Abode of the Unicorn - the Greater one Horned Rhino...
We call this ‘Tigerland’: one of the world’s last remaining habitats of this magnificent cat, pre-named ‘Royal’ not for anything else but for the majestic image it projects ! In it's dappled coat of sun and shade, its graceful litheness in motion, no wonder it is considered King of the wild. Among its subjects, the larger, lumberi
ng elephants and rhinoceros, herds of a variety of deer from the large sambar to the barking and mouse deer, wild hog, the sleek panther and wild cat, the gaur or Indian bison and, a-flutter throught he tall grasses and tree tops, flights of parrot, wood pigeon, doves – the vivid blue flashes of Kingfisher, the peck-pecking of the woodpeckers
and the brocaded brilliance of the courting peacocks…. Large and tiny butterflies hover in colourful colonies over blossoms of clerodenron and the red and blue filmy-winged dragonfly flits from reed to reed in the marshes. The resort lies on the edge of Chitwan National Park, just
across the Rapti River that forms its boundaries, sandwiched between reserves equally alive with wildlife that cross back and forth over the shallow fords. The area covers 20 acres of land once cleared for cultivation but is now being returned to its original riverine forest environment in an effort to draw us back to a blend with Nature which and we have divested ourselves of and unfortunately lost touch with !! The rooms are built on stilts off the ground, replicating the local Tharu culture and dwellings who built homes to survive in tropical heat and flooding of monsoon seasons, keeping themselves as cool as they could and away from the creepy-crawlies that might slither into their long houses for shelter against the wet. While we’ve kept the exteriors to blend in with the background, with projecting verandahs looking out to the forest, the rooms are well equipped with comfortable beds and facilities, such as air-conditioners and heating for the time of year you choose to visit. The bathrooms are modern, hot water from gas-heating or solar-powered sources, tiled and fitted with shower stalls to meet the discerning demands of our guests. Should there be requirement, there is also a conference room to house at least 100 participants! Need we say more? Please come and see for yourself – the emphasis is on relaxing, as well introducing you to the culture of southern Nepal, that projects charm far different from that of the hills and mountains to which tourists are also drawn. Allow us to introduce you to the delights of a small yet blessed country of marvelous Nature and attain our determined goal to make your vacation one of such contentment that will charm you back time and time again.
