As winter approaches and our horses return to their cosy stables, the importance of roughage becomes even more crucial. Roughage serves as a critical component of their nutrition during these colder months, supporting healthy digestion and preventing issues like boredom-related behaviours. 🍂

A general guideline for roughage is approximately 1.5 kg per 100 kg of body weight, though this can vary depending on the horse. For instance, a 600kg horse should ideally receive around 9 kg of roughage.

The pellets Breeding Cube, Starting Cube and Growing Cube in the Breeding line of EquiFirst contain the OS-complex. ⚡️

OS Complex is a specially developed complex of copper, zinc and manganese. Due to the special form in which these trace elements are bound and the correct ratio, the OS-complex supports a good development of the joints, cartilage, tendons and skeleton. 💪🏼

🍼 Mare's milk naturally contains too little copper and zinc for foals. However, this is necessary for the proper development of bones, organs, coat and digestive processes, among other things. It is very important to increase the copper supply in the last three months of pregnancy. The unborn foal can thus build up a reserve supply in the liver via the umbilical cord.

In the first three months of life this reserve will gradually become available and the foal can use it for a good development.

EquiFirst also has a muesli in its product range for pregnant and lactating mares, foals and young horses up to 3 years old, the Breeding Mix. The quality of the proteins and fatty acids used in this rearing flake mix enables optimal development and growth of the horse. In these cold days, it is recommended to support your horse's good moisture absorption. You can easily do this, by providing an extra meal of Fibre mash. When giving this mash, you are going to provide both extra moisture and good fibre. 🌾

The Fibre Mash is the fibre-rich mash from EquiFirst with highly absorbable fibre sources (205 grams per kg) and derived from timothy grass, dried chicory pulp (naturally rich in inulin, a prebiotic that contributes to a balanced intestinal flora), bran and alfalfa, a generous share of crude protein (120 grams per kg) and a high level of Omega 3 fatty acids (22 grams/kg derived from extruded linseed). This slobber has also been supplemented with a vitamin-mineral pellet creating a balanced mix of roughage and concentrate feed.

💡Did you know that…

…your horse can lose up to 9 litres of fluid per hour during intensive exercise in warm weather? Not only does sweating cause the horse to lose fluids, it also loses a considerable amount of sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium. A large part of the normal requirement is taken up by a ration of sufficient roughage and concentrated feed.

Recover Mash helps horses and ponies to recover quickly after intense exercise or after significant losses of fluid and electrolytes. Electrolytes consist of minerals, such as sodium, chloride, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium. These are often called ‘salts’.

Electrolytes play a vital role in body functions, such as hydration, electrochemical balance (important in proper nerve transmission and muscle contraction), and cell resilience. In addition to providing electrolytes, Recover Mash also helps horses absorb extra moisture, energy, and vitamins.
Recover Mash must be completely moistened with, preferably, warm water.

Het is ons weer gelukt 🏆
Plaatsing voor het WK Senioren Voltige voor teams in Herning Denemarken van 4 t/m 10 augustus!

Na 3 kwalificatierondes in Ermelo, Saumur en Aken, die we alle 3 wonnen van onze directe concurrent Roy Rogers uit Bilthoven en we ook voldeden aan de te behalen eindscores kwam er groen licht van de bondscoach Claire de Ridder.

Het team dat bestaat uit de dames Maas (Heesch) Nynke Veldman ( Wijchen), Lisa Herwig (Veghel) Ilse v Dijk, Jinte vd Burgt, Saartje Boeijen ( Odiliapeel), en de heren Guus vd Coer(Zeeland) en Sander Pannekoek ( Cuijk) op het paard Wim ( Gribaldi x Havidoff) met aan de longe Meta Jans ( Odiliapeel ) vierden volop feest ( zie foto)

Daarnaast plaatste Renate Maas zich ook voor het EK solo junioren in Kaposvar (Hongarije) van 27 t/m 31 Juli.
Kortom een zeer succesvolle Voltigevereniging De Wittegheit uit Odiliapeel! 👏

Goede zaken voor Voltige Vereniging de Wittegheit

Team1 haalde eerste kwalificatiepunt binnen voor het wk in Hessing ( Denemarken)

Afgelopen weekend hebben er 3 teams , 4 solisten en 5 paarden meegedaan aan het CVI ( concours voltige internationaal ) in Saumur Frankrijk van onze Voltigevereniging De Wittegheit uit Odiliapeel
We hadden een zeer grote delegatie met 22 voltigeurs 4 solisten en 22 supporters een unicum in de voltigewereld
Team 1 startte op Wim met Meta Jans aan de longe met de voltigeurs Lisa, Renate, Ilse, Saartje , Guus en Sander met als reserve Nynke
Zij wonnen de eerste prijs in de rubriek Squad senior 3 met een 7.621 na een plicht en twee vrije küren
Als ze op het CHIO in Aken weer na de eerste ronde een 7.1 halen , zijn ze voor Hessing gekwalificeerd
Team 2 die in de rubriek Squad senioren 2 startte op Zidane met Ingrid Lammers aan de longe en als voltigeurs Marieke, Mirte, Jinte, Dinfi , Niels en Mendel en als reserve Jeslin Ook zij wonen de eerste prijs , na vooral een sterke plicht en 2 vrije küren met een 6.447
Het juniorenteam deed daar voor het eerst mee in de rubriek Squad junioren 2
Zij startten op Harry, met Marloes v d Akker aan de longe en de voltigeurs Lisa, Raeven , Fenne, Dana, Iris, Gilian en Andrea
Zij behaalden een eervolle 3de plaats met een cijfer 5,955
In de rubriek solo Mannen senior 3 behaald Sander Pannekoek een 3de plek met een 6.036
In de rubriek mannen children 2 werd Floris Westebring 2de met een 5,561
Bij de dames junior 1 werd Merel Westebring 3de met een 6.606
En bij de dames junior 2 wer Renate Maas 3de met een 7.134 en Jinte vd Burgt 9de met een 6,805

De paarden staan weer lekker in de wei, maar speciaal voor weilanden die niet rijk zijn aan vitaminen en mineralen is deze likemmer ontwikkeld.
Paarden zullen zelf naar behoefte gebruik maken van de likemmer, zodat ze toch alle dagelijkse benodigde voedingsstoffen binnen krijgen.
