🌱 At first, I treated gardening like a skill to master.
Now, it feels more like a language I’ve slowly begun to understand.

When I first started with indoor plants, I had no idea how much they would teach me about curiosity, patience, and paying attention. These days, gardening has become a kind of quiet conversation—with the bees, the soil, and even the wind.

I just published a piece about this reflection.
If you’ve ever felt disconnected from nature—or wondered if you have a “green thumb”—this one’s for you.

Daily harvest of strawberries makes me so happy 🥰 You may choose to share them with others in your garden, such as birds and slugs 🐌🕊️otherwise, it’s ok to pick them a bit before it’s fully ripen so the others don’t get to them before you do 😆🍓

🪴 Tiny glass worlds, big calming vibes. 🪴

We spent a lovely afternoon with the flatexDEGIRO crew making terrariums as part of their Wellness Week — and it was honestly the kind of pause we all need sometimes. 🌿✨

All it takes is soil, moss, and a little planty magic to create a mindful moment. These mini ecosystems became more than cute decor—they were little pockets of calm, creativity, and connection.

Shoutout to the flatexDEGIRO team for making space for something so grounding in the middle of a busy workday. 💚 So grateful to be part of this!

A little reminder: hands-on = heart-full. Whether it’s for wellness, team-building, or just slowing down, creating something together always brings the good energy. 🫶🌱

This past weekend, our neighborhood planted the sunflowers for the sunflower protest 💪🌻✊ . I also shared some seed bombs that contain sunflower seeds and other flower seeds

We have a “flower belt” that we plant wild flowers there every year, which is one of the many reasons why I love my neighborhood 💚🥰

The Beginners Garden Workshop Series sprouted to life last weekend 🌱

In our very first session, we dug into the heart of permaculture—exploring how its ethics and design principles can guide us in growing with nature, not against it. We also talked about crop planning with purpose, and got our hands a little dirty making seed bombs 🌸💣—tiny acts of care for the pollinators that keep our gardens (and the world) alive and abundant 🐝🦋

It was a day of shared curiosity, connection, and grounding. Looking forward to what will grow from here 🌿

Mindful gardening (summer edition)

“Paying attention is a form of reciprocity with the living world, receiving the gifts with open eyes and open heart.” ― Robin Wall Kimmerer, Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants

Soak in the summer warmth and connect with the rhythm of the seasons by joining our Mindful Gardening Workshop. 🌸🌞 This isn’t just about gardening—it’s about bringing your mind and body into the moment and truly feeling the season around you. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just looking to relax and connect with nature, this workshop is all about taking time to take care of yourself and your green space. 🌻

🌱 What is mindful gardening?
Being outside can make it easier to feel grounded in the present moment and practice mindfulness. Mindful gardening invites you to slow down, engage with all your senses, and deepen your connection with nature. It’s an opportunity to slow down from the rush of everyday life and find joy in the small, peaceful moments with your plants. ✨

🌷 Here’s what we’ll explore together:
🌸 Simple meditation exercises to help you slow down and be present
🌸 Hands-on gardening tips for every space, from balconies to backyards
🌸 The beauty of seasonal rhythms, with a little inspiration from poetry and stories
🌸 And most importantly, learning to enjoy the small, peaceful moments with your plants
🌸 Grow your community by connecting with fellow urban gardeners in Amsterdam 🌿

Perfect if you’re looking to learn something new, explore the changing seasons, (re)connect with yourself and nature, or simply relax and find calm in the garden. 🌻🌍💚

🌿 Last weekend’s herb workshop was such a grounding, restorative time 🌞

We spent time in the garden learning about herbs — not just as ingredients, but as living, powerful beings. We walked through the garden, using our senses to connect with plants: smelling, tasting, observing. It was beautiful to see everyone begin to learn about herbs not just by name, but by essence.

We also dove into permaculture principles, and talked about how even the so-called “w**ds” popping up everywhere are often misunderstood — they are useful, healing, and important to the land.

To wrap it all up, we learned how to care for common herbs we usually just grab at the store, so they can actually thrive at home. Everyone left with a few herbs to nurture 🌱

Grateful for these special moments with nature, curious minds, and the quiet wisdom of plants 💚 There’s something really special about learning with hands in the soil and fresh leaves between your fingers. Will keep making space for that 🌳

If you are interested in exploring permaculture gardening, growing your own food, and creating balanced, biodiverse gardens — with our hands in the dirt and hearts in the process — check out our other upcoming workshops:

Spring Reflections: Mindful Gardening Workshop🌱

What happens when people gather to connect with nature? The everyday world slows down.

Our recent Spring Edition workshop created space for storytelling, meditation, and hands-on gardening—from soil preparation to creating seed bombs that will bring biodiversity to unexpected corners of Amsterdam. Everyone left with not just seeds, but a deeper connection to the rhythms of spring gardening and to each other. The conversations and quiet moments of tending to plants reminded us why we do this work. Interested in continuing the journey? Our Summer Edition workshop details are now available. www.cityplot.org/workshops-program

Dandelions are blooming in the garden. A lot of people consider them w**ds and pull them out to throw away, but I beg to differ. Do you know dandelions are edible? The flowers of course also serve many pollinators. The only time I pull dandelions out is if it’s absolutely in my way of sowing annual vegetables, but even then I would make compost tea out of it (not for drinking, but for natural fertilizing and treating plant disease).

Do you w**d out dandelions in your garden?
