In 2019 I qualified in New Zealand Certificate in Canine Behaviour and Training, and as a life-long dog-lover, (and animal-lover in general), I am excited to offer completely force-free dog walking and pet services. With the focus on the dogs' wellbeing and happiness, I pride myself in using no aversives when on walks - just encouragement, praise, treats - and fun! Only small groups of dogs are wa

lked at a time, maximum four, as I believe this is less stressful and more enjoyable for the dogs. Like us, dogs have individual personalities and therefore individual needs as well. If your dog has a special requirement or would benefit from one-on-one training walks, please don't hesitate to ask. I provide home pick-up, transport to a park to run, play, swim and sniff, then drop them back home, relaxed and ready for a rest. If an on-leash street walk is more appropriate for your dog I am happy to do that too. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or requests, and if your other non-human family members need feeding, minding, or cuddles, then please get in touch as well.

Lumi🤍 and her doting (and persistant), side-kick, Bijou🧡
Lumi was very cat sociable so Bijou was adopted specifically to be her friend. Bijou relentlessly forced her affections on Lumi who at first was annoyed and harsh but soon gave in and did engage in lots of wrestling and chasing. Not all the sleepy cuddles were enjoyed by Lumi but she tolerated it.
The very last picture is the cats watching (a little shocked), the new family member, 11 week old puppy, Opal.

🖤His love of his ball..I've got a big Liker one so his teeth can sink in but he can't destroy it..He is also cheerful about dropping it so I can throw it again

Anyone who knows me well knows that I don't get proud of anything much (except for both my (human) kids 💚💜), but I was very proud of how my pup did on her first stay with humans she loves, in an airb&b.
Opal loves her brother ,sister and her sister's partner even though two of them are not really doggy people😉 She did not not lick, mouth or jump on them..anyone who knows Opal knows that that in itself is a great achievement😂
Dogs aren't allowed on furniture in this b&b..and I forgot to bring Opal's bed which I'd just specially got from Kmart for this trip. She quickly accepted that just humans would be on this particular couch and made do with her blankets on the floor. I bent (well- broke😅) the rules- and covered my bed with a sheet so she could sleep on it at night.
She was polite to all people and dogs she met on outings, played nicely with one dog, and jumped on no one🥳 Also: the property was not fenced but she didn't wander, and recalled whenever I needed her to on walks which wasn't often.
So a very happy dog mum this time but of course no shade on anyone whose dog doesn't do these things. All are different with their own strengths, personality and challenges💕

Opal modelling some .nz products..Their's were the first leashes I bought in preparation for adopting Opal, and still use them every day. I like biothane for Opal because she really is a wild dog and most days I need to wash mud (or worse), off her collar.
1. The 3.5m Lavender longline is Opal's main leash. It gives her freedom to walk ahead of me and sniff where she likes.
2. A recent non-essential purchase of a new collar, worn by 3 year old Opal, because I loved the colour. It's size large, 3/4 inch width and the colour is Sage Green.
3. Opal wearing her first big girl collar at 4 months old. It's the same size as her recent one but Lavender. She still wears it sometimes.

Puppy chaperone, Cambridge, has all the desirable Golden Retriever traits. She's gentle, tolerant, friendly to dogs and people and cuddly too, as an added bonus🤗 I wouldn't usually have 2 dogs in the back of such a size difference, but I know Cambridge well.
Pictured with Border-Pap pup, Tequila, who has just started coming on walks. She is tiny so a bit cautious of the big dogs but loves to join in. Her recall is 🤌, thanks to her mum, which means she can be off leash. She is bright, busy and energetic and also great at checking in with me😘

When I first met Opal, (then called Vienna), she was about 9 weeks old with a big bandage around her middle because she had had a bad reaction to her internal spey sutures and she had to be operated on a second time for the sutures to be replaced. Meihana, one of the devoted canine attendants at the Mangere centre told me she was the last one left of her litter of 11 pups. Opal's mother and siblings had been dumped outside the SPCA, the puppies then only about 4 weeks old. Luckily for the puppies they were able to be reared by their own mother in the safety of the shelter. Unfortunately the mother dog was too damaged and sadly her issues meant she could not be safely adopted😥 He also told me all the puppies had different colouring and Opal looked the most like her mother. I'm glad Opal has her mother's colouring..I think of her often and feel grateful for her great care of her puppies. Meihana also mentioned how unique each mixed breed dog is and I completely agree: it's what I love about them. I would always choose a mixed breed rescue and I especially love the bully ones😍
I had to wait another 2 weeks for her wound to heal before I could bring Opal home. Next month will be her third gotcha day🥰

Some pictures of the very sweet Tui, an special girl, her mum thinks she's a greyhound cross. She can get anxious about change such as work people on her property. But also has great enthusiasm for going out on walks to new places (or old) and riding in the car and is very happy to see people she knows- as I found out when she "took" me over to a cafe to see her friend there once on a walk😂 She also has a lot of natural intensity so it's easy for her to focus and learn quickly if you teach her tricks..plus she's a big foodie so that helps too with learning😋

Opal recently turned 3 and it's a milestone for me..These pictures were taken when she was 11 weeks old and I had only had her a couple of days. This is her very first trip to a beach. We went to Muriwai because I wanted to take her somewhere clean as she wasn't fully vaccinated..although as an SPCA pup she had actually had extra vaccinations to keep her safe in the shelter environment. I didn't post any pictures of her for some time as I was very overwhelmed as a puppy mum, and often wondered if I had made a huge mistake and should rehome her. So, yes, we have made it to 3 years..and now I can look at the baby pictures and marvel at her cuteness. If I ever get another puppy in the future there are so many things I would do differently. But the main things would be to relax, enjoy the ride and not worry so much☺️

A small collection of pictures of the best fluffy guy, Kobe. We walk together every week day and have a nice groove going💞 We're good at quick road crossings when there's an oncoming dog, looking at cats (if they're not too close😸), and checking with kids first if they want to say hi (and maybe get a husky kiss😗) Kobe's cheerful greeting every morning is the best and always makes me smile - especially if he's just got a new toy 🐍which he'll bounce up with to show me😂

Some thoughts I had when losing Bijou..Violence of some form is needed to remove life from a young, healthy animal. A cat is a vulnerable creature, small and unpredictable. Confidence in a cat can be a worrying thing, when she seeks out cats to pick fights with, approaches the neighbour's dogs, waits on the verge for me to come home, tries to come on a walk with Opal..She witnessed her cat friend Lumi's death and was not the same after. I also was particularly attached to Bijou because of Lumi passing, and I worried about her a lot. Bijou was affectionate, sweet, cuddly, and also restless and independant. She preferred to be outside. Opal and I made the most of her when she did decide to be around💕 Thinking about her ashes I decided that this was her only home so I bought a favourite tree, a Jacaranda, and planted it over her. With the idea that part of her will grow into the veins of the tree. It doesn't make it ok but it was a beautiful experience with her dog sister Opal watching on. Thank you to @plabitaflorence for helping make it happen and filming us🌱
