Dog-on Adventures was started out of a love of our furry friends. I'm Stef and I have 3 beautiful Alaskan Huskies who love going on adventures and even better when they get to meet new friends on their travels. I figured my dogs can't be the only ones like this so why not provide an environment where they can adventure together. I have several years experience working with dogs around the world fr

om rescuing unwanted babies, to working with elite athletes in the snow, to pampering pooches in day cares. So rest assured your babies are safe to explore and play with their pack mates. I believe a happy content dog is one that is both physically and mentally stimulated. I know when there is a day I can't take my dogs out for some reason I feel bad about it, and I know many of us work and have busy lives that it is not always possible to provide your dog with an adventure everyday. Here is where I want to help. Our 'Walkin' the bark' pack adventures provide your dog with a great way to get their exercise, jumping into swimming holes, running and playing with their pack mates. This is also a great way to mentally stimulate your pooch, seeing and experiencing new places, all the smells to take in and all the doggy conversations they will have. A meet and greet is essential before your dog can be placed into a pack. I will come and collect your dog and then the rest of the pack, drive us out to our location where we can enjoy our expedition and then return your dog home happy and ready for their nap. I want to provide both on and off leash adventures where possible. The first few trips with any new dog will always be on lead until I can build a relationship with your dog for off leash adventures. Longlines, GPS collars and training collars can also be used if need be to make sure your dog is always the safest they can be whilst having the most fun. The 'GeePaw Sled Dog Skills' will provide you with the skills and knowledge to enjoy stimulating your pooch too. Pulling and working is both physically and mentally demanding for your dog and yourself and you will both feel the rush and excitement afterwards while happily relaxing. *We adventure in almost all weather conditions as dogs always love to get out. (This means your dog might not always come back as clean as they left the house).
*We use high quality acana kibble for our adventure treats
*We use compostable poo bags
*Dogs are always 'clipped in' while travelling.
*We try our best to find quiet trails and places for our adventures and we don't go to the same place everyday so it keeps it more exciting. What we expect from you to join one of our Walkin' the Bark packs...
*Dogs must be at least 9 months old
*Dogs must be fully vaccinated and desexed (unless prior discussion)
*Dogs must not be agressive
*Dogs must have good recall and verbal control.

Walkin' the Bark Thursday packs

What a perfect morning for the crew to take a run up the hill, the sun came out quick but there were lots of puddles and rock pools after the rain last night to keep everyone cool and refreshed along the way.

Walkin' the Bark Wednesday packs

A perfect overcast damp morning to head for a run up the hill today to make for some very happy doggies. Lots of things to explore and enjoying the few rock watering bowls we found along the way.

Our afternoon pack had some fun going swimming with flo taking her first proper swim today. Way to go flo!!! She has come so very far with her confidence.

Walkin' the Bark Tuesday packs out having fun.

A beautiful cloudy start to the morning and these guys were stoked, heading off for a run and checking out some new trail loops. They were very much enjoying all the new spots to check out. Everyone is getting more confident and today was the first time I have seen bodi get out and swim for fun and for sticks in the almost 3 years I've known him. Love still seeing these kids confidence and experiences grow.

Cruizy had a good cook down splash today for her midday fun.

The sun was shining hot for our afternoon crew so we went swimming, Zeus and sage were very happy about that while buddy enjoyed a good paddle at the waters edge.

We all enjoyed a nice cool waitangi day yesterday and we're back at it in the heat today.
A lovely morning to take a walk with the perfect Thursday pack out and about all the distractions today. I'm pretty sure every rabbit was out of its hole today and the dogs all listened perfectly when they needed to, going by the rabbits, cyclists, people and other dogs. Well done team.

Cruizy had some fun getting out for her run today too, a good day for everyone.

A beautiful morning for a stroll and splash for our kids today. Loving the bit of cloud cover to start the day. It didn't last long but we had some good water to keep cool along the way.

Cruizy enjoyed charging round in the water and fetching some sticks. Her favourite.

What a beautiful day for all our packs today.
As with the theme of the week we made our way down to play by the river and enjoy a good splash around.

Cruizy was happy to head out and have a splash in the river today too. She is such a water baby.

Tt is enjoying a big social afternoon with all her usual besties and making good friends with our pups after many mini introductions. It's now one big happy family.

***VIDEO OF THE WEEK*** Diesel continues to exceed all expectations and prove he can be a good boy. Check out his zoomies and fun followed by exceptional recall. What a good boy. Many ask if there are any dog breeds I don't take and 'im very weary of ones who are unreliable....like a husky'.... has usually been my response. But in diesels case after a year of being an on lead dog he is proving his skills to be a good boy and enjoy some freedom. Not sure I will ever 100% trust him and make sure I don't set him up to fail but for now I will enjoy not getting my arm towed off.
