Dog-on Adventures was started out of a love of our furry friends. I'm Stef and I have 3 beautiful Alaskan Huskies who love going on adventures and even better when they get to meet new friends on their travels. I figured my dogs can't be the only ones like this so why not provide an environment where they can adventure together. I have several years experience working with dogs around the world fr

om rescuing unwanted babies, to working with elite athletes in the snow, to pampering pooches in day cares. So rest assured your babies are safe to explore and play with their pack mates. I believe a happy content dog is one that is both physically and mentally stimulated. I know when there is a day I can't take my dogs out for some reason I feel bad about it, and I know many of us work and have busy lives that it is not always possible to provide your dog with an adventure everyday. Here is where I want to help. Our 'Walkin' the bark' pack adventures provide your dog with a great way to get their exercise, jumping into swimming holes, running and playing with their pack mates. This is also a great way to mentally stimulate your pooch, seeing and experiencing new places, all the smells to take in and all the doggy conversations they will have. A meet and greet is essential before your dog can be placed into a pack. I will come and collect your dog and then the rest of the pack, drive us out to our location where we can enjoy our expedition and then return your dog home happy and ready for their nap. I want to provide both on and off leash adventures where possible. The first few trips with any new dog will always be on lead until I can build a relationship with your dog for off leash adventures. Longlines, GPS collars and training collars can also be used if need be to make sure your dog is always the safest they can be whilst having the most fun. The 'GeePaw Sled Dog Skills' will provide you with the skills and knowledge to enjoy stimulating your pooch too. Pulling and working is both physically and mentally demanding for your dog and yourself and you will both feel the rush and excitement afterwards while happily relaxing. *We adventure in almost all weather conditions as dogs always love to get out. (This means your dog might not always come back as clean as they left the house).
*We use high quality acana kibble for our adventure treats
*We use compostable poo bags
*Dogs are always 'clipped in' while travelling.
*We try our best to find quiet trails and places for our adventures and we don't go to the same place everyday so it keeps it more exciting. What we expect from you to join one of our Walkin' the Bark packs...
*Dogs must be at least 9 months old
*Dogs must be fully vaccinated and desexed (unless prior discussion)
*Dogs must not be agressive
*Dogs must have good recall and verbal control.

As we head off for a week of epic learning and great fun we want to remind you the dreads of the central Otago summers.

Barley grass and toxic algae seasons are in full swing. If your heading out to waterways this summer please be sure to check for algae conditions and familiarize yourself with what to look out for Incase the signs are not up yet.
Currently the warning for butchers dam is already out, I'm sure there will be more to follow soon.

As for the nasty barley grasses, we have a few areas we are no longer visiting due to these spikey little seeds of doom. Despite always doing our best to avoid them being in central Otago it really is everywhere. Please make sure to give your dog a thorough check over after their adventure days Incase any have been missed on their checks while we are out and about.

Walkin' the Bark Thursday packs

Our last morning trip before we shut up shop for a week and these guys were so happy to get out for a good run and splash around. Living their best life.

I'm now off to the airport to learn lots of exciting things to bring back and implement into everyone's lives. Can't wait!.... Yes I'm a super dog geek I just can't ever know enough about these incredible animals.

Walkin' the Bark Wednesday packs

Another morning of full on fun heading out to splash around in the creek for the kids today. They were very happy for their midwalk refresh.

Some more water fun to be enjoyed by our afternoon crew making the most of their run and fun. Loving seeing Mario just settling right in and have to make a note of how good miss flo has got at participating in her pack pic. She absolutely nails it everytime now where she could not even think about it when she first started with us. Way to go flo!

Walkin' the Bark Tuesday packs

We enjoyed our 5 minute spot of rain this morning to help us get out to the creek to cool off before making the journey back again.

Cruizy had some fun with all the beautiful flowers and cute little babies around (no she didn't get any of them but she sure thought they were interesting).

Our afternoon pack enjoyed a leisurely stroll along the waters edge making sure to keep cool and have lots of fun along the way.

MadVenture Monday fun!!

A great morning to take the Monday crew out for a good walk and they loved it. Especially a trip down to the creek to see all the kura.

Tevie had fun with her friends running round and playing.

Buddy got some Monday fun this week with Ezka and gazoo. Taking a nice leisurely afternoon walk.

Walkin' the Bark Thursday packs

Another warm wonderful day for our doggies today with our morning pack enjoying heading down along the river splashing in the ponds and having a great time. Especially roxy, loving some of the mud puddles.

Cruizy had a good time for her afternoon walk enjoying the bit of overcast and swimming stops along the way.

Walkin' the Bark Tuesday packs

Just a few (too many) pics from today but we had such a great day.

A trip down to the river to splash and play for our morning pack who had a blast. The river is the perfect height for some good splash time as not many of these guys are swimmers.

Cruizy got to get in for the fun today to and lots of water time to keep cool.

We welcomed wee buddy into the Tuesday pack and everyone welcomed him/ignored him perfectly. Giving him his space and letting him be comfortable. There were a few moments between him and tiny charlee as they both wanted to be the last of the pack and we're sometimes just stopped politely waiting for each other to move. So cute. Meanwhile Zeus was more than happy taking charge.

MadVenture Monday

What fun we had swimming and walking and swimming and walking and swimming thismorning with the pack. Absolutely loving their day as were the 3 ducks who were watching us every time we were nearby the water... Tormenting snow and Frieda.

Tevie had lots of fun with her friends today having a good run around.

Buddy had a good trip out today, every time more and more settled it might be time to move up to meet some new friends.

Walkin' the Bark Thursday packs

We were expecting to be hit with the rain today but have nicely avoided it all day. Our morning pack had to get splashing in the river instead and they were more than happy about that.

Cruizy had some fun being a farm dog today and checking the fences with me. She is the best helper.

It was boys club again for Mr buddy and his pals who had lots of fun out and about.

A great morning to head up the hill before we lose that spot to the dreaded algae which is definitely on its way and fast. Fortunately our morning pack got to get up and enjoy their run to the top and splash around in our favourite hilltop pond of clear water before it dries up. Loving their life and nailing some challenging pack pics today. Well done team!!

It was windy and wonderful with our afternoon pack enjoying their trip out and all being exceptional even around the bunnies. Mario settling in perfectly like he has been here forever. Graduating to the long line and gps and showing some of his great recalls.

Lots of fun taking a wonder out with our pack this morning. A few good distractions on the trails which the dogs all were so good about. Even all the bunnies. A great way to start the day.

Cruizy had a good run around and some fun for her midday adventure.

Our afternoon pack enjoyed a beautiful walk down along the river. Lots of splashes and passing cyclists and good doggies.

MadVenture Monday

A MadVenture indeed for our Monday funday pack as the took a bit of extra fun to find what was left of the snow. They had so much fun and a great day for it.

Tevie had some good time with her friends having some fun running round playing with nizmo under the shade of the tree then having a splash in the creek.

Buddy enjoyed his wee walk and baby steps is coming out of his shell. Enjoying some treats today.

Bit of Friday fun with our favourite trip thismorning. They are always so happy to see that I know where they live (they don't normally get picked up from their home). We had a nice trip across to Queenstown after to have some quality time with Diana from @mates4lifenz where zip, Ezka and buzz thoroughly enjoyed a post winter work over and I always appreciate all the learning and guidance.
