What . A . Horse 🔥🔥🔥🎥 by Milan 🥰
I don’t care when a young horse lands in the wrong lead. Years ago I was very determined to get the right lead, but I always ended up with a young horse who was getting nervous by my all my aids. Yes, I give them the right direction, but if they land in the left lead while you want to turn to the right I just ignore it. As soon as a horse is more balanced, experienced and stronger, he or she will do it easier. That’s the reason I don’t train it when they are 4 or 5 years old. When they are older I use cavaletti on a circle. You will see they pick up the right lead very soon. Good luck 👍🏻 #keepiteasy #horsetraining
Feel free to ask anything you want to know about my horses 🥰

More and more riders are taken it slowly with their 4yo’s. I remember KWPN championships with over 120 4yo’s, but this year there were only 53 left to be judged by professionals. The top-26 went to the final one day later.
Of course there are more reason that there are less competitors:
* The entry fee is higher (the horses qualified for the final need to stay at the show, so you have to rent a stable as well)
* Dutch breeders don’t register all there foals by the KWPN anymore, but also go to Zangersheide for example (and it is a KWPN championship).
* I have the feeling that riders start their 4yo’s later at shows and don’t rush them to get them ready for a 1.10m class, which is a good development.
I think it would be fair enough to start the KWPN championships for 4-year-olds at 1.00m level, followed by a 1.05m final. What do you think?

Who could have think we would jump a 1.40m course so easily! Not placed for the 1.45m final for 7yo KWPN horses, but motivated to ride these kind of courses more often and get more experience at this level 🥰🥰🥰 Thank you Mogwai WS 🙏🏻
Look what a beautiful video Milan (9) took this morning while I was riding my 3yo mare Replay WS (Jovian x George Clooney) for approx. 15 minutes 🥰 She is in foal to Kjento and still at the stables to train her for the IBOP (mare test) later this year. But… I don’t have that much time to ride her at the moment. I think she goes once, sometimes twice a week under saddle. And check how she is going, she doesn’t need a lot of training as well! So, I’ve decided to give her a 24/7 break on the field. That hopefully gives me a bit more ‘air to breath’ these busy weeks with all the foal and horse auctions and the launch of our own brand ZAZA classics (yes, Replay WS is wearing our own bridle) https://zazaclassics.com

In my stories, I shared my doubts about whether I should sign up for the KWPN Championships for seven-year-old showjumping horses. And I received so many DMs about it! Some people said, “Of course, you’re a professional, so why not?” 🤷🏻♀️ It’s actually quite funny because - although I do my best to ride as well as possible - I don’t see myself that way at all. When is someone a professional? Is it a rider who competes with many horses? Someone who earns their main income from riding and selling horses (which isn’t the case for me)? 😌 What many followers probably don’t know is that my homebred Mogwai WS was my ONLY competition horse in showjumping in 2023. Does that make me a professional? I think more of an elevated amateur 😋Besides Mogwai, I now have a few four-year-olds at 80cm-1.00m level, but that doesn’t exactly give me ‘professional’ status, does it? I’m curious about your opinion. When is a rider a professional?
When a young horse tries to run out for the fence or doesn’t felt comfortable enough to jump a fence immediately: Give him the time ☺️Often I see riders pushing them with their leg and holding them with their hand at the same time to get them over a fence. That works too, yes. But my approach, especially with sensitive horses, is a bit different 🥰When they are very green, it’s ok for me that they want to look at the fence first in the beginning. On the video you can see how I keep Pontos calm and just repeat the question without any extra pressure. I never have horses who really refuse in courses, so it’s impossible to show you videos of it. I can’t give you a solution how to fix that because there are many reasons which lead to a refusal. But I can show you what I do with the young horses. What would happen if I had pushed him and jump the fence in the first try? Then he would get tensed after it and probably also when I ride to the next fence. Don’t put oil on the fire 🔥 with a sensitive horse (you can see I ride Pontos here even without spurs). Keep everything calm, you can see how well Pontos handled it 🤩#younghorsetraining #horsetraining
Lets talk about breeding: Even the way they hold their ears is the same… 😍 But of course sire Eldorado van de Zeshoek adjust a lot too: a larger frame, lots of scope and a cooler character (exactly what I was looking for when I choose him for my 1.30m level mare 8 years ago) 👊🏻 From mom Eulanda (Ustinov x Ircolando x Voltaire) he got the reflexes, the same frontleg technique and the same top mentality. Both horses never let me down and want to jump to the other side 🫶🏻 #proudKWPNbreeder #MogwaiWS
Needless to say he didn’t even came close to the poles… Mogwai WS (Eldorado van de Zeshoek) won the 1.35m class today. On Sunday we have our debut at 1.40m level and we are ready for it!!!
How my Sunday morning started 😤 Don’t laugh!!!
Outdoor Gelderland 2024 came to an end and everyone is busy to bring the facility back to how it was.The video screen is still on the wall in the indoor hall, where the international riders could train their horses. This morning Player WS saw that thing for the 1st time in his life. Well, he was quite excited about it... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🐉🐲🐉🐲
That proud feeling when your home bred horse jumps clear in an international class 🥰 Thank you Mogwai WS (Eldorado van de Zeshoek) 🙌🏻 Two more days to come at Outdoor Gelderland 🥳 https://youtu.be/4Rf7z9PjU48
Is this video perfect? No ❌Is this reality? Yes ✅ And that’s why I like to share this kind of content as well. Sometimes 4yo Pontos WS (Justice HL x Animo) is too round in the neck, sometimes against the bit. Sometimes he is a bit too quick on the jump, but he can also wait perfectly. Many things are happening in this video. There are brilliant moments, followed by moments he looses balance or he is a little spicy. But that’s how a training of a young horse (especially with a lot of blood) looks like. The steadiness will come by time. And I can tell you: This video is from two weeks ago and he is already much better now! When a young horse can jump this little course with confidence and in a nice rhythm, you’ll see the height doesn’t matter and it will jump a 80cm course at shows as well (soon!!!). I often hear: “It all looks so easy when you’re riding a course.” Well, it’s not always easy and some horses just need extra time, but when you trust the process, the puzzle starts to fall apart!
2nd prize in the class for 4yo’s in Haaksbergen: Ultimo van de Donkhoeve WS (Iago des Peupliers) 🥰 with an 8 (way of jumping) and an 8.2 for rideability ❤️ I’ve heard from several spectators he should had get a higher mark for rideability ☺️
Very proud of Ultimo. Since I bought him at Youhorse.auction in 2023 as a green 3yo he grew another 4 centimeters. Can you imagine how he is going to jump when he gains strength!!!! Amazing horse with a great attitude, scope and carefulness ☺️
Always nice when the baby horses are doing their job so well and with confidence 🥰🥰🥰🥰
