Dog-on Adventures was started out of a love of our furry friends. I'm Stef and I have 3 beautiful Alaskan Huskies who love going on adventures and even better when they get to meet new friends on their travels. I figured my dogs can't be the only ones like this so why not provide an environment where they can adventure together. I have several years experience working with dogs around the world fr

om rescuing unwanted babies, to working with elite athletes in the snow, to pampering pooches in day cares. So rest assured your babies are safe to explore and play with their pack mates. I believe a happy content dog is one that is both physically and mentally stimulated. I know when there is a day I can't take my dogs out for some reason I feel bad about it, and I know many of us work and have busy lives that it is not always possible to provide your dog with an adventure everyday. Here is where I want to help. Our 'Walkin' the bark' pack adventures provide your dog with a great way to get their exercise, jumping into swimming holes, running and playing with their pack mates. This is also a great way to mentally stimulate your pooch, seeing and experiencing new places, all the smells to take in and all the doggy conversations they will have. A meet and greet is essential before your dog can be placed into a pack. I will come and collect your dog and then the rest of the pack, drive us out to our location where we can enjoy our expedition and then return your dog home happy and ready for their nap. I want to provide both on and off leash adventures where possible. The first few trips with any new dog will always be on lead until I can build a relationship with your dog for off leash adventures. Longlines, GPS collars and training collars can also be used if need be to make sure your dog is always the safest they can be whilst having the most fun. The 'GeePaw Sled Dog Skills' will provide you with the skills and knowledge to enjoy stimulating your pooch too. Pulling and working is both physically and mentally demanding for your dog and yourself and you will both feel the rush and excitement afterwards while happily relaxing. *We adventure in almost all weather conditions as dogs always love to get out. (This means your dog might not always come back as clean as they left the house).
*We use high quality acana kibble for our adventure treats
*We use compostable poo bags
*Dogs are always 'clipped in' while travelling.
*We try our best to find quiet trails and places for our adventures and we don't go to the same place everyday so it keeps it more exciting. What we expect from you to join one of our Walkin' the Bark packs...
*Dogs must be at least 9 months old
*Dogs must be fully vaccinated and desexed (unless prior discussion)
*Dogs must not be agressive
*Dogs must have good recall and verbal control.

MadVenture Monday

Mad Monday is correct!! It's been a full-on day starting with a brisk morning for the pack to enjoy some good fun out running through the fields and exploring over the trees. Enjoying some play with their friends and toys and some cuddles in the mix too.

Tevie had some fun with all her friends today. She is getting more and more comfortable with the pups.

Buddy came along for his second walk with zip and buzz and was more settled than last week. Lovely to see him already showing signs of relaxing into the routine.

We finished the afternoon with a few massages in the sleepy sunshine.

Nizmo, Jazz and Gazoo chilling at fur kids a few weeks ago sitting their canine good basics. This was such a great training class run by crystal Lead the Way Training & Behaviour and DogNZ registered certification.

Could not be more proud of these young kids and also could not recommend these opportunities more. We love training with others in a safe and controlled environment. And love attending these training courses provided at Fur Kids. It's so great to be learning together and have a great teacher. Everyone who sat the certification passed with flying colours.

Sun's out tongue's out for the walkin' the Bark Thursday packs

Wheow what a squelcher it was today. Our morning pack had lots of fun finding all the swimming holes on our walk along the way thismorning. Keeping them happy and hydrated.

Cruizy had lots of fun sniffing round the empty dog park then heading out for a swim herself.

Buddy was happy to stick to the shade under the trees for his walk with his friends today.

There will be some happy pooped pooches today.

Walkin' the Bark Wednesday packs enjoying this stunner spring day.

We took a stroll along some tracks we haven't visited in awhile, seeing where we could with all the big puddles from the water table being so high. The dogs had a blast, lots of fresh grass to chew and water to splash in!!!

Ther are some days I wish I had a drone following me round and today was one of those day. The morning crew were exceptional as we took the second half of our walk to really focus on sticking close by (these guys love to just run and run). They were simply fantastic keeping nice and close and practicing some recall for those who wondered too far out ahead.

The morning crew had so much fun on their trails we figured the afternoon doggies couldn't miss out. They were thankful for that!!!

Walkin' the Bark Tuesday packs

Lots of fun with the morning pack as we took a good splash then walk then splash again before home time.

Cruizy got her nose going today, feeling inspired after last night scent training intro with Remarkable Dog Training I thought cruizy and I would have some fun as she loves sniffing and loves fetching sticks. So we waited, I threw the stick into the long grass then released her to so search it out. Happy girl took the stick with us almost the whole walk.

Our lovely afternoon kiddies had a nice stroll in the shade along the river making sure to cool off when they needed and mind the path for cyclists.

MadVenture Monday sure had a great MadVenture today.

We enjoyed saying hi to our friends and catching up in our usual spot before heading off for a run and a swim and a play with some sticks. All making for some happy kiddies today.

Tevie had a great run along the river with zip and buzz.

Buddy came along for his first walk with some new friends, very nice and mellow zip and buzz to introduce him to adventure life. We cannot wait to see how he comes out of his shell and settles in.

A lovely morning to head along the river and play in all the big ponds left from the high water levels. The dogs were most impressed!!!

Cruizy had a blast charging through the jungle for some fun today.

Buddy got to meet a new friend in Lizzie this afternoon and they had a great time out on their trip with my girls.

What a great bit of fun our morning crew had today out along the river. Lots of charging round everywhere on a nice cool morning and having the best time.

Our afternoon pack welcomed back the wonderful beau after a few weeks off. He got some extra big cuddles and had a great time back out with his friends.

Our morning pack, and cruizy after, all enjoyed some fun running round at the airport. All very good kiddies despite how many bunnies and distractions were about.

Thanks to those who have placed their orders for next years calendars. Our first round has just been placed in with the printers. How exciting.
Here is a sneak peak at a few of the page layouts. It was such a challenge this year with so many incredible doggies and pictures. I could have made everyone their own individual calendars. This might be on the cards for next year if I'm more organised.

We went out expecting the rain but it was a warm start to the day today instead. These guys didn't mind as we made sure the river was close by and they took lots of opportunities to splash and keep cool.

Cruizy had a good run seeing what was left of some of our favourite trees, not very much!

Buddy had a good bit of fun with his friends enjoying a good run this afternoon.

Walkin' the Bark Tuesday packs

What a beautiful morning to be out along the river for our morning pack. It's been awhile since we have been out that way and it won't be too much longer before the dreaded barley grasses kicks us off the area for summer. The happy kids sure made the most of it today!!

Cruizy had lots of fun keeping wet as we walked along the dam edge and then playing with some stick to finish her fun.

Our afternoon kids only needed one special ingredient for a sunny afternoon and that was water!!! The key to happiness today.... And to be honest....everyday

Tevie had a good bit of fun heading round the fields with her friends. Coming to check on the cows and sheep too. Such a good girl.

Bit of Friday fun with our favourite trip thismorning. They are always so happy to see that I know where they live (they don't normally get picked up from their home). We had a nice trip across to Queenstown after to have some quality time with Diana from @mates4lifenz where zip, Ezka and buzz thoroughly enjoyed a post winter work over and I always appreciate all the learning and guidance.
