Rescue Dogs and Cats the Netherlands Rehoming Lithuanian shelter pets into homes in the Netherlands - to find kindness, love and safety.

Rescue Dogs and Cats The Netherlands is run entirely through volunteer work. Based in the Netherlands, we work in collaboration with several animal shelters in Lithuania, helping to adopt and rehome rescue dogs and cats to the Netherlands and allowing them to experience the love, kindness and safety that they deserve.

Rescue Dogs and Cats The Netherlands was founded in 2020 by Julija and Ramun

e, two animal lovers who always had a desire to help homeless animals. The initiative quickly grew to a group of more than 20 people working voluntarily in re-homing rescues from Lithuania to The Netherlands, Belgium and some other countries. In Lithuania the number of abandoned dogs and cats is very large. There are plenty of shelters that are doing a great job to help them to survive and doing their best to find them home. We truly feel heartbroken knowing that there are so many animals suffering from different sorts of abuse and neglect. Therefore, this project is our way to contribute to the wellbeing of rescue dogs and cats. The goal of this website is to tell you more about dogs and cats in need and to facilitate their adoption and rehoming to The Netherlands. If you are looking to adopt, you will have to fill out the application form, your answers are an important part of helping us to be sure that the pet is a good match for you, your family and your lifestyle. We will provide you with all the information about the pet, his or her life story, character, behavior and other things you need to know. Lucky is a young (just 2 years old), energetic, and playful pup looking for his forever home! He is average sized ~12 kg, 38 cm. He’s full of life, always ready for fun, and loves both people (kids & adults) and other dogs. Though he still needs some training—he’s a bit jumpy, playful nibbles, and needs to learn proper potty habits—he’s eager to learn with the right guidance.

Do you like cats with exceptional eyes? 🤩😻 If you do, then Pika might be the right cat for you! 😉🐈‍⬛

Pika is between 6 and 8 years old, but her exact age is unknown. She’s a very affectionate and rather a shy-type cat, but also very calm and has exceptionally wide eyes, which sometimes make her look scared 😅👀

Pika was taken to the shelter together with her grown kittens who already found their forever homes, but Pika was quite in a bad shape and thus had to undergo some necessary health treatments before she could be adopted 😕🩺 Once she was rescued, she had some problems with her mammary glands, her fur was very thin and shabby, and she just looked abandoned and awful 😭😞 However, thanks to amazing volunteers, Pika is now a fully healthy cat, although she still has some patches of missing fur on her belly which should fully grow back with time 💛 She is also already sterilized, vaccinated, microchipped, and virus-negative ✅

Pika is rather small and short-legged furry lady, but possesses a unique appearance and adorable character 🥰🐱

Big thanks to everyone who has supported Bart (a.k.a. Scooby) so far! Thanks to you, he has been thriving in the countryside, soaking up the fresh air and enjoying life. He’s also been making great progress on his town visits, learning to navigate more complex environments with growing confidence. But Bart had an oopsie...

He was chasing wildlife and came back with a splinter lodged in his eye! 🫣 🪡 After a long and delicate surgery, he was able to keep the eye, but it was uncertain for a bit. He has shown incredible resilience, and each day, his eye looks better and better.

While Bart’s recovery is going well, finding him the perfect forever home is still a work in progress. He’s a one-of-a-kind pup with a few quirks but is working hard on his journey.

Hello all, we need help finding the owner of the kitty, found at Schuitenberg in Roermond.‼️

One of our fosters found a kitty outside and he is not microchipped!

A male tabby cat with a greyish anti-parasitise collar was found at Schuitenberg in Roermond.

He was running around the street to people, seemingly lost and not able to stay safe from the cars.

Bubu is a 7-year-old rescue cat who has had a tough start to life. In Lithuania, 7 years is often considered old for a cat, which sadly means he has fewer chances of being adopted. But 7 years is far from old for a cat – Bubu still has many good years ahead of him and plenty of love to give.

When Bubu came to the shelter, he was in poor condition, but he has made an amazing recovery and is currently in good health. However, he doesn’t have many teeth left, so he thrives on soft food and gentle care. He’s a gentle, calm cat who enjoys cozy naps and the company of other cats. His folded ears and kind eyes make him stand out, and his quiet, friendly nature makes him a great companion.

Monkis is currently being fostered in Amsterdam, but his foster family is moving to another country in a few months and until then Monkis needs to find his forever home. 🏡✨

This sweet boy is the cuddliest cat you’ll ever meet—friendly, social, and absolutely loves people! 💕 Monkis is FIV positive, which means he occasionally has a runny nose and some sneezing. Thankfully, his condition has improved a lot since arriving in his foster home, but he may need antibiotics now and then if symptoms worsen. 🩺🐾

Meet Georgie, Trapper’s best buddy! 🐾💛 These two charming kitties are traveling together to their foster home in the Netherlands this month, where you’ll have the chance to meet them before deciding to adopt! 🏡🐈

Georgie is 1.5 years old. Like many stray cats, he was found roaming a Lithuanian village as a teenage kitten, battling a respiratory infection. He was rescued along with two adult cats and two more kittens. Sadly, the adults didn’t survive. One of his sisters was adopted, while another, named Use, is still waiting for her forever home. Now, Georgie is healthy, full of life, and ready for his big journey! 🌟

Georgie and Trapper became fast friends in one of the shelter’s cat rooms. These two young males bonded over their shared playful energy and, who knows, maybe even similar “cat philosophies”! 😄🐾 Now, they’re ready to bring double the joy to their future family! ❤️
