‼️ Highly toxic ‼️

The karaka tree is fruiting. You’ll find these trees in a lot of council reserves and some people’s gardens. They are a fantastic food source for the kererū.

HOWEVER… the berries are toxic to dogs!!

The unripe berry is green, the ripe berry is orange.

It is the SEED that is toxic. The seed is held within in a husk within the flesh. Even when these berries are rotting on the ground the seed inside the husk is still highly toxic.

If you suspect your dog has eaten a karaka berry, you MUST get them to a vet ASAP.

A three-week workshop dedicated to teaching recall using fun games, skills, and life strategies which will help your dog listen when distracted, and learn to love coming back to you!
Workshops are designed for pups, teens and adults who are comfortable on a leash around new dogs and people.

Exposing your young pup to crates by throwing treats in to encourage exploration is great for socialision to confined spaces. Even if you never use a crate they may need use one for travel or during vet procedures

@rohanunleashed and his dog mum Amalia Bastos showing how valuable young socialization to grooming can be! Introduce puppy each to tool with no pressure to be near them. Reward them heavily whenever you do this. As they build good associations start practicing small parts of each process. For the Dremel, this might look like turning it on and off again briefly whilst the puppy is near. As they become comfortable ask a little more by touching their paw briefly. Gradual introduction at each stage will help pup learn to love grooming time! For long-haired breeds a "puppy groom" at a professional force-free salon is an absolute must, to ensure your pup is able to tolerate grooming when they are older.
