My dogs are gundogs and have always loved the hunting off pheasants and rabbits. But now at the age of 10 they are mostly retired but still have energy to burn. I started doing agility when they were 3 or 4 years old with my daughter. It was a good way of keeping them fit, active and mentally stimulated during the off season.
We are still competing a little doing a few shows here and there and they are still enjoying it.
Some photos of Mid Canterbury show. Great wkd

I have seen this herb save so many lives, literally drop elevated liver enzymes🩸 by half in just a few weeks!!

According to multiple studies, if you have a dog (or cat) with liver issues and you aren’t already giving your pets’ milk thistle (silymarin), you are missing out on the most important liver-restoring, “life-saving🆘" herb on the planet!

Just released last week, a new study on milk thistle showed the herb had incredible hepatoprotective properties when fed to dogs. “Hepatoprotection” is the ability of a substance to prevent liver damage.

Not only does it help to regenerate a damaged liver, but it’s also anti-aging according to longevity researchers!

In our new book, The Forever Dog, Dr. Karen Becker and I have it listed in our “Supplemental Habits for a Long and Healthy Life” section as one of our most important supplements to rotate into a dog’s🐶 diet plan. We also list the best “detox” dose🥄 to give a dog using the latest research. Available for pre-order now: https://foreverdog.com/about/

Not All Bones Are Good for Your Pup 🦴🐕

Never give your dog any type of cooked (“brittle”) bones, as they can cause potentially life-threatening injuries. 🆘

📌 When feeding bones to your dog, make sure that they’re raw, appropriately sized, and that you are there to supervise.

For more tips on offering raw bones to your dog, read today’s free pet health article: https://bit.ly/3PJajFX

EAT & FEED BLUEBERRIES!

In a study conducted on sled dogs, blueberry supplementation elicited significantly elevated antioxidant status in the dogs.

This suggests that dogs fed blueberries should be better protected against oxidative damage. -

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16520073

Aside from being classified as antiangiogenic aka anti-cancer, blueberries contain a compound called pterostilbene, a derivative of resveratrol.

These little blue powerhouses are good antioxidants because they contain phenolics that preferentially react with free radicals.

So, offering your furry companion blueberries can help protect them against cancer!

As we are all looking forward to the warmer weather, we need to be aware of the impact the rise in temperature has on our pets.
On several occasions we at Justice for Reggie have found dogs locked in cars, sometimes with a window partly down.
This not only leads to possible death of the pet due to overheating but also leaving the window open leads to the opportunity for your pet to be stolen.
If you are going shopping in the car 🐕LEAVE YOUR DOG AT HOME🐕

COCONUT OIL KILLS BACTERIA, VIRUSES AND FUNGI IN/ON YOUR PET!

Ranked in the top 10 most important food medicines, coconut oil is a must add to your pet’s diet! With over 13 Evidence-Based Medicinal Properties, the one we love the most is its yeast-bustin’ abilities!

Almost 50% of the medium-chain triglycerides found in coconut oil are lauric acids, saturated fatty acids that our bodies convert into monolaurin. Monolaurin is one of the natural world's greatest antivirals, antibacterials and antifungals. Because they come from natural sources, these fatty acids pose no danger to your pets' bodies, unlike man-made antibiotics and anti-virals.

Coconut has been used for wound healing for thousands of years. A new study published in the International Journal of Dermatology confirms that coconut oil aides in treating atopic dermatitis, a chronic skin condition characterized by scaly and itchy rashes.

Furthermore, one study published in the Journal of Medicinal Food found that “coconut oil is extremely effective at killing Candida albicans, a common yeast infection in humans.” Another study published in the Journal of Bacteriology discovered that “coconut oil can help kill Staphylococcus aureus, which is a common cause of skin conditions and respiratory diseases.”

The recommended dosage for feeding is:

• ½ teaspoon for every 10lbs of body weight daily

Or, if using topically, just rub the oil on your hands and apply to your pet’s coat (remember not to over do it!).

Please be safe out there! Just got word from a fellow classmate (ER veterinarian in Seattle area) during her shift yesterday they had 8 dogs DOA due to heat stroke, most short nosed breeds! Please provide shade, plenty of water, allow access to house if possible and DO NOT take any walks unless early in the morning. ~ Dr. S
