We are very thankful to all our volunteers and supporters working tirelessly in promoting our campaign nationwide. We are equally thankful to our sponsors for your valuable contribution. We are organizing bird watching technique training program tomorrow from 10 to 11 am at Central Zoo. If you are interested please message us with your details name, number and affiliated school.
FOZ COORDINATORS INTERACTION MEETING was held today, the first physical meeting after the pandemic was a lively event sharing the experience of education sector in Covid-19 crisis and future of non formal classes like that of Zoo. The discussion also summarizes the annual plan for FOZ members for upcoming fiscal year.
A good teacher can ignite the imagination, inspire hope and instil a love for learning in a child.

We are very happy and pleased to share that one of our FOZ member school Creative Academy was involved on identification and data compilation of Bird species of TU. Hat's off to Creative Academy, Shiba sir and team.
FOZ coordinators interaction meeting was held today. The coordinators shared their experience on impact of COVID 19 on Conservation Education and coined out program for young minds which could be impactful as well as refreshing.
NTNC-Central Zoo has launched two campaigns this year: 1. Adopt an Animal and 2. Plant a Tree. FOZ coordinators were made aware and they showed their enthusiasm for both of the campaigns.
Lastly, FOZ Committee was nominated for two years tenure from this meeting. The panel include Devi Ghimire, Indra Raj Bhattarai and Bhakti Ghimire as FOZ advisors and Damodar Dahal, Khagendra Nepal, Pradeep Maharjan, Rita Adhikari and Singh Raj Thapa as FOZ Committee members.
NTNC-Central Zoo like to congratulate and heartily welcome the FOZ Coordinators Committee and wishes best for their successful tenure. We also like to thank all the FOZ coordinators, schools and principal who have continiously supported our work even in these difficult time.

Today is World Wetlands Day. An opportunity to acknowledge the inherent value of wetland habitats and the importance of preserving them for biodiversity, our wellbeing, and the economy.

We know everyone is desperate to get outside and enjoy nature again so we are thrilled to announce that our zoo will be open from tomorrow following preventive health measures and various restrictions.

The year 2020 has been tough for all of us. Our zoo is closed from more than six months now yet we have continually organizing conservation education program. But this time, it is all virtual. We are sad that we are not able to welcome our Friends of Zoo members regularly for our program and yet happy that we could make it virtually.
Today Friends of Zoo members of Bhaktapur NIST joined us for Virtual Animal feeding Program. It helps student to learn about feeding habit of animal and give them picture of complex process of food preparation. Thank you FOZ Committee member Rita Adhikari and Bhaktapur NIST family for your continuing support to our program.

Today Friends of the Zoo Club of Triyog organized an interaction session on the title "Going Zero Waste" with Riya Basnet, Miss Nepal Earth 2019. The interaction was themed on how we can practice the concept of zero waste in our homes and schools. The discussion also addressed the topic of “Sustainable Tourism in Nepal" .

Celebrating International Red Panda Day virtually!!
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to our amazing expert Dr Hari Sharma for his presentation on Charismatic Red panda (Ailurus fulgens) in Nepal: occurrence in wild and potentially at Central Zoo.
This year we could not be in zoo and celebrate as we always do. But we have organized an interactive webinar to our Friends of Zoo members.

Celebrating World Elephant 🐘 Day with our friends of zoo members virtually. A talk program was organized facilitated by Dr Parbat Jung Thapa, veterinarian of the zoo, to raise awareness about these magnificent Jumbos.
Today is World Elephant Day. Usually NTNC-CENTRAL ZOO would have various engaging program for our Friends of Zoo member and visitors.
But this year due to COVID 19 crisis, we are celebrating World Elephant Day 🐘 with our Friends of Zoo members virtually.
Global Tiger Day is celebrated annually on 29 July to raise awareness about the declining population of wild tigers and encourage the work of conservation of tiger.
To commemorate Global Tiger Day 2020, NTNC-Central Zoo organized a webinar on "Tiger and its conservation in Nepal" for Friends of Zoo members. Tiger Expert Dr. Chiranjibi Prasad Pokheral presented different facts about tiger, its importance on ecosystem and its conservation status during the interactive session with young enthusiasts highlighting this year theme "Caring tiger for healthy environment".
Central Zoo annually organizes various educational program for FOZ members and visitors to raise awarness about the umbrella species.
NTNC-Central Zoo has been carrying out awarness program among urban youths of Kathmandu valleys.
This time of the year, the Conservation Education department is conducting CLIMATE CHANGE and SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT awarness classes for Friends of Zoo members. Our members have shown their overwhelming participation and response towards both of these classes.
Due to COVID crisis, the classes are running online. If you have not registered yet, please do contact our Educators at zoo and book for any of the classes or in both.

NTNC-Central Zoo initiated a collaborative project, Sustainable Environment Project, with Dwight School London and Friends of Zoo member schools in Nepal. Central Zoo provided a common platform for both schools of London and Nepal offering opportunities for students to be actively involved in creative and experimental learning activities relating to environmental sustainability projects (think globally, act locally), learners become global citizens.
Friends of Zoo member schools and Dwight School London worked on collectively to enhance academic achievement and develop greater awareness amongst its learners in issues relating to environmental education and wildlife conservation.

World Environment Day is usually like an annual festival of Friends of Zoo members where our members come together along with conservation partner organizations of NTNC to celebrate this beautiful day dedicated to nature and conservation.
Usually we have grand celebration and appreciation for our Friends of Zoo members who participate in different events, programs and campaigns organized by NTNC-Central Zoo. This year due to COVID 19 crisis, we are unable to do so. But we would like to congratulate all the FOZ members and schools along with FOZ coordinators who have participated and won on different competitions. CONGRATULATIONS once again.
