Afgelopen zondag verscheen Paddington Geuzenhof (Lanatas X Krack C), gefokt door Sandra Maakenschein, aan de start tijdens de Young Dressage Talents bij de Wolfshoeve.
In de rubriek voor de vijfjarigen stuurde Zandra Birkeland Paddington naar een mooie tweede plaats met een percentage van 88%. Met een 9,5 voor de galop, een 9 voor de Harmonie en een 8,8 voor het toekomst perspectief van het jonge dressuur paard liet Paddington zich super zien. Op het protocol vinden we enkel lovende opmerkingen van de jury als “natuurlijke bergop”, “super mooi voorgesteld” en “zeer getalenteerd’.
Zandra over haar proef: “Paddington gaf een geweldig gevoel. Het was zijn eerste wedstrijd maar het voelde alsof hij het al een miljoen keer eerder gedaan had door de manier waarop hij door de proef danste. Het is een geweldig paard met een fantastisch karakter.”

Last Sunday, Paddington Geuzenhof (Lanatas X Krack C), breeded by Sandra Maakenschein, appeared at the start during the Young Dressage Talents at the Wolfshoeve.
In the section for the five-year-olds, Zandra Birkeland and Paddington finished at a beautiful second place with a percentage of 88%. With a 9.5 for the canter, a 9 for the Harmony and an 8.8 for Perspective and Potential as a Young Dressage Horse, Paddington showed himself super. Praising comments from the jury as "natural uphill", "excellent presented" and "very talented".
Zandra about Paddington: “Paddington did give such an amazing feeling! It was his first competition but it felt like he had done it a million times before with the way he danced through the test. What an incredible horse he is, with such an amazing character.”

Glamourdale Horse of the Year 2024

"The magnificent Glamourdale has already won many prizes with his rider Charlotte Fry. The stallion of Van Olst Horses managed to win a big majority of the votes, making the son of Lord Leatherdale Dressage Horse of the Year 2024.

In recent weeks you have been able to vote for your favorites. The votes have now been counted and it is known which dressage stallion will be put in the spotlight at the KWPN Stallion Show. Glamourdale has received this title twice before and now this Olympic horse has become Horse of the Year for the third time.

A life full of success
The son of Lord Leatherdale (out of Thuja stb pref prest by Negro, breeder J.W. Rodenburg from Ouderkerk aan den IJssel) managed to collect the most public votes. The KWPN stallion has already built up a life full of success with his impressive performances, both in sport and in breeding. The champion of the 2014 KWPN Stallion Show won the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses for seven-year-olds in 2018, became world champion twice in 2022 and he won European Championship gold with the British team and individual silver in 2023 with 92.38%. This year, the KWPN stallion took Olympic bronze with 88.97% and won the CHIO Aachen with more than 80%."

Stallioncompetition Groningen

The KWPN approved stallion Everest (Especial x Fresia van Negro) managed to achieve the highest total score in the Z class during the stallion competition in Groningen. With a 9.2 for his expressive trot and a 9 for the overall impression, he managed to achieve a total score of 88.6 points. “Everest responds well to the aids and remained nicely calm during the test,” said Janine van Twist, who provided the explanation on behalf of the jury. “He is a very high-quality horse, who moves through the arena with a lot of rhythm and shows a nice constant contact. He has a good walk, and trots with a lot of balance, suppleness and impulsion. He also shows a lot of rhythm in the gallop and the image is very expressive. We have a lot of confidence in him for the future.”

Secret Lover was also able to take home the victory. The stallion bred by B. Zumbruch from Wangerfeld achieved a total score of 89.8 points. “This is a complete and willing horse with a bright future,” according to Janine van Twist. “The walk has a good rhythm and is diligent with a lot of space. The trot has a lot of cadence, rhythm and impulsion. In the gallop we also saw a lot of impulsion and this stallion takes a lot of ground.”

Kjento son Pjethro received a total of 87.4 points in the four-year-olds. “A willing horse with a lot of quality that was presented very nicely. He walks well in rhythm with a lot of space. The trot has a lot of impulsion and cadence and in the gallop we saw a lot of jump and impulsion,” according to the jury.

In the intermediate standings of the competition, Everest is in the lead in the Z class, Secret Lover is in the lead in the M class and Pjethro is in second place in the L class.

The London International Horse Show
When it's almost Christmas and you organize a show in London, you can be sure that it will be atmospheric and very nicely decorated. The World Cup dressage competition in Great Britain is of course also special because it is the competition for Lottie's "home audience". And atmosphere there was....

Yesterday evening the freestyle was ridden and Lottie was extra motivated to achieve a particularly good result. And she succeeded! With a solid score of over 86%, the combination was placed 1st and they managed to maintain this position until the end! The crowds absolutely loved it and gave the pair a standing ovation.

Stallion competition Ermelo

Yesterday evening the second round of the stallion competition was on the program in Ermelo.
The stallions Everest, Secret Lover, O’Frederic and Pjethro made their appearance. The Glamourdale son Powerdale could unfortunately not participate due to an infection.

The first stallion to compete in the combined class Z / ZZ was Everest, he also appeared as first in the ring. With his energetic performance he could get the appreciation of the jury: “The trot has a lot of technique, where he keeps his rhythm and technique in the lateral gaits. The canter is good with a lot of impulsion and he does the flying changes ver well. The stallion has a lot of willingness to work and is very diligent, he is a very talented and appealing stallion”.
With a score of 82.5 points he was the winner of this class!

After that it was the turn of the five-year-old stallions O’Frederic and Secret Lover. O’Frederic showed himself from his best side and was maybe even better than in Kronenberg. “The long-lined brown stallion walks with a lot of space, the trot has good impulsion, tact and swing, the canter stands out with his impulsion in the hind leg. In general, he uses his body a lot and he’s a pleasure to watch”.
Secret Lover was the last starter in this group to appear in the ring. The black stallion can convince in all three of his gaits, which were therefore awarded with a 9. Unfortunately, Secret Lover was startled by something that happened in the audience during the right canter, which caused him to suffer from tension for a short time. If this had not happened, the score for the canter might have been even higher, as would the score for the harmony. But with a top score of 87.8 points, he managed to seize the second place.

Chestnut stallion Pjethro is an impressive stallion who can move like no other. Unfortunately, he got some tension in the ring which prevented a top ranking, but the fact is that this stallion has a lot of potential!
The next round in Groningen is in the beginning of January and we are already looking forward to it!

For the third time in his life, Glamourdale has been nominated for the prestigious title of “KWPN Horse of the Year”. After winning this title in 2020 and 2023, it would be a fantastic achievement if he could put this title to his name again after a great season.

At the Olympic Games in Paris, he won a bronze medal with the English team, after which he also managed to win a bronze medal in the individual Freestyle. This made him the best performing KWPN Horse in Paris and he was also the best performing stallion.

The Young Ones 2024

In the concluded auction of “Van Olst Sales Online”, the 3-year-old Ramblas was the top seller. For €50.000,- he will face his future in France. It was already known in advance that the offspring of Lantanas were in demand and this also turned out to be the case in the auction. The 4-year-old Prospect was knocked down for €21.000,- and goes to an Irishman based in Germany.
€21.000,- was also paid for the 3-year-old mare Ready to Dance. The most expensive Kjento offspring in this auction was sold for €20.000,- to Spain.
The other horses are sold to France, America, England and the Netherlands.
