Hello friends,
I thought I would give you an update since I haven't posted much on this page this year, and have had a large amount of people asking where I have disappeared to. I've had ongoing and complicated health problems this year (with me actually writing this while hospitalized at the moment!), which has made me not post as much on social media as I should. I'm sorry if it's led to a lack of communication, but I've been going between functioning and sick in bed a lot these days.
I've pulled back on my breeding a bit, and have had many failed pairings this year. I will continue to breed on a smaller scale, so that is why you haven't seen anything going on.
My main focus this year has been to improve myself and knowledge surrounding rats, husbandry and their health. I continue to learn more and more through my journey on the way to being a vet nurse, as well as working in an exotics clinic. I felt like I've learnt so much about unseen problems - Things such as urinary issues, internal tumours, neurological issues, that breeders don't see on a regular basis or even take into consideration!
I do have some exciting news though - Fingers crossed I'm better by then but I will be at the Auckland Pet Expo this year alongside some other businesses and organisations at a stall called Rats At The Expo! I will be updating some more info and teasers closer to the time (and once I'm out of hospital).
And just to end on a positive note - here is a picture of Remi, Raccoon and Rocket from a litter born last month. They were the only three to survive as Oreo wasn't a fantastic mother at the start.
