Based on the many reactions we receive on pictures of Xadrez in our ‘stories’ I believe it’s time for him to have a post of his own 💛
Xadrez was born Januar 2003 at Coudelaria Pedro Ferraz da Costa, founded in 1987 in Alentejo near the Spanish border. He is by the renowned stallions Ouro x Opus-72 x Minuto and have since then produced 57 APSL-registered offspring. We often get messages from lucky owners of both ‘children’ and ‘grandchildren’ of this gorgeous horse around the world 🥰
Besides being beautiful to the eye and having a massive talent for piaffé and passage, Xadrez is an absolute joy to be around and we bought him years ago with the intend to implement him in our team of School-Masters, helping students from all over the world improve their skills in the saddle 🦄
A select number of students have had the pleasure of learning from him in the past years, but Xadrez, who’ve turned 19 this year, has in his own quiet, polite way let us know that he most of all prefer adventures outside the arena, which is why you rarely see pictures of him in action.
We have the greatest respect for all our horses, but feel a special kind of gratitude towards those who’ve probably lived more years than they have before them; horses who’ve contributed with so much - both in breeding and with numerous riders in Xadrez’s case. So even though he is quite a favorite of the audience and gets massive attention on social media, we’ve decided to thank him for his service by spending less time in the arena and more time just enjoying his company 🥕 Hopefully there are lots of good, healthy years left in him 🙏
