such health issues. Consulting a veterinarian or a poultry health expert would be crucial for diagnosis and treatment, as they can provide specific guidance on addressing laying paralysis and maintaining the health of the birds in a poultry farm.

Laying paralysis in chickens is a condition where hens, specifically, can experience a loss of function in their legs due to several factors. It's more common in laying hens than other poultry. The condition can be caused by various issues, including:

1. *Calcium Deficiency:* A lack of calcium in the diet, essential for eggshell formation, can lead to laying paralysis.

2. *Vitamin D Deficiency:* Vitamin D is crucial for calcium absorption. A deficiency can lead to weakened bones and, subsequently, laying paralysis.

3. *Obesity:* Overweight hens may have difficulty supporting their weight, leading to leg issues and paralysis.

4. *Physical Trauma or Injury:* Any injury to the legs can result in paralysis.

Treatment involves addressing the underlying cause. Providing a balanced diet with adequate calcium and vitamin D, managing weight, ensuring proper living conditions, and seeking veterinary care are essential steps to prevent and manage laying paralysis in chickens.

Happy New Year! Message from our Chairman & CEO

As 2023 draws to a close, it is time to reflect on 2024 and welcome 2024.

This year has been yet again a very successful year for Samsol Agro Allied Services Ventures with more customers being trained, the release of new Oral Solutions health products, expansion of our partner network and the acceptance of new distributors of our products.

The world around us is changing rapidly including economies, industries and societies and most especially the war between Russia and Ukraine. This will also have an impact on the Agro Allied industry around the world. Supply chain, Agriculture value chain to finish products and others will not only have a profound impact on how is being used in our daily services but also demand more and more from our government policies and professionals who are behind the delivery of these services on a 24x7 basis.

Training will therefore remain very relevant as the needs for knowledge and competencies continues to increase. Training delivery related models will need to grow and expand with the ever increasing demand in training volume, complexity and flexibility requirements. Samsol Agro Allied Services Ventures has a number of very exciting plans lined up for 2024. Do keep an eye on us as we will be making the various announcements throughout the year.

Ever since its inception, Samsol Agro has been the leader in the livestock industry in terms of total number of students trained, quality of its programs, value of its accreditation and certification and broad portfolio of courses. As always, we remain committed in our quest to help form the future of the animal production industry. We have every intent to stay the rank of global training company in the world. It may sound like a very big challenge indeed. But, with imagination, vision and determination, it can and will happen.

Samsol Agro Allied Services Ventures is a Nigerian company based in Lagos. It is subsidiary of Simrod Inter Trade Company founded in 2004 primarily for sales, marketing and distribution of agroallied products, and the distribution of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) in the livestock industry. In addition to these, the company is involved in the production and packaging of livestock feeds, additives & veterinary drugs. Incorporated in 2004 to deal in livestock sector of the Nigeria Agro business, Samsol Agro has over the years diversified its portfolio of business interests and activities. The office in Lagos looks after the company’s sales and marketing efforts locally and internationally, in addition to overseeing the importation, exportation, clearing and transportation of products across Nigeria. Samsol Agro is a major player in the Agro Allied sector of Nigeria livestock farming. The belief of the company is that livestock production inputs, which is one of our major areas of business, has a long history in Nigeria and the company foresees an even brighter and longer future. In order to have any significant impact in the trading of agricultural commodities, substantial warehousing a prerequisite due to the bulky nature of the products. Samsol Agro has invested heavily in storage facilities and therefore has an abundance of warehouse space at its disposal. Because of this Samsol Agro Feeds is able to meet its customers’ demands especially in the areas of price stability, range of products, adequate stock levels, and superior quality. This has been a key strength of the company over the years and is continuously being improved. Over the years, Samsol Agro has also invested on high tech machinery that enables it to process goods for customers, giving them the best qualities required. For instance, the feed milling plant has the capacity to produce up to 60 tons of feeds per day. Other equipment found in the company’s factory include Mixers, Hammer mill, Conveyors Scales and Bagging and others. Samsol Agro ran one of the foremost mechanize feed milling facility in Igando Alimosho with a reputation for honesty, integrity, and efficiency. Our machines are of highest standards with a zero percent rejection rate by inspection agencies.
The company has a fleet of vehicles that help the marketing team in meeting the needs of numerous customers within Nigeria.
