✨Patient of the Week - Moos✨

Moos came to see us recently to get her annual rabbit vaccination, here she is with her bonded pair Gilby (at the back) and her human bestie who both came for moral support 🐰🥰

How fitting for Valentine’s Day 💕 we highlight that rabbits are social animals that are best kept in bonded pairs, they often come to the vets together even if only one needs treatment as it can help to reduce their stress and anxiety with their companion as moral support in an unfamiliar environment 🐰🐾

🚨 Protect Your Pup from Parvo! 🚨

With the rising number of cases of Canine Parvovirus in Auckland we felt a reminder is needed 🩺

Canine Parvovirus is a serious, highly contagious disease that can be deadly—especially for puppies and unvaccinated dogs

❗ What you need to know:
Parvo attacks the digestive system, causing vomiting, diarrhea (often bloody), and severe dehydration.

If untreated, it can lead to shock, organ failure, and death.

Puppies are at the highest risk, but adult dogs can also get infected if they’re not vaccinated.

💉 Vaccination is KEY! The best defense against parvo is vaccination. Make sure your furry friend gets their shots on time to stay protected. It’s not just about your dog—it’s about protecting the entire community!

Make sure your puppy doesn’t socialise with other dogs or visit public dog areas where other dogs go until are fully vaccinated

📞🩺 If you think your dog has been exposed to parvo, contact your vet immediately. Early treatment can save lives!

6 Summer Tips to Keep Your Pet Safe 🐕🌞

Stay Hydrated! 💦: Always have fresh water available for your pet to keep them cool and hydrated during hot days.

Watch Out for Hot Pavement 🔥: Test the pavement with the back your hand—if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for their paws!

Never Leave Them in the Car 🚗❌: Even with the windows down, temperatures can skyrocket quickly to a fatal level. Always leave your pet at home, especially on hot days.

Fleas & Ticks Be Gone! 🐾: Check regularly for parasites and keep up with their flea and tick preventatives.

Avoid Overexposure to the Sun 🌞: Some pets are sensitive to sunburn and heatstroke, so limit midday sun and enjoy early morning or late evening walks.

Keep the BBQ Food Safe 🍖🐾: Keep pets away from grill scraps, meat bones, or foods like corn on the cob, which can be dangerous if ingested.
