YEAHHHH
To great satisfaction, Kinchairo was again assessed free in both eyes by Dr. R. vd Sandt.

Last time I was asked about the ICAA research. During this examination I discussed this and the doctor indicated that people should train the dog very well for this because it is not an easy examination. She advised me to first discuss this in the breed clubs to decide whether or not to make it mandatory per breed.

The Nederlandse Vereniging voor Akita Inu's breedclub has invited this doctor to give a lecture in Dutch about ECVO eye examinations which will be at the end of this year. So we keep you informed.

Within 3 weeks we ran the Nippon Inu & NVAI club championships and a home competition Turf Trophy - Outdoor Hoogeveen with all our dogs. We would like to thank the organisation NIPPON INU, organisation Nederlandse Vereniging voor Akita Inu's, organisation Turf Trofee - Outdoor Hoogeveen, but above all the wonderful reviews from recognized judges, all the volunteers and all the people who supported us 🥰🥳 More photo's will follow soon

❄️Het wordt weer kouder!❄️

Het kouder wordende weer betekent dat ze weer gaan strooien als het gaat vriezen.
Wat maakt dat uit voor jouw hond?

Strooien gebeurd met strooizout/pekel, dit om gladheid te voorkomen. Echter kan dit schadelijk zijn voor jouw hond.
Hieronder een kleine uitleg.

Er zijn 2 gevaren die pekel met zich meebrengt.
❄️ Het geeft irritatie aan de voetzolen.
❄️ Bij inname kan het een vergiftiging veroorzaken.

Wanneer je met je hond op gestrooide wegen of paden loopt komt er pekel onder de voetzolen terecht. Dit kan voor irritatie en zelfs wondjes zorgen.

Als een hond vervolgens zijn voetzolen aflikt kan hij de pekel binnen krijgen. Dit kan een zoutvergiftiging veroorzaken. Het gevolg hiervan kunnen neurologische klachten en in ernstige gevallen zelfs de dood tot gevolg hebben.
Ben alert bij deze symptomen:
- Diarree
- Braken
- Verminderde eetlust
- Koorts
- Snelle ademhaling
- Sloom of juist onrustig
- Hoge hartslag
- Spastische bewegingen

Raadpleeg een dierenarts!

Voorkomende tips!
❄️ Smeer de voetzolen in. Gebruik hiervoor vaseline of een speciale balsem.
❄️ Spoel de voetzolen goed af na een wandeling en maak ze droog. Zo is de kans kleiner dat je hond pekel binnenkrijgt wanneer hij zijn voeten aflikt.
❄️ Gebruik schoentjes. Wanneer je vaak op gestrooide paden loopt of je hond snel last heeft van irritatie zijn schoentjes een uitkomst.

What a great weekend! On friday I presented only Bibou to judge Ineke Zwaartman-Pinster (NL) She received a beautiful report with 1 excellent, CAC/CACIB and BOB. We are so proud of this smart young girl 💕

On Saturday I, Helen ten Thije-Pos , presented Kinchairo and Bibou to judge Wilson (ZA)
Kinchairo received also a beautiful report with 1 excellent CAC/CACIB and became BOB 🇳🇱 Dutch Winner 2023 🥳
This time Bibou was not at her best during the show and well deservedly received a very good 💕
We want to thank our judges, Saskia Janssen-Braakman & Edwin who made it possible to show again our baby bear and the organisation with their vollunteers of who made this all possible. From now on you can spot us very easily.

What a successful weekend 🥰
It all started on Friday evening with a lecture (1st session) by Tony Knight.
Saturday morning to the Eindhoven airport and the Akita Inu's specialty - NVAI KCM of the new board. With amazing but excellent results🥳 Our thanks go to judge Ricky Lochs- Romans who emphasizes the qualities in our Shikokus in her judge reports and the volunteers who made this KCM possible. Proud of Shardé and Wim who trained Mochi fantastic this year.

☀️Warm weer vraagt om ijs! 🍦☀️

❄️Als verkoeling is het leuk om ijs te voeren aan je hond, maar hoe doe je dat veilig?

Het is niet gezond voor een dier om veel ijs in één keer in de maag te krijgen.
Een makkelijke oplossing hiervoor is om zelf ijs te maken in een hersenwerkje.
Een hersenwerkje is een ‘puzzel’ waar je hond bij moet nadenken om z’n doel te bereiken. Super geschikt voor de slimme Japanse rassen! 🐕
Zeker met warm weer is dit ideaal, omdat je een hond mentaal kan stimuleren en prikkelen zonder hiervoor lichamelijk actief te zijn.

