It’s Cicada season ☺️ my first equal, favourite time of the year.
Everyone was so blissed out yesterday in the glorious sun and insect orchestra.

There are many great love stories in the world. Romeo and Juliet, Cleopatra & Mark Antony, Kermit & Miss Piggy, but we think ours is up there !
Bear with, for the story of Mississippi and Snowy.
Both have loving owners and are our resident long stay cats.
-Mississippi was one of the most nervous cats we have ever had at the Cattery. Delivered to us in an almost feral anxiety state after escaping her carers and hiding under a house for a month. We put her in a premium, quiet and secluded unit, where she sat hissing and swiping
-Snowy is a chilled and cool dude who had been doing a long haul in our social area. While happy enough, he had become quite ‘mer’ about everything and was legendary at getting into other cat’s, carriers. Surprised customers finding Snowy insitu ready to go home ❣️
While Mississippi calmed a little, we could never really get her to relax. So on a hunch from Cattery Manager Nickola, that she might be a “cat cat” not a “human cat” we defied all logical thought and tried her in our communal area.
From the moment her paws touched the ground, surrounded by other cats, we could almost hear her exhale….. and then they saw one another.😻😻
Before long Snowy and Mississippi had become inseparable. Their bond is remarkable! They eat together, sleep together, discuss the news of the world together. Snowy fills Mississippi with confidence and calm and since falling for Zippi, Snowy has not once! attempted entry to an outgoing cat carrier. They are a completely devoted couple. 💕💕 Hope you enjoy the photos.

What a lovely morning, nothing like a soft drizzly morning, seems to make everyone mellow.
Just a little update on Maya the rehoming project.
I am so pleased to say that after a slow down in the introductions and frankly, letting her loose in the garden under a watchful eye. I have been very lucky and we have a success. More like a truce with wide berths 😸. Harry is still not impressed and she may have stolen his bed in the conservatory, but has otherwise returned to his senses….. and we have one blissed out little Torti 😻

This post is for anyone who has ever tried to integrate a new cat into their home.. with a well established existing cat.
This is Maya and we are going on one of our walks.
Maya has been in the Cattery and is in need of a new home .. a lovely summer project !
Success will depend on navigating some obstacles.
1 - Orange, slightly chunky, fully paid up mama’s boy and all round centre of the universe - Harry
2 - The Chicken. The Lone Free Ranger, not Kentucky Fried
I’d like to say, as a Cattery owner that the experience was full of perfectly timed desensitisation techniques and they are curled up together in blissful companionship. 😉
Instead, we have travelled many roads from curious indifference to simmering hatred …. and guilt !!!! layers and layers of guilt😭😬 .. Here’s our journey so far:
The look of utter betrayal from Mama’s boy.
The sneaky left hook (poor Mayas head)
The rise to dominance of Maya
The extraction of mama’s boy from under the bed whimpering in fear
The sleepless nights with mama’s boy AWAL
The volcanic diarrhoea episode ( Maya, although now dominant, also stressed)
The trip to the Vet
The Meds
The Re- start from the beginning …..

No ! It’s been a great summer so far 😱
We don’t know if we’re going to make it, but we’re all agreed on one thing. That purrs are number one ….and we’re trying our best. Well, one of us is 😳😆

Welcome to 2025. I hope it’s sunny and warm where you are. 🌞🕶️
This is my favourite time of year, when the grass is tall and yellow and the seed heads in flower. Such a beautiful jungle view for our little lion guests.

Look what we found ! Something hiding in the Harakeke, frightened and teeny, a baby cat rescue.
…. Some time later … From the first touch Baby Cat melted … and has revealed herself to be one of the most affectionate and sweet kittens we have ever met. All she wants is to cuddle and snuggle and play .. all day long.
She comes Vaccinated and with her certificates in cat door and litter tray. She is very very pretty - short haired .. but with a ruff of longer fur around her neck and a fluffy tail .. it doesn’t get much cuter.
She is now ready and longing to bring laughter and love to a new loving home.
If you’d like to meet Baby Cat .. just let us know 💕
HEALTH AND SAFETY WARNING ... you won’t go away without falling in love .. 😻
