Meet our local vegetable supplier!
My name is Gaute Terjesson. I started Bodø Grønt this year, after some years working on different organic and biodynamic farms around Norway. Before that, I studied at Sogn Jord- og Hagebruksskule, an organic agriculture school in the western part of Norway.
I worry about the earths escalating changes in climate, caused by us, and I’m passionate about taking care of the only planet we have. This way of farming is my little contribution to a more sustainable world. Bodø Grønt is a 2,5 dekar market garden and make locally produced vegetables just outside the city center of Bodø. I follow no-till practices and don’t use heavy machinery that may cause damage to the soil. Biodiversity is important both over and below the surface of the soil, and this year I have around 50 different varieties of vegetables. Bodø Grønt is situated on large open fields close to the forest, and some endangered migrating birds nest here in summer. The local beekeepers have their hives close by, and the bees do a great job pollinating vegetables and wild flowers. With the citizens eating my vegetables, altogether, it makes a beautiful little ecosystem.
Sadly the season is almost over. But we've managed to preserve plenty to use year-round and we're already looking forward to next year!