🧊Elke slowfeeder, puzzel, likmat, Kong etc. kun je vullen met wat lekkers en in de vriezer stoppen. Je hond kan op deze manier moeilijk een groot stuk ijs loskrijgen en doorslikken, heel veilig dus!
Kies bijvoorbeeld voor yoghurt, meloen, pindakaas, water, banaan etc. en vul hiermee het speeltje. Even in de vriezer en je hond is je later dankbaar! 😄

(Let natuurlijk altijd op evt. allergieën van je hond)

Hitte plan voor jouw akita (ook toe te passen op andere rassen)

Hitte plan voor jouw Akita
Er zijn weer wat warme dagen aangebroken in ons land en er komen er nog een paar bij dus hierbij wat tips om deze warmte door te komen.
Zwemmen:
Over het algemeen houden de meeste Akita’s niet van zwemmen, ze lopen wel het water in, maar meestal op de voetjes nat te maken of hoogstens de buik te verkoelen. Wel heb ik een aantal uitzonderingen gemerkt en als jij een uitzondering hebt even goed opletten. Als je lekker met ze naar de waterkant gaat en jouw Akita houdt wel van zwemmen. Zorg en dan voor dat hij opdroogt in de schaduw, als je hem daarna in het zonnetje laat liggen gaat de nattigheid in zijn vacht broeien en ontstaan er hotspots. Niet zo heel lekker voor je hond. Daarnaast moet je goed letten op de waterkwaliteit, laat ze het liefst alleen ergens in gaan waar het water stroomt. In stilstaand water komt blauwalg in voor. Wat weer niet goed is voor je hond, zeker als ze er ook van gaan drinken.
Zonnen:
Mogen ze dan helemaal niet het zonnetje in, ja tuurlijk wel. Als jij een tuin hebt waar er een mooie verdeling is tussen zon en schaduw zou ik er lekker voor kiezen om je Akita zijn gang te laten gaan. Hij gaat in het zonnetje liggen omdat hij dit fijn vindt en wordt het te warm, vertrekt hij vanzelf naar de schaduw (hou wel even oogje in zeil dat jouw hond dit ook echt doet). De dubbele vacht heeft een isolerende werking en is te vergelijken met een thermoskan. Het houdt hetgene warm wat er in zit in de winter en cool wat er in zit in de zomer. Dit geldt wel alleen als je hond op dit moment geen activiteit doet, want van een activiteit wordt je juist van binnen warm.
Verkoeling:
Leg een natte handdoek op de grond neer waar hij lekker op kan liggen of eventueel een koelte mat. Let op probeer eerst de natte handdoek uit want niet elke hond gaat hier op liggen. Ze zoeken de coole vloeren op of ze graven de bovenste laag zand weg omdat die laag daaronder lekker cool is om op te liggen. Afspuiten met tuinslang kan wel maar zorg dat hij daarna in de schaduw kan liggen. Meeste effect is buik koelen omdat daar de minste haren zitten.
Hijgen:
Is heel belangrijk voor de hond, zorgt dat hij hier altijd de kans tot krijg. Let dus op als je gebruik maakt van muilkorf of gentle leader dat er genoeg ruimte is om te hijgen. Daarnaast verliezen ze wat warmte met hun voetzooltjes, soms zie je van die zweetvoetjes in huis.
Uitlaten:
Vermijd de meest warme tijdstippen of laat ze alleen even plassen. Grotere uitlaatronde in de ochtend en in de avond. In de bossen lopen onder de schaduw van de bomen is cooler dan in de open lucht. Boven de 20 graden kunnen ze het al warm hebben, boven de 25 is het al te warm om in te bewegen. Let op het asfalt wordt ook heel snel te warm, loop eens op blote voeten naast je hond en voel hoe warm de grond is.
Hondenijsjes:
Een lekker hondenijsje voor je hond maken in bijvoorbeeld zijn kong of echt in vorm is heerlijk om af te koelen. Let op dat ze niet grote stukken in 1 keer kunnen opeten. Dit is niet fijn voor hun buikjes.
Fietsen/ achter laten in auto:
Ik zou het eigenlijk niet meer hoeven te noemen, maar toch gebeurd het elk jaar weer. Mensen die van het lekkere zomerse weertje gaan genieten en de fiets pakken besluiten ineens om hun hond mee te nemen. NIET DOEN. Ga lekker fietsen zonder hond en als je dat samen met je hond wil doen, dan in de winter. Zo ook over je hond meenemen in de auto. Als je je auto uitzet stopt de airco en wordt heel snel warm in de auto. Laat dan je hond er ook niet inzitten (of je baby). Uitzonderingen daargelaten en zijn auto’s ontwikkeld waar de airco van blijft draaien ook al doet de motor dat niet, maar dat zijn uitzonderingen.

❗️Beste deelnemers van de wandeling aanstaande zondag 11 juni.❗️

Aan het begin van deze week leek het een warme dag te gaan worden maar gaande weg bleken de temperaturen voor zondag steeds meer te stijgen met een piek van 31 graden. ☀️
Hierdoor is het onverantwoord om de wandeling door te laten gaan.
Uiteraard betreuren wij dit enorm en hopen wij de wandeling later in het jaar alsnog plaats te laten vinden! 🌳
Aangemelde deelnemers krijgen hierover nog een persoonlijke mail.

What happened the last few weeks?

We were at the
- Int. Dog show in Lingen
- the Lahn-Dill-Show with DCNH - club winner show in Dutenhofen
- Int. Dogshow Dortmund

At some of these shows we have met our B-litter from Reiko X Kinchairo all lovely and successful. We have met some old and new friends. So, very briefly,... everyone got wonderful reviews and we are very proud to present our Shikoku's of Natsumi Sou Shikoku kennel 🥰 (Hongawa line) at the open class, intermediate class and Champion class achieved results
