A question that most of us often ask is, should salt be used in freshwater tanks?

While some people recommend dosing it routinely to provide fish with the essential electrolytes needed, others insist that it is used mostly for treating diseases.

The blood parrot cichlid, this was first bred in Taiwan around 1986.

Day 5 - Water change day.
20% water changed.
I see green growing. Can you people also feel the same or is it just me?
Fishes have adapted this new tank and are now swimming freely.
Added few mosses in driftwood.

Day 4 - No water change today.
CO2 and Lights On for 5 hours. Time difference between CO2 and Lights going On was 1 hour; the latter one was switched on an hour later.
Added few guppies from my small tank into this one. All other fishes seems healthy so far. Plants are looking greener than day 1.

Day 3 - Planted Tank
CO2 increased to 6 hours continuously.
Lights ON for 5 hours just like yesterday.
Added few pink zebra and balloon Molly.
Changed 10% water to prevent the build up of organic waste which algae thrive on. During the first few weeks we should be changing the water more often until the tank matures. So, water change on alternate days is a must for a healthy tank build up.
