Today we planted our pocket forest of 1700 native trees in Bardibas. Madhesh province is facing the blunt of climate change like everywhere else while time is running out very very soon. We need to do more , much more but this initiative in close collaboration with BYD gives us hope. A heartfelt gratitude to honorable minister of forest and environment Sanjay Yadav for attending our plantation today along with Ajay Kumar Mishra, Head of Division forest office mahottari and Pitambar Mahato, head of land reforms division Mahottari. This coalition will ensure the longevity and impact of our work. Let’s Rewild Madhesh!!!

It was an absolute honor to welcome and host Baroness Hayman, UK Minister, DEFRA (Department of Food, Environment and Rural Affairs) at our rewilding project in Swayambhu. She planted native trees in our pocket food forest and we had a long conversation about animal welfare, culture and the ways both of our countries are similar in terms of understanding the importance of rewilding degenerated spaces. We started out pocket forest at swayambhu in 2023 and throughout these 20 months the forest has grown beautifully. The first successful model at swayambhu , this initiative has opened doors to other collaborations and other organizations to bring back the biodiversity to the region.

On April, we took our first group of 17 students from Swostishree Gurukul IB World School, Kathmandu to Aurahi. These young people painted our library for the local school, bought gifts for the children, for the first time in their lives picked vegetables, celebrated Eid with the warm welcome in Samsi, met Asharam ;our rescued calf from Gadhimai, worked closely with the community to understand Mithila culture, climate justice and environment protection , planted a pocket forest at the school and shared their learning while taking back sth immeasurable with them . “To the roots” is one such initiative that will connect children with earth , with other communities , with Nepal and this is our gift to our future ❤️
