The African civet (Civettictis civetta) is a large type of civet that lives throughout sub-Saharan Africa. It is the last surviving member of its genetic group and is regarded as the largest civet-like species in the African continent. African civets are not felines, despite looking like and behaving like cats, but are more closely related to weasels, mongooses, and other small carnivores. These animals are most well known for their musk that they secrete to mark their territory (called civetone), as used in manufacturing perfume for centuries, and for their striking black and white coloring, making them one of the easiest species of civet to identify.

These adorable civets found themselves lost and alone, and ready to be sold to any willing buyer with little concern about their well-being but @lufasipark came to their rescue, bringing them to us with hearts heavy with concern. They were torn from their mother’s side, and the ache of their separation resonates deeply within us.
It’s a gut-wrenching feeling, knowing these sweet babies are without the comfort of their mama. But we refuse to let despair take hold. Instead, we’re pouring every ounce of love and care we have into them, determined to see them thrive.
Every day is a new challenge, but we’re in it for the long haul. We’ll be their surrogate family, teaching them the ways of the wild and showing them what it means to be strong and independent.
