DRAVEC MASTIFFS
Initially back in 2017 we were looking to breed pedigree Amstaffs but during our investigation found that there are already to many legitamate and amature breeders producing, some to enhance the breed others not so much. During this investigation we came across a few hybrid mastiff kennels most notably Houfek Mastiffs and American Sentinal K9, we were immediately impressed by what
they were producing with the only restrictions to their creations being health and performance so it was decided to not join the masses and try to produce something unique to NZ
Dravec De Presa:
We have always loved the Presa Canario breed which unfortunately is banned to import here in NZ but through careful investigation we found that it was recreated back in the 70s from dwindling numbers of original presas mixed with specific breeds to produce the types we see today. Dravec Raptor:
We stumbled onto the Perro Pampa Argentino while investigating the breeds used in the recreation of the Presa Canario and were impressed with their described temperment vs the Dogo Argentino and seeing that it was already a stepping stone to our original goal decided to also develope this line in tandem with the Presa. We have carefully selected our foundation breeds based on our vision and will continue to refine our lines on the basis of health and performance so feedback from our clients has a direct influence on our program. This has taken some years to get to the F1 stage but we wanted to ensure the foundation stock selected and raised were of the right type and temperment before deciding to breed and so far we are more than happy with the results. We stand behind the mastiffs we produce and temperament test them for placement in hunting, asset protection or companion homes. We have a 2 year return to base policy if our mastiffs do not meet health standards and a lifetime return policy should a rehome situation occur with the view that none of our dogs will languish in rescues. We offer three levels of mastiff:
Catch dogs / Asset protection / Companion
Catch dog:
Working mastiffs were bred in the past for function so bite, prey drive, agility and gameness without being aggressive to man or dog were traits identified as the basis for a holder, we temperment test for individuals that display these characteristics genetically. Asset protection:
We look for temperaments towards being territorial, man suspicious, bark and bailing (blocking) as opposed to bite work so our mastiffs can be trained to guard without a master or physical contact for the preservation and safety of our mastiffs and clients legal liability. Companion:
Not all puppies in a litter display the genetic traits of catch dogs or asset protection but they do make great family pets, low prey drive and suspicion is what you want in a non working dog or pet only home.
