Section 7 Original type dogs for hunting use. The Thai Ridgeback is one of only three br
eeds that has a ridge of hair that runs along its back in the opposite direction to the rest of the coat. The loin is wide and relatively powerful. The head is quite large, the muzzle medium long and the jaw area very powerful. Standing pointed and relatively large ears. Almond-shaped medium-sized dark eyes. The tail is medium-length, powerful at the root, and is worn vertically or bent up in sickle form. The breed has a massive bone strain and is generally very muscular. One of the prominent traits of this breed is its independent mindset which is because they remained all by themselves in the past, aloof from human beings. It desires to get things done in the way he pleases, and would even boss over the master if provided an opportunity. Thai Ridgebacks need a confident owner with a strong โ but not harsh โ hand. They respond well to authority but will continuously try to get their way and push boundaries. If trained with punishment you will earn no respect from this breed, and therefor no obedience. However, they can be a friendly companion when brought up in the right way. Build a positive bond with respect from owner and the dog. Thai ridgebacks are prone to be shy. They have caution and skepticism in new or unfamiliar situations, this is a natural reaction for a dog, but its not suitable in today's society. This is a trait that must be respected by the Thai Ridgeback owner. Training and precautions must be made. This trait should not be equated with anxiety or fear. If skepticism prevails and demands a reaction for them as a solution to the situation, some breed representatives see retreat as a solution. It may also be quite possible for this dog to move forward and choose the path of confrontation and discussion. A Thai Ridgeback is a brave dog that is well aware of its size and strength. If such a dog has decided that "going forward" is the right solution, this is almost certainly not a show fight โ he serious. They are high on natural instincts. Food, prey, breeding and independence. But the breed is also very adaptive if the owner does a proper job in the dogs young age. Patients is mayor key! A Thai Ridgeback means work.
